Dave Pack Now Believes HWA Predicted His End Time Superfantabulous Church

Every time Dave opens his mouth now something crazier comes out than the last time. This time he is using a supposed conversation that Dale Schurter had with HWA prior to his death.  How suspicious it all sounds.  Dave is placing his trust in a man who has stabbed two different COG corporations in the back over the years.  Can Schurter really be trusted?  Here's a man who while on WCG payroll connived and plotted to move over to UCG when it started.  Then while on UCG payroll he starts negotiating with Dave Pack for his salary.  Once that was secured he jumps ship from UCG to RCG.  Talk about a snake in the grass!

The following is a recounting of an extraordinary conversation (several hours duration) that Mr. Dale Schurter and his wife had with Mr. Armstrong less than a year before his death in January 1986. It confirms Mr. Armstrong’s belief that God’s Church would later do an even BIGGER WORK—that it would “prophesy again” fulfilling Revelation 10:11:
“A few months before Mr. Armstrong’s death, my wife and I had the opportunity to spend several hours with Mr. Armstrong in his home in Pasadena. He spoke freely of the mighty work God had commissioned him to accomplish, and related certain heartfelt comments: ‘I can say that I have finished the work God has given me to do, and am at peace about it. I have preached and taken the Gospel of the Kingdom of God into all the world as a witness to all nations.’

“Mr. Armstrong went on to say, ‘I have come to realize there will be an even greater work to follow—to go again, to “prophesy again” to all nations tongues and peoples (Rev. 10:11) before the work of the two witnesses—but with more power and with a stronger warning message. But that will be for others to do.’ He continued, ‘It will be a short work (Rom. 9:27-29), compared with the longer time to complete the work I was given, and it will be cut short. That’s when the Great Tribulation will begin, as will the work of the two witnesses. These will last for three and one-half years, at the end of which Christ will return in glory.’”

Dale Schurter conveniently failed to pass on HWA's last comment of "and for the love of God, please do not let Dave Pack get loose."

Mr. Tkach supposedly had secret conversations before HWA died. In those talks he claimed HWA wanted him to look into all the changes that the WCG was making at the time.

LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE!

Or, should that be:

LIAR, LIAR, LAKE OF FIRE!

At the very least, if Schurter is telling the truth, he is a hypocrite of monstrous proportion for failing to reveal this important HWA conversation while he was serving in WCG or UCG. He willing allowed the brethren to be deceived for more than 25 years because he preferred to keep this conversation to himself. Who could trust a man willing to do that?

On the other hand, this becomes a non-issue as soon as we realize it is much more likely that Dale was lying in order to curry favor with his current slavemaster, without regard for how many of the brethren he hurts with his lies. Pathetic.

David Pack, according to his online biography, was actually born on December 7th, 1948...

PEARL HARBOR DAY!

I believe that this is indeed prophetic! He plans sneak attacks on the brethren, and then bombs them!

We've recently been wondering where Schurter disappeared to. Now we know! He's been in isolation trying to come up with this fabrication!

Herbert was selective in the ways in which he preached the gospel. Of course there was TWT radio and TV programs, the PT, booklets, etc.
But, whenever he had a chance to really reach influential people, he wussed out! Kind of makes one admire, although he also has human weaknesses, Billy Graham. You always knew who Billy represented, and all the world leaders expected to hear about Him, too.

HWA was just as deluded as Pack, Weinland, Malm, Thiel, King, or anyone else who regards him as some sort of quasi-Biblical character. When your lying ministry is based on another lying ministry, it's a non-starter.

HWA was not as deluded as some think he was. He drank coffee on the Day of Atonement. He kept a "flog log" for years after he gave up having sex with his daughter. He cynically changed his church's divorce law when he fell in love with a divorcee. It's hard to make sense of HWA's life unless you accept the premise that he taught his followers many things that he himself neither believed nor practiced.

Some of the HWA Mini-Me's, like Meredith, are clearly also in on the con. Their family lives and personal behaviors are in such total contradiction to their teachings that the only reasonable explanation is that they found a good business and want to milk it for all the money they can get.

Armstrongism seems to work well when it is taught by leaders who don't really believe what they are teaching their dumb sheep followers. However, if a leader makes the mistake of believing too much, it seems he quickly gets sucked down the rabbit hole, as seems to have happened with Flurry, Weinland, and now Pack.

I lean toward your explanation of Herbie's behavior. That it was a knowing con, and that he was never a believer of much of anything that he preached. I also lean toward that explanation for Pack, Flurry, Wienerdude, and the cabals that have a stranglehold on power over at UCG and COGWA too.

Even though you can look at a man's behavior and chalk it up to either the most calculating selfishness or a genuine desire to follow some deity, I think there inherently is a problem implied by the fact that following that god is indistinguishable from rank selfishness.

I have always wondered how much the leaders really believed. We can speculate, but can we know? Human nature sure can deceive itself. There are old men who were SS men with leading roles in Hitler's regime, and they claim they were just cleaners or janitors or minor players. Don't they say that the best liar is one who believes the lie himself? Especially when people get old they repaint their memories, otherwise maybe they couldn't face themselves.

I don't know if it's possible for you and me to really know how much HWA really believed or not, but I am sure Loma, GTA, Stan Rader, and people like that knew exactly how sincere he was or wasn't, just like Laura knows exactly how sincere Ron is or isn't. The fact that his mom followed him, but now has abandoned him is kind of an indication that she used to believe he was sincere, but now believes he isn't. I'll bet Jim Meredith knows exactly how sincere Rod is or isn't.

Someone who's in a position to know that someone isn't sincere isn't usually going to tell because they're usually benefiting from the con, or are enmeshed emotional stakeholders. I doubt the David Robinson account of Herbie showing him his flog log. It doesn't sound at all credible to me. People don't usually talk that candidly to those they're not really close to, especially when it contradicts a public persona they have a huge stake in maintaining. Hugh Hefner might, but it's congruent with his public persona.

It's hard work to be insincere, because it's a 24/7 job.

Got a good one here. What would happen if an ACOG leader got into drugs? It'd probably cause vast improvement to his personality and his church!

"What would happen if an ACOG leader got into drugs?"

They might join their fellows in the druggie leadership of the UCG?
