Cry Aloud, Spare Not!!!!! Like Jesus, I Hate Football and Those Scantly Clad Cheerleaders!

Football season starts this week and the resident football Pharisee of Armstrongism is doubling down on his hatred of football and those scantly clad whores that pretend to be cheerleaders:

I do not watch American football. I consider that it is evil (also, no Christian can really defend how professional football cheerleading females are often publicly dressed and displayed). Others want to falsely act like there is nothing wrong with watching it.
Bob Thiel feels he is the worlds foremost authority on EVERY topic imaginable.  Only Jesus Christ could have a better opinion than Bob.  Thiel knows for a fact that Jesus Christ hates football.  Bob even quotes scripture to back up his malarkey:

Later today, the National Football League (NFL) is scheduled to begin its official season for this violent sport. Many do not wish to seriously consider that American football is harmful, despite the facts, and would prefer that I not post about it.
The Bible suggests otherwise:
1 Cry aloud, spare not;
Lift up your voice like a trumpet;
Tell My people their transgression,
And the house of Jacob their sins. (Isaiah 58:1)

Talk about scripture twisting and taking things out of context!  Never mind the fact that Armstrongism itself is one big enormous transgression, Thiel has to settle upon football.

There has been a lot in the news recently about some of the dangers of football.  Because of that Thiel believes it is not ethical for TRUE Christians (i.e. only those part of his personality cult) to watch football.

There is no doubt that American tackle football is dangerous to health.  While some in the world consider it watching it to be an ‘ethical uncertainty,’ true Philadelphia Christians (as well many who are not) realize that something that this sport is physically harmful and should not be encouraged.
Football and those that watch it are hating their neighbor:

From the violence on the field, to the under-clothed cheerleaders, to some of the half-time antics, there is a lot wrong with American football.

I could not reconcile loving my neighbor as myself and cherishing my flesh and not doing violence to any man by watching others do it in a football game. Nor the following:
9…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans 13:9-10)

Thiel also throws in Apostle Paul as a stance defender of football hating:

Is watching American football a deed that would be pleasing to God?

The Apostle Paul wrote:
12… they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.(2 Thessalonians 2:12)
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:28-32, NKJV)

Thiel is quit perturbed that so many mock him and his silliness:

Some may not wish to hear about any of the evils of violent sports, and instead prefer smooth things, but hopefully I have tried to follow the Apostle Paul who declared:
26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. (Acts 20:26-27)
The bodies and blood of those who engage in violent sports is important. It does not show Philadelphia love.
Then to get in his final bitch slap at COG members and leaders who continue to watch football he throws out the hated Laodicean label.

Those Laodicean Christians who are fans of American tackle football are NOT Philadelphians and will be subject to violence themselves as they will have to go through the Great Tribulation if they do not repent (Revelation 3:14-22).  Encouraging violence in sports does not show brotherly/philadelphian love.
You can read his asshatery here: NFL 24: Should You Be Watching?

Only in the cult of Armstrongism can such inane stupidity reign supreme.

If the truth be known, he hates football because for him, it's been an unattainable dream. He hates the cheerleaders because, well, same reason!

Maybe Bob would feel different about the men who play football if they would let him in the locker room and shower room after the game is finished?

I'm a motorsports guy, myself. However, there's no way I'd try to spoil someone else's enjoyment of football, baseball, or basketball, or label them "of the devil". Decisions involving sports should be personal.

They don't like violence or sex except for their fantasy versions of what they think their unconverted families, friends, and neighbors are going to suffer at the hands of the Germans. And, that's certainly much worse than any football game that I've ever watched.

I'm thinking of gifting Bob Thiel with a membership in the Cross of the Month Club.

Come on Bob...quit being such a wuss!

Jesus wrestled all night with Jacob, and inflicted and injury as well!

David was not "playing nice" when he circumcised all of those enemies, nor was Peter when he swung the sword either.

If the football is evil, what does that make boxing or the UFC? Sometimes it's just better to say nothing about a subject but Thiel doesn't know how to do that.

Bob Thiel quotes Isaiah 58:1 and strives to apply that verse to himself regarding football.

For Bob Thiel: Isaiah 58:1 was an instruction given to a true Prophet of God...namely Isaiah...and not you!

For Bob Thiel: God is NOT imposing His law on anyone interested in the sport of football. How do we know?

It's simple, very simple if Bob Thiel would apply the following verse in his thinking:

"To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them..." 2 Cor 5:19

Think about it Bob!

If God is somehow reconciling the world.....to somehow not impute trespasses, sins, on them as 2 Cor 5:19 says:

Then why do you Bob Thiel find it necessary to impute sin on human beings having some concern about football? Why are you attempting to impose God's law on human beings when God is not doing that, especially with regard to football?

Why would God give the gift of His law to a world run and controlled by Satan, his demons and evil?

Yes, God gave the gift of His law to ancient physical Israel, which was created by a miracle, but not to the world! Not to Philistines! Not to Egyptians!

Yes, the gift of God's law applies to God's Church wherever it is...and Continuing cogroup has nothing to do with God's Church. You started doing your own thing.

And if that weren't enough ancient physical Israel, without God's Spirit, could keep that law. And spiritual Israel, God's Church? They can't keep it perfectly either! Do you know why?

Stop putting yourSELF above all the rest of your brothers and sisters as if you were the only one perfectly keeping God's law, because you can't do it!!!!!!!!!

Well, not unless you are Jesus Christ's twin brother! Do you get the point.

Bob Thiel, start preaching 2 Corinthians 5:19! Why? Because someday you will be thankful that God is going to apply the following to you:

"To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, NOT imputing their trespasses unto them..."

You claim to be some prophet? I suggest that you do not even understand why the Apostle Paul wrote 2 Corinthians 5:19.

And that is one reason you get so frustrated with those concerned about football. Again, God is not imposing His law on football fans, players, cheerleaders. You are lying to us when you say the things that you do.

Isaiah took care of Isaiah 58:1. That was part of his job. Stop striving to steal some of "Isaiah's thunder!"

Bob says:- ‘From the violence on the field, to the under-clothed cheerleaders, to some of the half-time antics, there is a lot wrong with American football.’

I do remember the first young ambassador’s film (1980) being mildly surprise right near the beginning a short sequence of the Ambassador cheer leaders (for basketball – not sinful American football), wearing skirts that were way more than 2 inches above the knee.

Why there was I think even brief flashes of ‘undergarments’ when they jumped!

Can’t say I was shocked at the time, but was mildly surprised that this was part of the first Feast video, and was presumably what was worn each week at actual matches for cheer leading.

Being in UK, we never see American football here, so have nothing to compare it with! I wonder if Bob ever saw the Feast video?

Has Thiel made any attempts to witness directly to the NFL? Seems like he should go to the source to cry aloud and spare not.

Mr. Thiel must have watched football and the cheerleaders to notice the violence and the cheerleaders state of dress. In Genesis, God created Adam and Eve with a lot less clothes than the cheerleaders currently wear.

I took Dr. Thiel's challenge several years ago, and stopped watching U.S. football games.

What I discovered was something his articles don't address - how addictive such games are to watch. Unless there's a blowout win (like, say, Alabama vs. Prairie View), it can be hard to tear away from the TV to do other more important things.

Yet I wonder why Dr. Thiel doesn't condemn other violent sports the way he does U.S. football - such as ice hockey.

Bob can't keep his mind off those cheerleaders. Sounds like someone needs a vigorous rub down with a Turkish towel.

Although I have to admit it would have been pretty great a few years ago if God showed up at a sideline interview to tell Tim Tebow to f*** right off.

Human trafficking.

Ethnic genocide.

Incurable disease.

Famine.

All these things are happening, and the most "important" things on his mind are the "evils" of American football.

He doesn't have the resources to address any GENUINE problem.

In fact, he doesn't have the resources for anything but putting his words out there.

What does GOSPEL mean? He must not know.

Hey...didn't Armstrong do the turkish towel rub down thing? I remember reading about his opinions on fads like jogging that won't last or something like that and he does the towel thing..wow..that was great to know.

I agree...so, so, much more we should be focusing gang and you got it right.

Question for all...Any of you out there that are creative types that let these God given...who is the greatest when it comes to creative...talents go because of COGs or Armstrong? I just don't find many if at all..but some in special music mode.

As always..listening

Byker Bob, some people go to games and "cry aloud" now.

Westboro Baptist Church does it with pickets - such as the Final Four in men's college basketball last spring.

But a search of COG Writer found no mention of them. Does Dr. Thiel consider that too extreme?

Football may contribute very little to a purpose of human life and a cheerleaders underwear may expose a lack of dignity, but what does broadcasting these particular human factor have to do with the Divine’s purpose for human existence?

The peasants would probably be storming the castle with torches and pitchforks, if the castle were big enough to find....

Richard, when I worked security at the Academy Awards, one year we had to deal with Christian protesters. I was in the deepest depths of my atheist stage at that point in my life, so pretty much remained silent and allowed a higher level supervisor to handle it. Basically, the protesters were told that the Academy respected their rights to free speech, but that if they came beyond the spectator barriers and disrupted the activities, they would be arrested for trespassing. That's about all you can do.

Pretty much everyone outside of their group were just annoyed by them. There was much more sympathy for Native American protesters the previous year, and for African American protesters the year before that. Thiel wouldn't gain any traction by showing up at a game. I doubt if he would even get any notice by doing a Jesse Jackson thing, meeting with the national officials. About all he can do is complain, and forbid his handful of acolytes from watching or going to games. Pretty much do the impotence thing, only in his mind, he inserts an "r" into the word, and swaps the "e" for an "a".

Many moons back, someone was encouraging me to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. What they didn't know was that I was wearing a Farrah Fawcett strawberry-blond wig because I died my hair so much it melted when I tried to get a perm and I really looked like Sinead O'Conner or Brittany Spears when she shaved her head. I was worried my wig might fly off my head...ya thank?? Would have been funny as heck though!
