Robert Kuhn was a high ranking WCG member/employee for many years and was highly educated on many aspects of life and religion. He particularly was well versed in the science of the brain. The Plain Truth magazine, a Worldwide Church of God publication ran many articles by Kuhn.
After leaving the beliefs of Armstrongism behind he has led an amazing life exploring the human mind, the cosmos, religion and the search for the meaning of life. Kuhn's widely popular program is on PBS here in the Untied States, and online. When you compare the well thought out and deep questions of Kuhn to the amateurish drivel that Dave Pack, Gerald Flurry and Rod Meredith put on on their TV shows, Kuhn's program is light years ahead of them. The difference between Kuhn and the Armstrongite splinter group leaders is that Kuhn is not afraid to ask questions, allow room for doubt and not find it necessary to have the answers. Pack, Flurry, Meredith and other COG leaders claim to be the ultimate source of all knowledge. They have an answer to EVERYTHING! God is working overtime keeping all of these men's brains filled with the latest revelations. Its no wonder he needs a day of rest.
Closer To Truth explores fundamental issues of universe, brain/mind, religion, meaning and purpose through intimate, candid conversations with leading scientists, philosophers, scholars, theologians and creative thinkers of all kinds. The shows are a rich visual experience, shot entirely on location in high definition with multiple cameras generating rich production values.
Public fascination with questions of Cosmos, Consciousness and particularly of Meaning has grown substantially in recent years. Public debate has been intense, often heated.
Closer To Truth presents to mass audiences these leading-edge ideas in an approachable, rational and balanced manner, and introduces the human personalities behind these ideas. By meeting these change-making characters close-up, the thinkers behind the thoughts, visiting them in their homes, offices, labs, gardens, churches and temples, Closer To Truth humanizes riveting ideas and makes them more accessible and more relevant.

Rod Meredith has bragged to LCG members that Robert Kuhn still sends him donations from time to time. I don't know which one comes off looking worse as a result of this: Meredith for divulging confidential donation information, or Kuhn for being sentimental/gullible enough to donate to old Spanky?
Robert Kuhn is well thought of in China. He has his own TV show on CCTV.

Ah, Robert Kuhn. What was he ever doing in the WCG, anyway?
One writer speculated thusly:

Great program (Closer to Truth) - the host and his guests provoke thought, and that's usually a very good thing! However, that is disturbing about the contributions to Rod Meredith - hope that's not true.
Looks like thinly disguised Christian apologetics/propaganda. Kuhn still stupid?
I like the comment by the contributor who said, "God gave humans the truth, and the devil came along and said lets organize it and call it religion" :)

I saw Robert Kuhn as a guest on CNBC's Squawk Box a couple years ago talking about China trade. I recognized the name and face immediately from my WCG experience.

We wondered who this enigmatic classmate was who drove to class in a Porsche, and somehow got out of the P.E. classes the rest of us were required to take. I really had no clue as to his real status or background until the HWA "spirit of man" articles began to emerge a couple of years later. He lived off campus, so was not part of campus life and the impromptu "bull sessions" we used to have in the recreation areas of the dorms.
Osamu Gotoh was similarly enigmatic, and was part of our freshman class.
That's one of the interesting aspects of being young. You never know who and what various classmates are going to become as life progresses. With some, in retrospect, it should have been predictable, and with others, there isn't even a clue. Some become prominent, and others hit the skids. Most of us become relatively average, salt of the earth types, just slugging it out trying to raise and feed a family.

Byker Bob said, "Osamu Gotoh was similarly enigmatic, and was part of our freshman class".
MY COMMENT - That reminds me of Stan Radar's interview on 60 Minutes that caused an uproar in WCG when Mike Wallace asked Mr. Radar to clarify Mr. Gotoh's name. Radar replied, "GO-TOH" as in "GO TO HEAVEN".
Anyone versed in Armstrongism knows the Church believed in "soul sleep" and that heaven was not believed to be the reward of the saved. So Radar's comment, even though it was meant to be humorous, didn't go over very well at the time with the rank and file church tithe slaves.

OOOPs! I mis-spelled Mr. Rader's name in the post above. That should have been Rader not Radar. I must have been thinking of M*A*S*H. Another sure sign that I am toast in the Lake of Fire.

Reading at the link that Anon of "June 13, 2015 at 7:32 PM" left, I was rather amazed:
There were those awful Jew bankers.
There was the Illumaniti.
There were conspiracies galore.
There were the shape-shifting 'Anunnaki' aliens.
The Anunnaki are working to start a New World Order on this planet.
Hmmmmm...
But, you know what?
A person who has left "Herbieville" often has a brain-state that is ripe for falling into crazy beliefs like these.
Heck, even the Christian megachurch near me is run by a total asshole, and it isn't good for it's parishioners..., although I know of an ex UCG-er whose wife is concerned about his invovment there.
Last I'd heard, RLK was working at NYU. Associate professor of physics,if memory serves. I remember his articles from the church lit too....always enjoyed them and considered them a cut or three above most of the other stuff I was reading out of Pasadena. He was the principal---or only?---author behind the "human mind versus animal brain" series that was a moderately coherent attempt to undercut evolutionary theory's claim that we follicle-challenged apes arose via natural processes the same way our more hirsute cousins and all other life on Earth did.
Even then, light years beyond what most creationist/intelligent design proponents today are trying to sell.
As far as his show goes, well, it looks like he talks to all the right people: Kaku, Dennett, Rees, Tegmark, Krauss et al. so maybe I'll give him a listen.
But ditto what Miller Jones said above about Kuhn's shuffling some dough RCM's way: hope it ain't true. The sooner outfits like Meredith's, Pack's Flurry's etc. cease to exist, the sooner it'll be a slightly better world.
BTW, Minimalist: do you really think RLK is---or ever really was---"stupid"? Deluded, maybe, as most of us were to one degree or other. But stupid?
Well, I guess a respectable argument COULD be made that delusion is a form of stupidity...
Okay, I've spent enough of my valuable Facebook time here now. Take care.
