James Malm, the self-appointed prophet and guru of the Shining Light crapfest of legalistic mumbo-jumbo puts forth loads of nonsense that would send anyone to an early grave if they tried to attain his high level of legalism.
In his ongoing effort to bastardize the law and make it into something it is not, he claims that current members of the church can remain sinless after baptism.
But apparently not for future sins. The sacrifice of Christ is only APPLIED to the REPENTANT; to those who STOP sinning! and it is sincere repentance to stop sinning and the application of the atonement of Christ for our PAST sins; which justifies and purifies us.After that, we are to go forward; avoiding sin and living by every Word of God. But keeping the commandments does not justify anyone from PAST sins. It is sacrifice of Christ which justifies us and makes us right with God and atones for past sins.

That just goes to show you that he has absolutely no idea of Who Jesus Christ is, what He did, what He IS doing. I wonder if Malm follows his own rules. Someone needs to put duct tape on his mouth and give him a lobotomy.
NEWS FLASH- APOSTLE PAUL DISFELLOWSHIPPED BY MALM...
Romans 7:15-20 New International Version (NIV)
15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

"for those who have repented of sin and trusted in Christ as Lord and Savior, God declares them right before him on the basis of Christ’s righteousness and substitutionary death (Rom. 3:21–26; 5:1; 8:1, 30, 33–34). As a declarative act of God and not a process by which we are infused with righteousness, justification takes place in the believer once for all time (Rom. 5:12–21; Phil. 3:8–9; 2 Cor. 5:19–21).
Although everyone will stand before Christ’s judgment seat and hear the public verdict of whether or not we are in him (2 Cor. 5:10), for believers this end-time verdict has now been brought into the present. We have already crossed from death to life (John 5:24; Rom. 8:1). Justification once received cannot be lost. "
Connie - what is Paul's Conclusion to what you posted, then? It's Romans 8:
" Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh,[b] God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.[c] And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[d] because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[e] his Spirit who lives in you."
Take THAT, Malm.
Yaaaaay SHT!!!
I know some dispute the meaning: "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. 1 Corinthians 9:27"
To me it seems clear Paul recognized he was not justified once and for all.
Think about it - if a person is baptized and then becomes a mass murderer (like the BTK deacon in one of the non COG churches), is he still saved unless he repented before he died?
Are some of more vicious COG leaders going to be saved? I don't know, but some of these guys are causing immense harm in this life.
I am glad it is all in God's hands.
These Pharisees are the physical and philosophical embodiment of what is perhaps Sartre's greatest quotation: "Hell is other people." In fact, Sartre may have been paraphrasing Jesus when he said that. (Matt. 23:15).
Some are ignoring Gods policy of no more demons. God is not going to let people with demonic minds into his kingdom. Which is why the lake of fire. Which is why he will one day destroy Satan and his demons.
In the OT, God repeatedly wiped out nations that became depraved. A warning, and a type of the lake of fire.
Or do you want Ayatollah Dave Packman and similar in the kingdom?

The idea of once saved-always saved is a controversial topic. Idk myself, but I can’t see a contradiction between Paul’s words as cited by Connie and SHT and what you’ve quoted since it seems to me that Paul was being honest that he was human and sinned too even though on the spiritual level being “in Christ” he is looked upon by God as a born-again son and affirmed to be righteous on account of Christ’s perfection.
And re your example of a repentant and baptized Christian subsequently taking the life of another as if God won’t forgive him/her makes me think well what if the sin was idolatry or adultery or theft? Sin is sin in God’s eyes. There’s no major or minor sin to God. The effects might be greater or less, but all sin however bad demands death.
But, like you said thankfully judgment is reserved to Christ alone and only He knows what anyone is thinking or going through when they sin so only He can judge perfectly. Human nature is naturally destructive be it towards others or to the self. And thus only God can heal us and save us both from the devil in others and in ourselves.
The entire concept of Atonement by execution and blood is concocted by men with too much time on their hands. No Jesus ever imagined he was a god in the flesh. These concepts evolved thanks mostly to Paul whose Jesus was Cosmic and not of this world based on his Gnostic background.
The death of Jesus and resurrection story is a muddled one at best in the Gospels and evolves over time as well. It is mainly made up of Old Testament scriptures and not anything that really was witnessed in reality. The reason so much of it "looks prophetic" is because the story is back written from those scriptures. It is not history prophecied. It is prophecy historized.
The death of Jesus was not the worst "above all men" death. History gives us many many worse kinds of death that lasted much much longer than Jesus brief moments on a cross by comparison. He seems to know he is coming back, in the story, God knows he will bring him back better than ever in a mere three days. Biblical "types" of sacrifice stayed dead. Should a sacrifice not stay dead? A resurrection story is required or the death is nothing special and common to all men. In fact, the death and resurrection story of Jesus is a mere weekend inconvenience tale. It is a passion play common in the day to other religions of the times.
Jesus was FIRST a COSMIC Gnostic Christ that Paul adopted and reworked to be "the Gospel which we delivered" as opposed to others. After Paul died, anonymous Gospels were written to bring the Cosmic Jesus down to earth in a story set in a historical setting. This was a necessary step in the process. The names of the four chosen anonymous Gospels were added much later in the story to give them credibility while all other Gospels were rejected.
It's made up....by men and Mr Malm is tale weaving his way through the salvation story as well.
and too...would it not have helped all of humanity had Paul gone one step further and said what exactly the "sins" were that he wanted not to do but could not help doing? Paul considers what he does to be evil, not just some fluffy human failing or generic idea. Speculation of Paul's being struggling with his homosexuality abound. He was not much of ladies man by any account even his own, held celibacy higher than the marriage Gospel Jesus promoted which Paul never heard about since the Gospels had not been written in his lifetime. Paul was not pro woman in any sense. This may have been his "thorn in the flesh" and not just the idea he was going blind as some speculate.
The point is we have a man here who is wracked with personal guilt to the point of even beating himself literally to keep himself in line. Seeking his own salvation he came up with one for everyone based on a lot more than just the Gospel stories and earthly Jesus of which he never heard in his lifetime. Gospel Pharisees never heard of the Pharisee Paul who was the smartest pencil in their box and according to Paul, "above all". . That's because he made it up or the Gospel writers never heard of Paul

Romans 7:15-20 New International Version (NIV)

Paul was so wracked with guilt over this that he couldn't even accept personal responsibility for his perceived shortcomings. He blamed "sin" which was in him as if it was some separate entity apart from himself, and agreed that the law was the light that shone on his inadequacy. It was the law that ultimately bothered Paul as he simply could not do it. Thus another way to ease his guilt was born and fleshed out by a man seeking redemption apart from law. Today we call that gentile mainline Christianity as opposed to the Jewish version.
All the churches of God struggle trying to wed the two concepts of Law and Grace. Mainstream Christianity gave up on that long ago and opted for Grace only. The NT shows competing Apostles. Those of the law crowd, Peter, James and John and those of the Grace persuasion, The reason they struggle to sort out law and grace is because both are taught in the NT. Even Paul vacillates between the two in his writings trying to sort it out which has left us with nothing but debate after debate over the concepts each split and faction declaring they only have the true way to view and practice NT Christianity.
The Book of James is the Jewish Christian rebuttal to Gentile Christian Paul's Book of Romans.

No struggle at all. The sole purpose of the law is to reveal what is sin. Grace comes in to play when said law is broken and one repents.
Obedience is not required for salvation, but a heart to obey even though we often fail miserably is required.

The sole purpose of the law is not to reveal what is sin: it is one purpose. God's law reveals a way of life, a way to love God and neighbor.
Grace is not dependent upon some law being broken and "one repents:" that grace has "strings attached." What kind of grace is that?
Paul knew that God's grace existed and had the confidence to write the following:
"To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them..." 2 Cor 5:19
How do you think that will happen? That's for the world. If you think that every individual in the world ...all individuals of the world, of and by themselves, must repent, that verse would be a lie. Besides, isn't it God that grants one repentance?
You say: "...a heart to obey..."
Where will one create that heart to obey? How do you get around Gen 6:5, 8:20, Jeremiah 17:9, etc.?
All ancient physical Israel of the OT died out! Is there grace for them, whether they obeyed or not? Yet, all Israel shall be saved, or the Bible lied again.
John
