Worldwide the Unchosen will feature Former COG Member Actress LaNisa Frederick

We have only four episodes left and you're due a little laughter with @lanisafrederick! LaNisa is a comedic actress with credits in The Goldbergs, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Young Sheldon. She is also working on developing a single-cam television comedy called Church Candy based on her experiences growing up in the WCG! She'll discuss what it was like to have one parent in the church and one outside of it and why #cults are not just a white people thing! Episode premieres on Wednesday! Photo credit: @kimnewmoney

Decades ago the church used to teach that when people left the church they would never be successful because God was no longer going to bless them. The endless stream of myths we were constantly accosted with is appalling in their sheer stupidity. It's great to see another success story from my old church area, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, LaNisa Renee Frederick honed her craft in Chicago, working and training as an improv and sketch artist at Second City Chicago; and performing at the Tony Award-winning Victory Gardens Theatre, Goodman Theatre, and Steppenwolf. She is the co-creator of Hashtag Booked whose viral sketches have received acclaim from outlets including Forbes, Playbill, and Essence Magazine. A prolific voiceover artist, LaNisa has voiced video games, including and most notably "Syd" the first black woman to be a major playable character in Call of Duty. She is a recurring VO artist with several animations on outlets such as Dreamworks and Nickelodeon. She is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago and the University of Essex (England). And has also studied with Amy Morton and K. Todd Freeman at The School of Steppenwolf co-created by Jeff Perry.

The minister in our area also said that those that leave the church would never be blessed by God. I think this nonsense started with either Meredith or Waterhouse.

I definitely remember the lie that success only came by staying under the thumb of the ministry(called staying in the church). My wife and I grew up in the cogs and got tired of the abject immorality and overt political nature of the beast. After leaving we have found ourselves well on the way to spiritual, mental, emotional, and material success. It certainly would not have been found under the likes of Gerald Weston. It’s still a work in progress, but onward and upward we go!

THE ARTICLE STATES: "Decades ago the church used to teach that when people left the church they would never be successful"

MY RESPONSE:
Oh it was much worse than that. Leaving the church meant going thru the Tribulation, having Eternal Death, and even current demon possession and mental illness.

I have seen people who left WCG become successful, and I have known others that became drug addicts or real losers in life. I would say that overall , it appears to be a common bell curve distribution of results vs non COG people, both on the up and downsides.

Why would anyone want to be an actor? The Greek word for actor is hypocrite.

"Why would anyone want to be an actor? The Greek word for actor is hypocrite."

The biggest actors I have ever known are Chruch of God leaders, evangelists, and ministers. They are some of the biggest hypocrites in the world who will suffer a divine judgment far worse than an actor or actress ever will.

An actor or actress well-honed in their skills are masterful people, something that far too many COG members are not

Tonto,
It’s a wonder that so many that leave the cogs actually do well. God does not punish for leaving a cult, but a lot of baggage is associated with leaving.
Generally, you’ve given a great deal of time and money to the cult, and you have missed other opportunities. You give up an all encompassing way of life with its practices and its social network including your closest friends and all too often family members. These are mighty hurdles in life and to pass through such things successfully is perhaps a miracle.
Now, there are those in the cogs that attend cogwa or perhaps ucg who will say “what opportunities were missed?” These are generally those that benefited most materially and socially from the wcg and offshoots in one or more ways:
1) They were children of ministers/elders or related to them.
2) They attended Ambassador College for a greatly reduced price on the backs of tithe payers and have the heightened social network that comes with that. Or married someone who did.
3) They work for the organization in some capacity.
4) They attended ABC or cogwa’s indoctrination center (though minor compared to 1 & 2).
Cogwa and ucg in Dallas is basically filled with primarily those listed above…those that were the most materially rewarded by the cogs.
I mention this to illustrate that the doctrine itself is not responsible for any difference in outcomes. A lot is stacked against those that see the falsity of the cogs, and a lot is stacked favorably for those that ignore the falsity.

Besides the episode with Lanisa, that podcast has exclusive chat recorded by BOBBY FISCHER chess champ immediately after his WCG coworker days, where he shares some of his disgust on 1975 Petra came-and-went, & GTA extracurricular antics, and the struggle with church teachings of "God allowing children to absorb Satan's nature, then the expectation to therefore struggle at that point to resist Satan's nature". The podcaster, Tricia Jenkins shares pitfalls that any well intentioned COG should avoid.
