LCG Members Disinterested in Learning How To Face "Storms Facing Them"

Living Church of God had been anticipating a great response from its 20-30 something members after enticing them to attend a weekend together in Camp Eagle Rock, close to Bandson Missouri learning how to cope with life's challenges in a chaotic world. Well, they had to cancel the weekend because not too many wanted to waste their weekend there.

The earlier notices for the weekend:

Living for Tomorrow: L4T Eagle Rock—“Journey of a Lifetime”
How can you prepare for the storms facing you in an increasingly chaotic world? What tools and skills will be necessary to avoid shipwreck and make for a meaningful and fulfilling journey of life? These questions and more will be the focus of discussion as we launch the first L4T (Living for Tomorrow) young adults’ weekend of 2023. It will be held in Eagle Rock, Missouri, with the theme, “Journey of a Lifetime.” Camp Eagle Rock is located west of Branson, Missouri, and is a beautiful site to join other young adults for an uplifting Sabbath, enjoyable activities, and focused presentations. It will be held on Presidents Day weekend, with activities beginning Friday evening, February 17, and departure Monday morning, February 20.

January 19, 2023 2This event is open to young adults ages 18–30 and registration is open (log in to MyLCG for a link to register for the weekend). If you have any questions about registration or the weekend, please contact Mr. Rod McNair or Dr. Richard Franz. Sign up now and make that weekend a highlight of your winter!—Jonathan McNair

The latest update on the weekend - CANCELLED!!!!!!!!!!!!

L4T Eagle Rock Canceled
We have, regrettably, had to cancel the Living for Tomorrow event in Missouri, as there weren’t enough registered attendees to sustain the activity. Anyone who signed up and paid will be reimbursed in full. Those who wanted to go to the Eagle Rock L4T will have another opportunity— another L4T is planned, and more information will be coming soon. Stay tuned for more details and information on how to sign up.—Jonathan McNair

The young people today have many financial storms that the older generation didn’t even have to deal with. There’s a disconnect.

True. It's about to get harder for LCG because their AmazonSmile program is ending this month.

I understand that 100% of all the young people in LCG in the USA and Canada aged 18 to 30 signed up for this.

All three of them are very disappointed that it was cancelled!

Perhaps those young adults are so busy being hard-working examples of God's way of life that they couldn't get off for Presidents Day weekend.

On a positive note, they are up to three members in that age bracket now!

Sadly, I have it from a reliable LCG source, that one of the three would-be attendees is not really in that age bracket; he's just an oldie pretender, hoping to get smooshy with some younger talent.
Seemingly, old COG memes never fade away - but surely the end is nigh for the whole COG movement.

Armstrongism was created out of relevancy to a specific generation, time and date stamped for that era. It has been past its expiration date for decades now. In 1975, that generation was at its pinnacle, and we, their offspring, were still just the whippersnappers. They were Sinatra and Crosby, and we were rock n roll. However, major rock radio stations in most of the prime markets have now transitioned to other types of music, or have gone into oldies/classic format. That, having been our culture, means that like all the previous generations, we too were time and date stamped. All this to say that Armstrongism is so past its time and date stamp that it is ludicrous that people are wasting their time and resources promoting it. It is not going to make a comeback, but like jazz or big band music, it will always have a small presence for those nostalgic about it. I say small because another limitation is that it is spiritual S & M.

Another example of the going past the "expiration date," is continuing to have couples, single people or a man to pay for expensive hotel reservations during the feast as prices continue to soar. It's really a waste of money. This is problem of the breakup of worldwide, and not owning your own buildings throughout the years.

The other "expiration date" is the tithes going on television. Media progresses, to newspapers, radio television and now it's the internet. All they have to do is put 95% of their efforts on the internet and leave the television contracts behind. It's out dated. The young people and future generations stream everything via the internet except for sports and the news. That money could be used for other important things like helping out the local congregations.

But one thing that would not have gotten old is that these COGs single events are put in place to try and compensate for no ambassador college. See other religious colleges and universities continue allowing the young people to meet each other while earning their degrees. That's been taken away by the expiration date of WCG.

Usually when something passes its expiration date, it is considered to be toxic and is disposed of. Unfortunately.............
