LCG: Is It A Sin To Donate Online To Them After Sundown?

Things just get stranger and stranger in COGland as they pull crazy rules out of their a..... hats.

Year-End Donations (U.S. only)—Repeat Announcement
Please be reminded that all U.S. contributions dated in December and postmarked on or before Friday, December 31, will be counted as a donation for 2021 and may be tax deductible in 2021, even if we receive it in January 2022. For those who donate online, the deadline for online contributions is 11:59 p.m. on December 31. Keep in mind that December 31 is a Friday this year, and sundown times will vary depending on your location.

So are we to assume that if a member decides to contribute some money after sundown on December 31st that LCG will refuse it out of Christian obligation to not accept money transactions on the Sabbath?

Well, we all know the answer to that one....

Thanks, Gerald! That's the best excuse I have ever heard as to why I do not need to donate to the church anymore.

With the myriad of conflicting splinters groups WHY should members tithe? What are tithes being used for besides keeping them smug in old ways?
It's nowadays the equivalent of contributing to Castro's Cuban regime. If the ministry cannot work in a professional manner with anyone outside of their own personal friendships, then they cannot deliver anything, in the long run, remotely from God.
Would even God Himself contribute to these amateurs?

Life is sometimes stranger than fiction. On another note, LCG.. what exactly are you trying to accomplish?

I always respected Dr. Gene Scott for one reason. He didn't give receipts to show the IRS for donations. He was careful not to make that a motivation for giving, and wanted offerings to be pure and from the heart.

This is very strange. LCG passes a collection basket around at services on the Holy Days. Why should they suddenly start objecting to other donations made on a Sabbath?

The Standard Deduction for US taxes for a married couple is $25,000. Singles $12,500.

So unless your Schedule A deductions are greater than $25,000 , your donation to the church will have NO impact as a tax deduction. Note: Home Mortgage interest and State/Local taxes are also deductible if you choose NOT to use the standard deduction.

Some 90% of Americans simply take the Standard deduction as the above mentioned deductions are not more than than it's amount. Thus, the worry about getting a 2021 deduction is simply a mute point for most people.

Not going into the history of "tithing" versus giving, but, yes, "passing the plate" has no scriptural backing and appears presumptuous. One of the first actions taken to confirm the Sabbath being moved to Sunday was Rome declaring Saturdays would be fast days, while Sundays were feast days. Remember HWA's church-wide fasts were almost always scheduled for a Sabbath?

I remember when Bob Thiel, in a sermon, confused the word translated as "offering" (referring to "sacrifice") to with "taking up a collection".

Haven't heard of any COGS planning special "watch night" services on 12.31. As in watching for money.

It appears all of the Splits should reexamine Heb 7:12 and the "change" (translated "removing" in Heb 12:27) of the (tithing) law. Rewritten?? There's no evidence of that. Transfer to heaven?? Doesn't make sense. A reversion, a "transfer", to an original law of tithing as at the beginning (Herbert's diversion)? No. The change was the removal. There was no tithing law before Moses and ("at the beginning"-HWA).

Gene Scott, in my opinion, he didn't want all the work that goes with accounting etc, 2nd, it was about his horses, and cigars,I watched him a # of times it was all about the $$$$$, however I would say this about him, he didn'hide behind some facade, they new what they were getting, reminds me of YouTube people who post video's ask people to become patreons and support their endivors, they do so because they enjoy their video's etc. Under no obligation. So in my opinion it was intertainment of sorts. He would sit for hours never say a word to show his displeasure at people of not receiving enough $$$$$, funny in the end the money would come in. I never sent him a dime, but when he did go on a tirade it was hilarious,

Is it a sin to donate online after sundown?

With some of the really satanic splinter cults, like the PCG and the RCG, it would be a very serious SIN to give them any money at all at any time of the day or night, on any day of the week, in any month of the year, during any year!!!

Remember that.

They bring up an excellent point. I will avoid giving anything else to LCG on any day of the week, just to be safe!

Aren't they two faced, don't they count the money between services and mail it to head office on the holy days. They don't even trust elders to keep it till the next day. That shows trust.
Think about it. I remember counting money at the feast, and ministers watching closely, that nothing was stolen, that showed me how they lacked trust. It was all about monet and still is.

I hate Armstrongism, and hope that all of the ACOGs will fall apart and or disband. However, this could be a matter of LCG's business offices simply closing at their normal time on a Friday afternoon, and therefore their inability to tabulate incoming donations after that point in time because staff will not be present.

I thought that I had read somewhere that some of these little splinter cults encourage their members to allow the church to automatically debit their bank accounts for tithes. With the advanced age of so many members, it's possible that enough actually do still mail in checks, but who even knows? The reminder is certainly not worded from a public relations perspective. Sounds more authoritarian, kind of like these cults themselves.

So if I take the Standard Deduction, does that mean I cannot deduct out of my 401k contributions separately?

They care MORE ABOUT MONEY than the brethren!! WOLVES in sheep’s clothing!! That is why they have their little meetings to find more TITHE PAYERS!!
