United Church of God has a list of things posted for their members to do so that they do not lose thier Fatih. Apparently. their members are getting distracted by spending a relaxing day by the lake or enjoying a ball game.
One of the items is this:
Let’s face it, going to the lake or to a ball game sounds like it may be more fun than attending a church service. This is what a carnal minded person might want to do. The apostles warned about having this kind of mentality creeping into our lives. Hebrews 10:24-25 admonishes us, “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Carnal minded? What a load of crap. Why do COG ministers have to constantly denegrate thier members?
It is awfully hard sitting in church week after week listening to the same canned sermon and same viewpoint of every single minister in the church, week after week, year after year. Far too many have never advanced from COG-related booklets as their source material or even taken classes in Bible at a local seminary. Most of these guys are pulling source material from the same sermons they preached while in the Worldwide Church of God.
When we keep our eyes on the goal of the kingdom of God and place our trust in Him, we will never be disappointed. We will never be separated from God’s love, and our Father will always answer us in times of need if we persistently seek Him.
The focus of UCG and the rest of the church is never upon the Christ they claim to follow, but on other things that their members need to be doing good works in order to be admitted to the magical kingdom.
A real follower of Jesus knows that through justification, sanctification, and grace they can never be separated from God's love. COG ministers need to constantly remind members they can lose their faith and salvation. This is the main way they can keep members under their control.
UCG members need to understand their salvation or faith will not be compromised by going to the beach, a ball game, or a birthday party over some lame-ass sermon you have heard a gazillion times.

What bunch of baloney. Go to the United We’d site and under sermons search on titles with Jesus in it. You get 907. How United differs from Worldwide is a focus on the hope of God’s coming Kingdom and how Christ’s example of agape love is what we should strive to follow.
Yet some UCG congregations have weekend campouts where they hold worship services BY a lake.
It's COGWA that had the problem with members holding their own lakeside getaways. That fire seems to be out now.
Scripture tells us that Christ's sheep hear their Master's voice, and respond to that voice.
People like to enjoy themselves and to better themselves.
If brethren aren't attracted to your group's Sabbath service, if they find the service unpleasant and don't find that they are improved by it, then the problem probably isn't that the brethren are carnal; it's that the ministers are wolves and goats rather than shepherds.
How true 3:42. How true. The 'them and us' mentality has been a breeding ground for bullying becoming rife amongst christianity groups across all forms.
Burnt out athiestisim in preachers is reported as an epidemic amongst fundamental christianity across all denominations and bullying is an epidemic in christianity congregations yet the COG remain silent on much.
The Churches of God have failed by pigeon holing themselves into repeating the themes Herbert Armstrong thought was important in his life time. But Herbert's lifetime ended in 80s and the church has lost that edge of cutting to the truth, telling it how it is. So without real purpose they have spent the last near 50 years devouring each other.
The Pandemic really exposed how far in a world of their own the COG had really gone.
Apostle Paul wrote the truth of the Churches he was dealing with yet the Churches of God these days expect members to behave like employees of Disneyland.
Apathy, millionaire leaders, too much loving the goodlife, abject snobbery international jet setting has caused much damage to the work of God the Church was supposed to be responsible for. Perhaps the seeds of destruction got sown in the Liberal arts aspirations of AC, not enough God and too much the American dream.
The ACOGs feed their members spiritual milk rather than meat, and then complain of the natural consequences. And as usual their solution is that members "fake reality" rather than being authentic. Faking reality is what's behind the commie's advocacy of a "new man" and the ACOGs "human nature needs to change" mantra.
Oh, if only people would be Borg drones, they'd be heaven on earth.

907 sermons that mention Jesus and never delve into what being sanctified and justified by Christ's death and resurrection means. Any mention of Jesus in these sermons is superficial or they use him to somehow justify that the law must be kept, which the new covenant never does. Armstrongism's belief in Christ is superficial, at best. The idiotic claim that Christians do not understand Christ is blasphemous and hypocritical. Grace always comes tied to lawkeeping.
Some ingenious word tripper of a minister will probably see this post and then ask the brethren, "Which lake do you think you are really going to when you take your family to the lake instead of making sure they are in sabbath services as God commands?"

The HWA splinter leaders only mention Jesus or God if it shines the light on themselves. Consider that they have a history of hiding that Christ's death means that all Christian have direct access to God's throne with no middlemen ministers in between. They also have a history of stating Herbs name more than Gods. It's only in recent time that they have changed this somewhat because of complaints from sites like Banned.
