Commercial Break: Sunrise/Sunset. Quickly go the years!

No matter your experience and journey with Church, religious thought and the "what's it all about of life, best wishes to all here on Banned however another year ends for us all and how one does or does not celebrate it.

The 15-minute trip from Christmas past 70 years ago to all of our collective experiences, gives pause for reflecting on life's priorities in the time remaining.

Thank you all for participating in BannedHWA here no matter the personal journey and many and diverse perspectives gained.

While I may personally regret ever having met HWA, may we all have been so lucky as to have met Mr. John LIONEL Cowan along the way!

=============

70 Years Ago, This Christmas: LIONEL TRAINS

My dad spent weeks secretly building the layout for the LIONEL TRAINS I received Christmas of 1955. The setting was mix of cowboy scenery and trains. I awoke Christmas morning to find it all assembled in the dining room.

It was my quiet time when reassembled in the basement where I would sit for hours in another world.

The Orange LIONEL box is classic

That Magical Christmas in 1955

The Post War-Pre 1960's Versions.

In the 1960's LIONEL TRAINS added missiles and military cars to reflect the tensions of the times. The post war versions reflected the return of prosperity, travel and commerce.

There were little white tablets one could drop into the smokestack to get the steam effect.

In one of life's sad moments for me and dad both, dad sold the set for money to go to AC. It's out there somewhere. We always both regretted that.

This Lionel Trains post reveals to us all that, deep down, in the depths of his subconscious, Dennis deeply desires to GET BACK ON TRACK!

Yeah! The transformer. Male and female connectors on each segment of the tracks. Gotta make sure they are secure! Going too fast and jumping the track on the curves. The little pellets you could drop into the smoke stack so it would smoke while running. Hours of pleasant memories. I think it was thrown away with many other things when my parental units joined the Armstrong cult and we first learned that the Germans were coming. Sun went behind the clouds for about twenty years until it emerged again when God failed to validate HWA in 1972-75.

That, my Erector Set, and my English bicycle with the two speed gearbox and front and rear hand brakes provided the early education which led me to become a technician. That has been putting food on the table all these years.

Happy New Year!
