For decades, the church spread its message through pirate radio stations, WLS superstations, and Mexican radio stations. In the cool of late-night evenings, their powerful signals reached deep into the heartland of America.
The World Tomorrow" radio program, presented by Herbert W. Armstrong, was broadcast on Mexican radio stations. 

Specifically, the program was aired over the superpower 100,000-watt station XELO in Juarez, Mexico. This station, having an exclusive channel over the North American continent, could then be heard in virtually every state. 

In addition, the broadcast was also carried by powerful border stations XEG and XERB, along with XELO.

The church expanded, impacting lives in various ways. Church leadership often claimed we existed in a constant state of harmony.

The decline of Armstrongism began in 1971–1972. Prophecies claimed the world would end by 1975, ushering in eternal bliss, with believers dwelling alongside the lion and the lamb. 

One failed prophecy after another tore the church apart. When 1975 passed without event, the focus shifted to new time cycles and myths.

The church limped along, with prosperous years and lean ones. 

Money was squandered in ways that would shock members even today if they knew the full extent.

Beneath the surface, it was a festering cesspool of corruption and deceit. Then, its vulnerability was laid bare.

 
Armstrongism’s greatest vulnerability wasn’t ex-members, dissidents, or the disfellowshipped—it was the internet and WiFi.
When the internet spread, the church’s tightly woven stories began to fray. Headquarters could no longer dictate the narrative. People shed their silence and fear of losing salvation. Ex-members, apostates, critical thinkers, and dissidents, wielding firsthand knowledge of the church’s wrongs, exposed it to scrutiny the leadership couldn’t stifle. They labeled it a “rumor mill” and tried to quash it. They couldn’t.

The truth exposed the church’s gaslighting and lies, which could no longer hold.

Armstrongism thrived on control, relying on members’ perceived ignorance. “Pay, pray, obey, and never question” was the mantra for decades. But with computers and smartphones, the church became a public embarrassment. Never in its history has the extent of its folly been so clear.

Today, the youth are slipping away—quietly, in groups, in waves—realizing fear, guilt, and fantasy aren’t needed to live a good life.

Regular members are leaving too. Some mourn years lost, others feel grateful for their newfound freedom, and many are simply fed up with the lies.

For decades, the church warned that Satan and his forces—through the Catholic Church, world governments, or vast powers—would persecute them. Yet, the Church of God’s reckoning came from within, from its own members.

One thing is certain: the church will never recover. Not next year, not in five years, nor in fifty—if it even survives that long. Freedom and truth have a way of changing everything.

1975 In Prophecy: When Herbert Armstrong and the Jehovah's Witnesses Destroyed Church Members Lives

Who remembers this nonsense?

The original article this was based on was written in 1956 and republished year after year, well into the early 1970s. Each time, the prophecies grew more elaborate. 

Then, lo and behold, 1975 came and went, and Herbert backpedaled so fast even GTA couldn’t keep up. 

Who could forget that in 1971, construction began on Herbert’s $11 million monument to himself, even as members were still told that 1975 would be the final year before everything hit the fan?

Shortly after this, the Worldwide Church of God, Herbert, and others faced lawsuits over financial mismanagement. Around the same time, the Jonestown tragedy unfolded, with 918 people taking their own lives or being killed by their cult leaders.

Armstrongites took these events as clear signs that the end was near and Satan was furious.

Meanwhile, during this same period, the Jehovah’s Witnesses were also unraveling after proclaiming 1975 as the end times. Given that Herbert Armstrong borrowed heavily from the JWs, it’s no surprise they faced nearly identical problems.

Sheldon Monson Claims Many Demons Have Been Cast Out, But...

 

Sheldon Monson's ongoing battle with the spiritual realm continues. He claims that "many demons were cast out, but one blasphemous entity remains." According to him, these demons were not only present at the Texas summer camp but also in the hometown of the young person allegedly possessed.

Thankfully someone with a wise mind made the decision to take the young person to the hospital after the Monday fast and demon-casting-out day. They claim his body is fine, but is still spiritually tormented by a demon.

Can you imagine the torment this young person is enduring because of these ministers? Their life may be forever altered by this disturbing ordeal.

Sadly, some gullible members of the Churches of God are following this saga closely. When Sheldon proclaims full victory, they may view it as a divine sign in these "end times." Will this lead people to leave their current splinter groups and join him?

The entire situation is beginning to seem increasingly suspicious.

I request you pray and fast for teenager B.. (who became demon possessed at camp) and his family. Your prayers and fasting are greatly appreciated. This fiery trial (I Peter 4:12) has been physically and emotionally draining for Pastor..and their children and families.  

 

During the last several days (both at camp and in their hometown) many demons were cast out – yet one blasphemous evil spirit remains. 

 

God has heard the prayers of His people; He has seen their tears and noted their fasting. He said that strong demons come out by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21). 

 

The members and the ministers have done what God requires up till now – but we must continue to pray and have faith that God will complete what He has started. He has made it clear that no man has the power to make the demons leave – and that He will be the one to remove them in His time and in His way. 

 

When this is over the glory will go to Him – not any man. 

 

God removes demons and He heals the sick. The ministers are just tools in His hand that do what He has commanded us to do. God is the one with the power to answer our requests. 

 

Sometimes the healing is immediate, sometimes He casts out the demons immediately, and sometimes we must patiently wait. We must not doubt, we must not waiver. Doubt is a faith killer (Matthew 14:28-33).

The Scriptures state "the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him... (Il Chronicles 16:9). Do not lose hope but rather continue to pray fervently (James 5:16) and "Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord" (Psalm 27:14)! 

God loves family! He loves the F___ family. Please pray that their family will receive B____ back home free of all these evil spirits and soon. He was taken to the hospital after the fast and it appears that he is ok physically. This is a spiritual problem that God has the power to resolve. Stay strong in the faith.

David C. Pack of The Restored Church of God has been claiming to unseal the books of Daniel and Revelation since 2015. This 23-minute compilation is not comprehensive, but it provides an accurate illustration of the prophetic back-and-forth, finished-not-finished doctrinal rollercoaster members of The Restored Church of God have been subjected to since 2012. According to RCG, unsealing Daniel is a process. Not an event. Due to woefully awful reading comprehension skills, the Pastor General has been misreading Revelation 22:10, "Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book," for years. Combined with his belief that he is also featured in Revelation 22, David C. Pack's flawed interpretation is "Unseal the saying of the prophecy of this book." The spirit of error is pervasive in The Restored Church of God. This 23-minute compilation demonstrates this.

David C. Pack of The Restored Church of God has been claiming to unseal the book of Daniel since 2015. This embarrassing supercut illustrates the absurdity of the prophetic doctrines of The Restored Church of God. Featuring clips from 2017 to 2025, the Book of Daniel has been allegedly unsealed multiple times by the Pastor General. This is not all of them. According to RCG, unsealing the Book of Daniel is a process. Not an event. This is one of the reasons why error is so pervasive, and David C. Pack will never be right.

Sheldon Monson Exorcism Fails, Even With UCG's Help - Child Still Supposedly Possesssed

Reports indicate that Sheldon Monson, a leader within the Church of God (COG) community, issued a call to other COG groups to join him and his ministers in an exorcism for a church leader’s child, allegedly possessed by a demon at Lone Star Campgrounds. The United Church of God (UCG) was the only group to respond. Despite UCG’s involvement, a day of prayer and fasting by the Church of God Assembly, and the efforts of Monson’s team, the exorcism was unsuccessful.

This reaching out to other COGs means that LCG was most likely contacted since they were arriving the day after Sheldon's teens left. 

Sheldon and his ministers are gathering to determine their next steps.

Sheldon's big mistake was that he did not invite Bob Thiel, the ONLY true mouthpiece for God on the face of the earth. Only Bobbie can cast demons out as demons fear him, except in Africa, of course.

No one has mentioned whether they tried to take the youth in for psychiatric evaluations and counseling.

These two comments just came through:

Sheldon contacted ministry from multiple splinter groups to ask for help with the exorcism and to request prayers and fasting. A minister from UCG offered help (bless him for crossing counter group lines). Westin 100% knew.

Mark 16:17: Jesus states that believers will cast out demons in his name. 

Sheldon and his minions have failed to remove the demon after attempting to for days so we can clearly discern that they are not "believers". We already knew that of course but it must come as a shock to him and the people who blindly follow his racist cult teachings. I'm sure they are all meeting now to try to figure out who to blame for their failed attempts. Not one of them has the depth of character to self examine and find themselves lacking.

No one can deny that the Churches of God are ever boring!
