Glynn Washington: Why was he in an end of days white supremacist doomsday cult?

See full story here: The birth of Snap Judgment: How the end of the world became the beginning of Glynn Washington’s story

Glynn Washington, the voice behind Snap Judgment, grew up in a white supremacist doomsday cult.

In this episode, Glynn opens up about what that did to his worldview, and how walking away from it all led him to understand the extraordinary power of storytelling.

It’s a conversation about survival, identity, and the magic of stories that refuse to offer any easy endings.

The White Supremacism in Armstrongism rested on the Foundations that the entire world would benefit from the blessings bestowed upon the American Empire.

In a short time...through simple demographics the entire western world will turn into the 3rd world, Zimbabwe or South Africa..... Racist failed States..... Not because of bad people, but because the white man lost its spirit to lead....

‘through simple demographics the entire western world will turn into the 3rd world’……….yes it is happening before our eyes. The London I knew back in the 70s and 80s is unrecognisable now. It is more like Nairobi, Khartoum, Lagos, Algers, Medina……..We have lost our direction and moral compass. ‘Men have forgotten God, that’s why all this has happened’ Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.

People are lying when they call it white supremacist. Playing the race card.

Wcg was a lot of bad things, but i never thought it racist. There were racial teachings to explain how the races came to be that were unfavorable to blacks, but they still treated black brethren as special and superior because they were part of the WCG. They did believe that races should not intermarry which has old testament support.
And, yes, many were proud in their mistaken belief they came from Jacob/Israel.
Still they claimed that there was neither Jew nor gentile as long as one had Armstrong.
I think this led to a supremism that flowed from the belief they were part of the genetic line of Abraham that received earthly blessings. But, it seemed most based their opinion of someone primarily on whether they were a believer in Armstrongism. The new chosen.
I know at AC (to a lesser degree) and among other black church friends that the dating scene was frustrating because they had more limited choices. I will also say that at AC there were a lot of amazing black girls in every way that had me thinking the policy was far too limiting , but it was just taken as the way it had to be. But, it was still limited for these black men (who were also outstanding) and women because outstanding or not sometimes people just don’t click. Anyway, some of these girls never got married to my knowledge and rightfully recognize this is largely due to the racial and religious teachings of Armstrong. While marriage isn’t the goal of life, most desire it and these young women would have created outstanding marriages. Sorry for the ramble; i suppose my point is that racism wasn’t the deal as much as an induced racialism.

Basically, what I've found to be true is that many people who were once indoctrinated in Armstrongism have adopted the language and cliches of entirely different groups of people, and now cite those cliches instead of BI to support white supremacy.

There is such a thing as growth as a human being, making a concerted effort to identify the highest and best concepts, and to adopt them as one's own. Most people take what they are at their core, and never rise above it. They just find new ways of supporting what they always have believed. We've certainly seen, via various comments, how people fight to support their racism, BI or not.

The only reason BB saw racism in BI is because of the American context/laws/culture of the tine..... That btw nowadays is poisoning the entire Western World with the identity politics..

I would agree to this Systematic Racism thing they invented...... However accepting that would mske all jews, chinese and japanese racist too.

As I understand it, race is a man-made idea with no real basis in science. There is really only one race, the human race. Interracial marriages weren't forbidden in Scripture, as far as I know, but interfaith ones were. The scattering of people at the tower of Babel was done by confusing their languages, not segregating by skin color. Then there is the issue of who is part of which race. If an Egyptian comes to America is he an African American. If a white racist from S. Africa comes to America is he an African American. The only white people I know are albinos I've seen in Tanzania.

I'm disappointed that he didn't give more information about his church experiences and no mention of his religious journey.

I’m in my early 40’s, a Millennial, and a former WCG/GCG/LCG attendee.

The prohibition or denunciation of interracial marriage is racist. I heard about this growing up and from the pulpit as well. It didn’t sit right with me. I’d rather hear Dr. King’s, “I Have A Dream” than any of this genealogical nonsense. Genealogical nonsense applying to BI as well.

As I changed groups and more ministers or their wives were Latino/Latina. The new doctrine became as long as the colors aren’t too far a part but God forbid you ever have a black man and white girl.

My former association is still racist but they’re more limited in scope.

Red hats and white hoods are definitely being shown in this threads comments.

I just hope open minded members who find out more about HWA and his nonsense that the current groups carry on find the strength to leave.

The World Tomorrow is a brighter one if you leave your COG today.

RE: 725

The policy not allowing interracial marriage is by definition racist. I don’t know how you look back at that time and are like was it really that bad?

You still think all black people came from HAM and his ancestry and that they were all cursed from assaulting Noah?

How many black evangelists were there? Or people of color higher than the rank of minister?

If you truely sipported your

RE 724

How do you look back at that time and not unequivocally say WCG or whatever group you were in was racist?

If you truest wanted to support your black friends you’d say Get Out like a Jordan Peele movie.

Everything from the “cursed children of Ham” through British Isrealism was racist.

How many black evangelists or ministers can you recall? Anyone making it past the rank of minister? If they were black than they were probably at a predominately black church because white guys would get their panties in a bunch if they had to respect the leadership of a black man especially in the south.

He has done that in previous programs, quite extensively.

Nck, where are you going with this? There is certainly racism present amongst Jews. Ever hear of the term "Schvartze"? How about "Goy" ? "The mud people"? Leaders of Japan and China used to periodically get themselves in trouble by proclaiming that America's problem was that they let their greatness be diluted by all manner of mongrel people. Why the Japanese people even named one of their sports cars "Miyata" That name certainly caused a lot of laughter in the Barrio!

Anyone who spent their teenage years as a pariah because of Armstrongism should have respect and compassion for those who suffered as pariahs not because of religion, but because of their race! It all boils down to the same ugly stuff. Had it not been for my Jewish, Black, and Latino friends, and their acceptance of me, life would have been a total dud. Especially my Latino family that I married into, and the Japanese manufacturer which has facillitated the very pinnacle of my successful career. Collectively, they have all been part of my solution to the Armstrong problem! They are, in microcosm, my America, the basis for my world view, my status as a citizen of the world!

True. On certain biological levels one can differ more from ones next door Caucasian than a Congolese person.

Until the 1900's...."race" meant "country/people".

"African American" is only a "race" in the meaning of the pre19th century (non racist) meaning as they would speak of the "Egyptian Race", Algerian Race".... all being of the "Arab Race".

The fact that HWA appointed a black evangelist is absolute proof that in essence the Church was not racist racist but culturally racist.... that's why in the original 7 rules of success.... ambitious hwa rails against those blacks just sitting idle in the front of their houses.

The Ham thing was an explanation..... not an excuse..... exactly in the manner that "not many wise man now are called" was an explanation or a fact, not an excuse, as all the 1970 's church bulletins show....it was not an excuse not to pursue a good education..... as in ALL issues performing youth were highlighted.

On a micro and personal level.
That is a very powerful statement.
