Wadsworth Mayor Kisses Up To Dave

Dave Pack is giddy with delight right now with the fact the the recent news story about his cult HQ expansion has traveled all around the country and to some of the foreign press.  It's not like these papers were awed by the news they heard about Packs new HQ.  The fact is, they are all part of a paper syndicate that shares stories when there is nothing else worthwhile to post.  Most are home town papers.

Pack has taken this as God's hand at work in exposing his ministry as the largest and most important Church of God in human history.  To give further credence to his magnificence he quotes part of a letter that he received from the Mayor of Wadsworth:

“Congratulations on the Beacon Journal Article. I thought the article was quite good and you certainly received prime placement! The Restored Church of God has called Wadsworth their home for many years now, and we look forward to the development of the campus for their headquarters. It will certainly be a welcome addition to our community. It has been a pleasure to work with The Restored Church of God with their plans and we are appreciative they chose Wadsworth for their exciting expansion.”

This Mayor is probably like the Mayors of Pasadena that paid lip service to the WCG over the years, showed up for events and concerts and then laughed at and talked behind the backs of the very chruch officials they were drinking with hours earlier.

Perhaps it is time to let the Mayor of Wadsworth know what kind of cult he has in his midst!

COGWA Ready To Pump Out Useless Diplomas

What is with all the various harlot daughters of the Worldwide Church of God that feel they need to establish "colleges" that pump out useless degrees and certificates?  For decades Armstrongism mocked Christianity for having colleges and seminaries, yet they do the exact same thing.

Flurry started his little "college." Meredith has his.  United has one. Dave Pack is building another one.  Ron Weinland is in the same boat too, which is probably a good thing since he is soon to be incarcerated for tax evasion and therefore could not run his college.

Now the Churches of God are blessed with yet another institution that will be pumping out useless degrees and certificates.  Church of God a Worldwide Association has now started the Foundation Institute Center for Biblical Understanding

Helping individuals establish a foundation built upon the eternal laws and principles of living that will enable people to have a full, happy and exciting physical life and ultimately eternal life in the family of God—this is a vital goal of the Ministerial Board of Directors and the administrative leadership of the Church. It is with that goal in mind  that they have established the Foundation Institute, Center for Biblical Education.

If they weren't serious, this could be take as a big joke.  What kind of biblical understanding are they talking about?  They certainly will NOT be using highly educated biblical scholars to educate their people.  They will be using their own tunnel vision ministers who think they know all.  Plus, the myriads of books articles and videos of HWA will be used as important tools.  Their "education" will be stuck in pre-1986 mode, yet again.  And what kind of "full, happy and exciting life" are they talking about?  The one filled with suicides, depression, alcoholism, and cultic characteristics?  That is the legacy the Churches of God presently have.

All this world needs is another puppy mill dishing out little clones of Lil' Joel and crew.

At least I can hand it to them for not using a derivative of Ambassador College/University.

Fundies and Armstrongism: 99% Leviticus and 1% Luke

Here is a great observation on what fundamentalism is and conservative thought in Armstrongism.

That’s the problem with fundies. They’re 99% Leviticus and 1% Luke. They know the words of Paul by heart but have to look up the words of Jesus, the one they’re allegedly following.

I found this to be particularly true of Armstrongism.  They can quote Leviticus forward and backwards.  They know all the laws, rules and regulations.  But ask them to tell you what Luke is all about and they can't.  They know all the things that Paul said NOT to do, but cannot tell you about the things Jesus did without looking them up. And they wonder why no one finds them credible anymore!

The above quote is from a blog that is following a conference at Bob Jones University and was in the"comments" section on Stuff Fundies Like: BJU Bible Conference Messages

If the Bible is all about Jesus don’t you think Bible conference messages would mention him
with at least the frequency that they mention…
