James Malm: No BBQing, Buying Gas, Eating Out on Saturdays, But If You Do Eat Out You Might As Well Pay For A Whore Too!

The chief Pharisee of the Churches of God is back today laying down the law on what is proper and not proper for Saturdays.

At no time should you fire up the BBQ on Saturdays and cook yourself a steak or beef hot dog.  No fixing salads or taking effort to cut a watermelon.  You should do that on Fridays anyway!

If you have to drive a distance to church then fill up on Friday and DO NOT spend extra money for gas if you need to get home!  If you have to do that then you are driving too far.

You are not allowed to bake, boil, simmer or seethe on Saturday.  I know a lot of seething church members by the end of some of the sermons, are they allowed to seethe too?

Exodus 16:22
“And it came to pass that on the sixth day, they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. And Moses told them, this is that which the Lord hath said. Tomorrow is the rest of the Holy Sabbath unto the Eternal. Bake that which you will bake today. And seethe or simmer or boil that which you will seethe today and that which remains overlay for you to be kept until the morning.” And in giving this command, Jesus Christ was telling the people that they are not to bake, or simmer, or boil, or  to seethe. They are not to do any kind of cooking on the Sabbath Day. No serious cooking of any kind.

Now I myself will go ahead and put a piece of bread in the toaster. Or warm up some water for a coffee or a tea. Or even heat up a previously prepared container of soup. Or warm up something on a cold winter’s day up here in Canada. But I am not going to start frying a steak, or barbecuing, or roasting meat, or boiling potatoes, or doing any kind of serious cooking. Cooking is for the preparation day; which is the day before the Sabbath.

What about the person who has to drive 30 or 40 miles to attend a service? All I can say is fill up your gas tank on Friday. Prepare a little boxed lunch on Friday. Do your preparation on Friday.

No, absolutely not. No extensive travel and no travel for personal reasons. Travel should be for Godly reasons, should be very, very limited in scope and duration; and should not involve any expense. If you have to buy an extra tank of gas on a Sabbath, the trip is too far. Don’t go. Make some kind of other arrangement. It can be done. Things can be worked out. You can work around these things and truly make God’s Sabbath a delight.

So now you have done all these things are at church and have set through the most god awful sermon ever preached.  Afterwards you turn to your friend and start talking about it, or your kids, or the latest world news event.  If you do that you are a grievous sinner bound to t the lake of fire because you have PROFANED Saturday!

A convocation is ONLY holy if it is God centered!  If you go to a service to hear a sermon and then talk ONLY about work and business, the weather, clothes and babies you have PROFANED that convocation and God’s sabbath.  Out of one’s mouth come those things that are dearest to one’s heart Mat 12:34.  If your heart and mind are not on the things of God, your mouth will reveal this.
God forbid if you friend invites you out to eat after church on Saturday.  If you do that you might as well go find a whore and pay her (or him) too.  It is a sin to do that, a MAJOR sin since Malm has it all in CAPS.

It is NOT LAWFUL to buy goods and services in restaurants or other establishments.  To say that we may buy, because they are going to work anyway, makes a mockery of God’s way.  For that excuse justifies ALL SIN; there is NO SIN that men are not going to do ANYWAY!  Let us then use the whore, for she will do it anyway.  Why not have our enemy murdered, for the killer will kill anyway.  This is a juvenile and pathetic excuse to justify SIN.
Pharasee Malm wants you to know that he is SINLESS when it comes to these rules.  He has not sinned on Saturdays in 30 years!

I ask YOU;   WHERE IS YOUR FAITH?   If you make an HONEST EFFORT TO PLEASE GOD,  don’t you think that He WILL HELP YOU?  Most problems involving Sabbath pollution through buying and selling can be resolved simply and easily, with a little forethought, planning and effort. I have avoided this sin for thirty years and it has been difficult at times but God has always provided a way.
Talk about convoluted legalistic crap!

I'm assuming that he's not speaking about a religious whore who pimps himself out on the Sabbath to work so he can collect tithes on the other days of the week. I assume.

At least he's somewhat consistent: He's fine with his ISP letting the server where his stuff is crash on the Sabbath and not let it be worked on until sundown... in the region where the sun sets... and who knows where that might be.

Globalization sure makes keeping the Sabbath problematic. And the Feasts? The fall festival is in the springtime in Australia. In fact, those Kiwis in New Zealand -- should they observe the Sabbath on our Friday or wait until their Sunday? Won't the day begin and end for the earth at Jerusalem in the millennium?

It boggles the mind.

But just to be sure, based on Jesus' example (as Lord of the Sabbath, you know), it's OK if you are walking along on the Sabbath to pick wild blackberries and eat them, if (and only if) you are hungry.

And never mind, the guy at the power plant was going to work anyway....

DennisCDiehl said...

When Jesus is said to have said, "for the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath, he was not speaking of himself as "the son of man." He was not taking it upon himself to decide Sabbath stuff. He was saying, "For human beings are more important than the Sabbath" therefore, they can be healed, eat and get their oxen out of ditches if need be. Human needs take presidence over Sabbath keeping. Which of course common sense today tells us is so.

What amazes me is that when these people paint themselves into scripture, they somehow never find their proper role. Malm would have been right there standing with the Pharisees, nodding his head as his group confronted Jesus.

Yep, best not to think about that guy at the power plant, or the water plant, or the gas company, who were going to be working anyway. Only think about the ladies at the restaurants and brothels. Go ahead, leave your refrigerator plugged in, feel free to turn your lights on and off, use the toaster or the microwave, and open and close the faucets at will! Sure, turn on the stove and heat some water...just be sure not to let it boil! You can cook, just so long as you're not serious about it. And of course, James Malm is the mouthpiece of the gods to decide for all mankind which cooking falls on the "serious" side of the line and which cooking falls on the "non-serious" side of the line. Whatever dude. Let me guess, ramen cup'o'noodles? Non-serious. Ramen cup'o'noodles...with hot sauce added? SERIOUS!!! LOL

Malm is a very good Armstrongite, but he's a very bad Jew. While the extreme orthodox Jews are far from perfect, they've thought these things through a lot further than James Malm has, and any one of them could point out a hundred inconsistencies without even trying of where he's cherry-picked just the few things that appeal to him, and ignored vast tracts of "commandments" that seem a little too "inconvenient" for his sensibilities. Too bad there's no virtue at all in the whole enterprise of trying to be perfect...

"A convocation is ONLY holy if it is God centered!"
And sometimes, not even then...maybe even all times...

"If you make an HONEST EFFORT TO PLEASE GOD, don’t you think that He WILL HELP YOU?
Never did before. Why would he start now?

Umm, I threw it out. Why?

If you're going to profane the sabbath by microwaving soup, you might as well get some bang for your buck and profane it like you mean it, not like Malm's weak tea. Well, I'm off to the brothel. I can't afford more than an hour, so I should be home before the sabbath is over. Ta ta!

We where told to rejoice in the Sabbath. I always felt guilty that I was breaking the Sabbath in some way. So that is legalism in a nut shell. No matter how well you may be keeping the law there is always the fear that your efforts are not good enough and you are headed straight to condemnation. This is very destructive emotionally.
Even though I am so glad that I am out of Armstrongism the damage has been done. I am trying to have a normal life and heal but some of the scars may nag me for the rest of my life.

I guess that God will not light the Lake of Fire on the Sabbath -- it's too much work. Just let it burn.

And while you're at it, pre tear your toilet paper and don't flush.

You too can be the finest Olde Testament Christian Pharisee ever!

Preparation day. Preparation day. Let's see now -- what used to take all day with heavy cooking now takes seconds in the microwave. Oh, phooey on it! Just stay in bed all day with the covers over your head!

The Sabbath was supposed to be made for man and not the man for the Sabbath, but the way it looks, it was made for one man: James Malm. Like he knows.

And hey, it's not just him: Art Braidic and Dennis Fischer of the Eternal Church of God came up with the booklet and the amusing website first. Congrats on showing off the hypocrisy of the ACoGs, particularly United! Love it! If you're going to be an Olde Testament Christian Pharisee, at least be consistent with it and don't just toss Ezra and Nehemiah.

Black Ops Mikey said...

This Sabbath is particularly challenging because Sunday is Pentecost.

As you all know, while it is just wrong to prepare food on the Sabbath (or eat out), it's perfectly fine to do all the heavy cooking and preparation you need to do because it is an holyday. Now it's not like the commanded feasts of the Old Testament for Israelites of that time where they had altars and animal sacrifices -- the basis and fundamental key to the feasts. It's not like that at all. Animal sacrifices, the temple and the altar with the Levite priests have been done away -- just not the feasts: The feasts have not been done away because... because... well, G. G. Rupert said so. We are to keep everything in the Old Testament dispensation except animal sacrifices even if you are not Israelite (and the United States and British Commonwealth are not: write for our free booklet, DNA Refutes British Israelism) because though you are thoroughly Gentile and probably descended directly from the Barbarians, you are spiritual Israelites, seed of Abraham (even though he didn't keep the feasts), so you need to keep all the Old Testament Law of Moses, including the Feasts which were not all revealed at once but were given one at a time over time.

Now tomorrow celebrates the day the Holy Spirit was given. The Israelites didn't have it, so we keep it like the ancient Israelites, sort of, but expect totally different results by having more of the fruit of the spirit, especially faith, of the which, the ancient Israelites were totally devoid.

So you sort of have a "double Sabbath" even though that's a real conceptual stretch given there is no temple, no Levites and no heavy heave offerings for the altar(s).

We're sure that David Malm can handily resolve these issues, but it is puzzling that he has not done so, since Pentecost is near upon us and we have no instructions from him about it, like, if you had to travel and stay in a hotel to keep Pentecost where you are required to give an offering (WE WANT MONEY! Not doves or sheep, oxen or goats! And certainly not fruit and vegetables!), how do you eat? You shouldn't fast. And then there's all that travel.

What to do. What to do.

Without our Apostle Malm we're so lost and helpless.

Great. One down, nine more to go...

Luke 18:
10 Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.
12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me a sinner!
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

Since James is busy boasting and exalting himself, I guess he's in the market for a little humiliation?

...and another thing, here's a story:

While I was in Washington State back in late 2005, my friend and I in the PCG were taking a trip to a church feast in Oregon We first needed to drive to pick up her son as he was to attend also.

My friend was reminded several times by myself to pick up her son and my suit coat from the cleaners earlier that day as I did not have a car but she did. Well she forgot so we are now on our way to pick up her son. He will not have his coat and neither will I and it is sunset on Friday now,>Sabbath<.

So we're on our way and I am not happy about not having my coat. I told this friend that we need to stop and pick the coats up, as I felt this was "an ox in the ditch" situation. She didn't agree with me so we continued on "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" and by this time since we hadn't got too far from the cleaners I insisted we pick them up. My friend decided to call our minister and ask him what he thought. He told us no, we should not stop to pick them up, as it was already the Sabbath.

What he didn't know that I knew was that my friend had already stopped at several stores, went in and purchased some drinks and food before she called him. During our long trip, now very much the >Sabbath<, my friend saw nothing wrong with stopping five or six more times at a convenience store and purchasing MORE snacks.

We had discussed earlier and I was trying to get her to see that all she would be doing to pick up our coats is handing the clerk money and leaving with our coats. She could not seem to get the connection between handing a cleaner clerk money and handing a convenience store clerk money(more than six times during the trip), and especially since >MR. MINISTER SAID SO!<

Long boring story, I know.

The liberal Dutchman in me saved me from hurting my kids too badly with sabbath bunk. Every friday night we'd head to family swim at the Y and jammie up for Dunkin Donuts on the way home.

After church in the morning if I did not have to make the trip to another service, we'd go to the Toledo zoo and up to Lake Erie shores, or have a weekly church picnic down by the Old Mill Stream (the real one)

I have records of their immunizations too and even a few of their youthful birthday cakes.

No regrets...Thank you jebus

Today, Sunday, millions of people around the earth are celebrating Whitsunday. This day is related to Beltane an ancient pagan celebration where various objects are 'blessed.' This day is always 50 days after EASTER.

Today, thousands of cogs are also keeping this day. They ignorantly call this day the feast of Pentecost, but since Pentecost simply means 'fiftieth day' in Greek, and is not the name that Yahweh gave to the true Holy day that He commanded, which He called the Feast of Weeks, then one can only surmise that it is slang which, unfortunately, opened the door for deception to the generations that would later come not knowing that the fiftieth day relates to the 50 days following the first high day of Unleavened Bread, and not to some pagan feast that falls 50 days after Easter.

Satan is a deceiver. He is the chief of liars. His purpose is to confuse people so that they will observe days that point away from Yahweh and His plan. He knows that people are generally lazy and thus, much easier to deceive than the ones that dig deep into the scriptures and believe those scriptures with all their mind, heart and soul. He knows that most will become lax and careless with their opportunity for salvation. That they would not take Yahshua's words seriously. That they would just glance over the words and not ponder or mediate on what they mean. In their laziness they dismiss the truth losing their love of the truth, while at the same time believing that they are alright with Yahweh.

An example of this can be shown in Matt.23:2-3
Mat 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
Mat 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

Yahshua made it very plain that the scribes and the Pharisees had authority and that what they taught to be observed should be followed, but what they do, do not. The only thing that pertains to what should be observed, are the Holy Days.

The Sadducees and the Samaritans, on the other hand, did not get His approval for what they believed and taught. Yahshua found them to be in error: Mat 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. Yahshua likewise, did not have a high regard for the Samaritans. Joh 4:22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

It is interesting that today many in the cogs would correctly state that time has not been lost and that the Jews have kept the Sabbath faithfully down through the ages, yet some how, lost the knowledge concerning the proper timing of Passover and the Feast of Weeks. They would, in their ignorance and self deception, have the attitude that they know more than the Jews and that they have all truth, when in fact, over the years instead of researching deeper and deeper for additional insights and revelation, they have cut themselves off from Yahweh's spirit.

Finally, I point to the apostle Paul who was a Pharisee (as was Yahshua),
Acts 26:5 Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

Philippians 3:5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;

As a Pharisee, Paul would have kept Passover and the Feast of Weeks according to the teachings of the Pharisees. If he was wrong, it would be sin unto him and most assuredly would have been corrected by Yahshua.

The Pharisees had authority over the Gentile Christians? Really?

And after the Holy Spirit came and the Pharisees didn't get it, they have authority over any Christians? Really?

Could you cite a scripture proving that Jesus was a Pharisee? I've read opinions that He was Essene, but never that He was a Pharisee.

Corky said...

Well, "Sweetblood 777", I wouldn't put too much stock in what Jesus said to the Samaritans because Jesus thought that the Samaritans were gentiles when in fact they were Israelites.

Yep, tis true, and genetics says it is. Therefore, the Samaritans could have been none other than the remnants of the northern 10 tribes that were left in the land after the Assyrians tried their level best to slaughter them all.

Of course, that's what the Samaritans had been saying all along, since the days of Ezra and Nehemiah, but the Jews never believed them. That's probably also the reason the Jews hated the Samaritans so much.

The Samaritan woman said, John 4:20 "Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship." She said that because she believed that Yahweh had named that mountain as the place to worship him - which was true and Jacob had dug the well there (John 4:12).

And, that's why Jesus said, John 4:21 - "Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father."

So, when Jesus said, Joh 4:22 "Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews" he was wrong. The Samaritans worshiped Yahweh because they were Israelites and they knew they were but Jesus didn't know.

Sweetblood777, I don't know whether this factors into your understanding, but the Jewish/Israelite government and temple during the lifetime of Jesus, while they were in authority, were actually sham operations.

Herod and his family were not even natural born Israelites. They were Idumeans.. The Idumeans converted to Judaism after the conquest led by Hyrcanus. Herod was appointed by the Romans.

Annas did not come into the high priesthood through normal Jewish ascendancy. He was of the priestly line, but was appointed by the predecessor of Pilate, was later deposed, and his son in law Caiaphas succeeded him. These were also puppets of the Romans.

I can understand that, legitimate or not, these people were in authority, however it is not my understanding that the activities in the temple or the Sanhedrin of that day would provide any type of standard or example for what was correct in God's sight.

The Essenes, on the other hand, were a separatist group who took umbrage with the Roman dominated government, and what was transpiring within Herod's temple. There were also extremists, zealots who were conspiring to overthrow the Romans. These were regularly apprehended and executed for treason.

Of course that hypocrite Malm can avoid eating out, buying gas, etc. on the Sabbath. He never goes to church because there's no church righteous enough for him. He stays home in easy reach of his refrigerator and toaster.

What a self-righteous fool.

Byker Bob said...

4:42, the self-righteousness is all related to Freud's anal retentive triad. It sounds Koo Koo, but anal retentives insist on making everyone around them be anal retentive too! They can't seem to happily coexist with any other personality type, and here we have an example of this being enforced by a religious system!

Recently, a poster made me hyper aware of the lengths these people will go to when he mentioned that one of the old WCG ministers had told him years ago that the saxophone was a bastardized or hybrid instrument that probably wouldn't exist in the kingdom. I thought of all the beautiful saxophone music I'd heard over the years, and wondered how anyone could even make such a statement. The musical instruments are all man-made in the first place. Even a natural instrument such as a ram's horn has been sculpted or modified by man.

James Malm wrote: "... Most problems involving Sabbath pollution through buying and selling can be resolved simply and easily, with a little forethought, planning and effort. I have avoided this sin for thirty years and it has been difficult at times but God has always provided a way..."

Really! No Sabbath pollution in 30 years? That is quite a boast from James Malm's tongue, but is it really true?

And then Anon June 8, 2014 at 1:47 AM concluded with writing:

"...Since James is busy boasting and exalting himself, I guess he's in the market for a little humiliation?..."

James may need to be very aware of what out of his mouth, over his lips and off his tongue! That little tongue can boast a lot!

James (the James of the Bible: one of the sealed Firstfruits!)tells us:

James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Even if I were to "buy off" on James Malm's 30-year boast and believe what he actually said, I would venture to say that there would be other Sabbath sins in James Malm's life.

In other words, I would venture to say that James Malm (unless he was Jesus Christ's twin brother, or as perfect as Christ was) has never in his entire life kept/observed one Sabbath sinless, perfect, in his entire life!

Is James Malm so different from the apostle Paul who said the following about his own daily life?

Romans 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

And if that weren't enough, Paul said this about himself (also a sealed Firstfruit):

:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

So, just how would all of James Malm's commandment-keeping, with zeal, avoid that sin in him and evil present with him on any Sabbath day during his entire life? All it takes is just one evil thought, one sin...

James continues to point his fingers at others, but cannot see the sin/evil within himself...and his remaining fingers do point back to him!

We strive to do the best we can with whatever we have (and we do also have within each of us what James 4:5 says), but to use the tongue to boast that one is perfectly keeping all "things (e.g. Sabbath day...all 24 hours...all 1440 minutes of every Sabbath) of God".........well, I find that to be a stretch of the imagination from James Malm! And yes, James, that was quite some boast on your part!
