Straining A Gnat To Find The Miniscule Moon Rise In 2014

To illustrate how legalistic James Malm is, get a load of what he has to go through in order to determine the PRECISE time his "holy" days will start in 2014.  Malm and his little band of legalists would rather prostitute themselves to legalistic laws than follow Jesus.

Holy Day Dates:   Just before the Feast I was in correspondence with Brian Convery about the timing of Holy Days for the next year.  It was clear to me that with only a .5% illumination the new year was unlikely to begin at sunset March 31.

There is only a very tiny remote chance, maybe 5%,  that the new year will begin at sunset ending 31 March, and if it does not, then it will definitely begin the next evening.

Brian agrees with me; although we will still have observers watching to make absolutely sure.

Brian writes [and I agree]:

Let’s see, March 31st 2014. I have a probable chance. It being a 109.1 on the algorithm from Bruce [Armstrong]. We have seen it at that, once in the past, but the conditions were perfect with no Mediterranean haze. Bruce actually has April 2nd  [as the new moon] on the chart. The evening of [sunset ending] April 1st is a given at 275.6. One could almost see that through a cloud.

September 25 [ending sunset] is the same scenario at 98.58 but with little chance [Virtually NO Chance] of seeing it. Everything would need to be perfect and one would need a very sharp set of eyes. The next night [sunset ENDING Sep 26] is once again a given. When I put up the dates for next year on the site I will probably post April 2nd and September 27th with the caveat that there is a slight potential of visibility the preceding evening.

This means that, with a tiny miniscule  possibility of beginning a day earlier; the Holy Days for 2014 will be:

Spring Holy DaysNew year new moon 2 April; Passover  15 April;  ULB  15-22 April; Pentecost  8 June.

Fall High Days:  Feast of Trumpets  27 Sep; Atonement  Oct 6; Feast of Tabernacles 11-17; the Eighth Day Oct 18.

There is no exact 19 year time cycle. Herbie lied about that. The length of days and lunar months gradually lengthens and after 3000 years the Old Hebrew calendar is broken, the cracks are showing, and it cannot be fixed. The old order Jews are in a bind over this because there is nobody today who has the authority to correct the calendar and they know it is badly in need of correction (i.e. fudging with more theological BS).

This must be part of the "simplicity that is in Christ" and "for my yoke is easy and my burden is light," we have heard so much about. I know that's in the New Testament but sometimes one should base theology on the New Testament. Maybe it's just me.

People believe that a god goes around inventing calendars for them? The same god that thinks a thousand years is only one day? The same god that thinks that "at hand" and "shortly" means thousands of years?

hmmm, so now the weather plays a part in setting the calendar?

Sure God invents calendars. He says he gave sun and moon for days, months and years.
Don't get too picky on all this.
Hebrew calendar is pretty good and pretty accurate.
Try making one yourself. It ain't easy.

Syrian Joe: The problem with Malm and his so called calendar is that he claims the Jews and the rabbis are highly IGNORANT about the calendar and are using a pagan Babylonian calendar instead of God's. Malm of course thinks he has "God's" true calendar.

"BANNED" KAROKE NIGHT TONIGHT!

Moeller first up, singing along to the tune
"IF I CAN HAVE TIME IN A BOTTLE" by Jim Croce...

If Malm could save time in a bottle...
The first thing that he'd like to do
Is to screw with your head every day
Till Eternity passes away
Just to make you his idiot fool too...

If Malm could make days last forever...
If his words could make his wishes come true
He'd wreck every day with a pleasure and then,
Again, I would NEVER spend them with you!

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're NOT the one I want to go
Through time with...

If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were NOT answered by you!

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're NOT the one I want to go
Through time with

Betting pool time...

I will lay 20 to one odds on the new moon showing as the initial betting line, and will move the line according to the market action betting action on both sides of the wager.

I will take just a nominal 10% "vigorish" for providing the betting pool and line.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FAKE declaration of Holy Days even if this is 100,000% sure. It is the Sanhedrin that declares the New Moon, and there is sacred chant that must be pronounced correctly to sanctify this day. These people are playing with sacred things and I won't be surprised they end up the same way as the German Nazi's ending in that movie Raiders of the Lost Ark for tampering with what is holy. Someone should tell these people that God hates presumptuousness and he surely will curse those who took into their hands what is not their responsibility. If God is in control of the whole universe, surely, He has a reason why a Sanhedrin does not exist today to declare when is the Holy Day.

Not only that, but apparently individual eyesight comes into play--which kind of begs the question, who should be relied on to make that judgement? You could go insane thinking of all the potential legalistic angles in Malm's life (he may going down that road right now).

What if it there is complete cloud cover for days on end?? Do you just pick a day????

"If God is in control of the whole universe, surely, He has a reason why a Sanhedrin does not exist today to declare when is the Holy Day. "

The main reason is that the Romans kicked Israel's ass in 70 AD and put an end to the whole thing. So the God in control of the whole universe seemed to have lost control of that part.

This confusion is probably deliberate and by divine design. It makes it impossible to "keep" the shadows or school teacher in our New Covenant times. Boy, you really have to work hard to contaminate the New Covenant with all of the fulfilled elements of the Old Covenant! But, I guess these guys feel like they've got the key!

Byker Bob I maintain that your comments are awesome. Consider this post in lieu of a "like" button.

The fact that there is no Sanhedrin that exist today and God allowed the Romans to kick the Jews in the ass and destroy not just the temple but the whole temple system clearly shows that these new moons and holy day things are not needed for salvation today. Malm is not only dangerously playing with holy things, these aren't even required for salvation.

How does this work in the Southern Hemisphere?

And what's with the Fall Festival this year beginning in the summer?

Don't you suppose that if God really wanted Christians to keep the Feasts He would make it clear how to make the "right" calendar and not leave it to the Jews who don't have the Holy Spirit, rejected Jesus as the Christ and know their calendar is wrong but can't fix it because there is no Sanhedrin? (The Jewish calendar puts the spring equinox April 6 / 7 -- how messed up is that?)

ummm, following the shadow will lead you to the body casting that shadow....

following the Feasts of the Lord will lead you to Jesus.

and although you are grown and no longer under a schoomaster, that does not negate anything the schoolmaster taught you....

so, there is no confusion for those with "eyes & ears"...

as Dennis said in his most recent post...context.

I just returned from a Christian Crusade Healing Revival where I was onstage, had hands laid upon me with prayer, and the pastor took off my glasses and smashed them with the heels of his cowboy boots and assured me that my eyesight has been fully restored by Jesus and the Holy Spirit while the crowd went wild.

Problem is, I still have trouble seeing distance, got two tickets for running red lights on my way home, and when I look up at night, I can't quite see the moon now.

Does this mean I no longer have to keep the Holy Days?

Or, if my mischievous neighbor drives by and moons me again at close range and I can see his butt, should I base my calendar on that?

Anonymous, clearly, your past experiences in Armstrongism have left your faith in a weakened condition, and the healing was thwarted by residual doubt in the authenticity of this healing revival!

I'm also thinking that you must have violated the Golden Rule in some way with regard to your neighbor to make him moon you, butt it is only proper to mark time from gross events, not simple pranks. If your neighbor has recently been influenced by reading Chaucer, and actually blows a thunderous fart while mooning you, it would be totally appropriate to start your calendar from that point in time. Just don't hallucinate about Noah's flood, and you should be on safe ground.

And, seriously, Dude? If you are that concerned about the holydays, you need to find a reliable accountability partner, younger than yourself, who can make sure you keep the holydays even if you succumb to Alzheimers.

I'm thinking there seem to be too many "Anonymouses" posting which were probably FORBIDDEN by their cult leaders or else they wouldn't be "anonymous"?!

I've considered getting a name to use in here, but haven't had the time (or thought of it when I had time)...

need to get an e-mail addy and set up an account I suppose....but then, I just pop in here on occasion, spur of the moment kind of thing......so creating an account just for this blog isn't a high priority right now....

but you are probably right Britain, the leadership of my group would likely frown on my participation here.....they've frowned on other things I've done, and I've frowned on some things they've done, so I guess we're even ;-)
