Big Sandy Campus Featured In Primetime Nightline Story
I while back I had an entry on The Alert Academy who bought the Big Sandy campus. It is run by a fundamentalist Baptist oriented sect that encourages large families. Check out the Bates family with 18 kids and counting. They are featured on the Big Sandy Campus in this Primetime Nightline story.

It's so amazing that all the shrill persistent hyperbole about how this was "The GREATEST WORK IN THE WHOLE WORLD" has shriviled up and blown away with the Great Empire of Herbert Armstrong gone for good along with the properties of the Radio and Worldwide Church of God.
It's as if it never existed at all.
I just read Carla Powers "Matches in the Gas Tank" about growing up in Big Sandy during the 60's and her journey back when her father was dying.
One of the most affirming things I read in that book was when she recognized that the Armstrong empire was gone but she was still here.
Despite my griefs over the past, celebrating my survival is definitely ssomething I want to take time to do now and again.

MY COMMENT: This brings back memories of the article about the Roman Empire and why it fell. I think Herbie had seven reasons. Not quite sure(I wish I could find that article again). I remember one of them was sexual deviance, one that certainly applies to Herbie and Teddy. Another one was corruption at the top. Hmmm. I bet everyone of those reasons apply to Herbie's empire.
This relgious group seems almost as extreme in its beliefs as the Armstrongite groups.
I bet they belive in strickly tithing as well. How else could they afford a large complex like the old Big sandy campus?
For one thing, that doctor she was seeing for her pregnancy problems needs to lose his license to practice. Last I checked, they werent issuing MD's in the respected field of faith healing.
