Doug Winnail has another Friday posting up on how to be a peacemaker. Do you think Rod Meredith is listening?
CAD Comments - Friday, August 05, 2016Are You a Peacemaker?
When Jesus Christ returns, He will establish the government of God that will bring peace to the earth (Isaiah 9:6-7). This is why Jesus emphasized a fundamental teaching of Christianity, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9). This is also why the Apostle Paul advised Christians in Rome, “as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men” (Romans 12:17-21). Paul explained that we can promote peace by not seeking revenge, by not mistreating others, and by overcoming evil by doing good. Solomon wisely observed, “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1). Jesus warned that making angry or disparaging comments about a brother or sister is the same as murder because it breaks the spirit of the law (Matthew 5:21-26). David wrote, “Great peace have those who love Your law” (Psalm 119:165). One of the most important lessons we must learn if we want to reign with Christ in the Kingdom of God is that peace comes when we follow and learn to apply the laws of God.
Have a profitable Sabbath,
Douglas S. Winnail
Rod Meredith....did you read this? "...promote peace by not seeking revenge..." Just think how much better things would have been if you had promoted peace and apologized to the Scarborough's. Now you are dropping millions to defend yourself, McNair and others for smearing the Scarborough's reputation. A soft answer like, "I'm sorry." would have solved it all, but your disparaging remarks against your brothers and sisters was like sticking a knife in their backs.

Looks like Doug is trying to get people to be reasonable but I doubt he succeeds. Any news about the fast? Any message from heaven? Did anyone in the LCG repent? Can anyone give us an update on the trial/hearings/mediation?
No, no no, you don't understand. Rod Meredith is furious that the people around him are making so many disparaging comments about him. By writing that comment, Winnail is trying to win Meredith's favour.
FYI: The Scarborough trial is set for Tuesday, September 06, 2016, according to the online Mecklenburg County Superior Court Civil Calendar. There's a link posted in the "contact the author" area of this site...
There is the overt, and there is the subliminal. Unfortunately, in the wacky world of Armstrongism, "the twain shall never meet". Public display by one of the leaders who is attempting to put the correct face on the organization, as compared to the embarrassing real situation as it actually exists.
It appears that Winnail is acting presidential, attempting to rise above the general practices of the LCG, and to display some genuine leadership. The track record of such efforts throughout the past is unfortunately not very encouraging. The problem is, as a superior officer, you can't directly correct what is being said, because it is immediately recognizable as already being correct. Generally, "other" things happen to such a leader, as those higher on the food chain recognize the acclaim accorded by the masses, and become jealous. These missives can't survive for long in an ACOG environment. But, while they are permitted to last, hopefully they will elevate that culture.

This is the usual pacifistic clap trap that the churches, including the Protestants have been putting out for decades, if not hundreds of years. Being a doormat, not being assertive, is not the meaning of being a 'peacemaker.' Doug cherry picked scriptures, whilst ignoring many others. Making angry comments is not evil, Christ did that himself. Doug blended this with disparaging others, which is unjustly demeaning and belittling others, an obvious sin. Where is Dougs sanction of Christ like denunciation of Pharisee types? He left out that the desire for revenge is a involuntary reaction, a God created trait. It might not be wise to retaliate as a Christian, since this plays into the persecutors desire of escalating the conflict, but it is not immoral. In fact Dougs 'soft answer' to unprovoked attacks, only invites more aggression. Note he gave no context or clarification of this verse.
Again, this is the fox preaching to the chickens so that the fox-ministers can get away with appalling mistreatment if church members. I look forward to Christ whipping these ministers, and stringing them up on the nearest street lamp. Vengeance, sweet vengeance.
A scripture you ask, why certainly.
2Thess 1.6 seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you.
The August 1 date for the Scarborough case was a motion for dismissal only. (Not "the trial"). If Anon 5:40 is correct above, and the trial date is set for September 6, then the movement for dismissal was denied.
The problem is, if Doug promotes any Christian virtue it can be seen as an attack on Rod. Rod possesses none of the fruits of the spirit expected of Christians.
If Doug wants to avoid appearing to attack Rod, he needs to stick to tried-and-true topics like "obey your overlords", "give, give, give" and "prepare now for the best feast ever".
I don't know Winnail. Is he trying to look good personally or is this made-for-litigation damage control?
Doug Winnail wrote: "...One of the most important lessons we must learn if we want to reign with Christ in the Kingdom of God is that peace comes when we follow and learn to apply the laws of God..."
Isn't Doug Winnail talking "to the choir," or are his readers just ignorant, unaware, of how peace comes to an individual?
If all one needed to have peace come was to simply "follow and learn to apply" God's laws, then why must his followers be told that, and other such things regarding God's Spirit's fruits, so often with his memos?
Well, for one thing, it isn't all that simple. For another, peace isn't up to the individual. If I didn't know better, I'd think Doug was telling his followers that they needed to earn their salvation to qualify to reign with Jesus Christ who, incidentally, isn't coming to reign on earth until after Satan is loosed from that bottomless pit and then be taken and be destroyed. I mean; isn't Jesus Christ supposed to be at His Father's right hand until all His enemies are subdued...that last enemy being death?
Peace, Godly peace, is a fruit (Galatians 5:22) of God's Spirit, so how does following and obeying laws bring peace? If one has God's Spirit, then one should have that fruit of God's Spirit and will have peace which like faith, another fruit of God's Spirit, comes only by measure/proportion from God:
Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as GOD HATH DEALT TO EVERY MAN the MEASURE of faith.
:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that IS GIVEN TO us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the PROPORTION of faith;
God receives all the glory, honor and praise for giving out His own peace, His own faith, His own love...name another fruit of His Spirit.
When Doug expects human beings to do this all by themselves, to just simply "follow and learn to apply" God's laws, and magically peace (name a fruit of God's Spirit) exists, then the human beings could take all of the credit to self, and God gets no glory, praise, honor for His own fruit that He gives out.
It almost seems like Doug is asking his followers to simply "follow and learn," almost as a con job, to somehow impress God by that peace that magically appears. And then Doug thinks that the people will somehow have qualified to reign with Christ in the future Kingdom of God on earth.
Perhaps one of the most important lessons ought to be to recognize Who is the source of peace, and not focus so much on SELF, as if SELF could somehow get that peace.
In fact, if it really was as easy as Doug tells us, then the people ought to be doing it by now and Doug would not have to continue to encourage the people to do something that they cannot not do.
Time will tell...
John
Doug makes no mention of rights. Surely respecting borders and boundaries would bring peace. But since the ministers have all rights and members have non, everyone is expected to pretend that rights don't exist. Very self serving.
Doug Winnail is a puppet and this is a charade.
If they preach peacemaking, forgiveness and love loudly enough many of the stupid minions will be inclined to believe that that is what the leaders at LCG actually believe and do.
History and fact would prove quite the contrary.
