UCG watching the moon as they prepare for Feast and other shadowy incidentals

The Feast of Tabernacles is rapidly approaching as the Churches of God prepare for their annual "COG Christmas" of travel, gift giving, partying, and overindulgence in food and drink. As the members sit there for eight days listening to sermons about shadows that still need to be kept in this present age and in some kingdom to come, there will not be a lot of sermons focused totally upon Christ and anything that was accomplished. Shadow-keeping will reign supreme.

Rick Shabi again is looking at the moon as some sign that they are doing something right:

As we look ahead, for all of us there is a reminder in the sky that an important time of the year is quickly approaching.

For Christians, something is far more important than the moon upon which their faith rests upon. That person signaled at the resurrection the focus of their life. UCG though is placing their focus upon a shadow for eight days and scant mention of that name will be spoken. If it is, it is only as a by-product of some kingdom to come where the focus is upon how UCG and COG members will become gods and goddesses and will be ruling over people.

Last night, I woke and went outside for a while and noticed the bright, what seemed to be full moon shining down. Tonight (Thursday) is actually the full moon—God signaling to us that just two full moons from now we will be celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles. Physical preparations for the Feasts wherever you are going have been underway for a while, but Feast coordinators are in the final stretch of their plans making sure all is ready as the Church of God leaves their homes and journeys to the place where He has placed His name for the Feast.

Actually, the place where His name was placed was Jerusalem and not Branson, Missouri.

As physical preparations are underway, and all of the ministry and so many of our members have a vital and important role in the Feast, now is the time for all of us to be making spiritual preparations.

Take the time to think about what these upcoming Holy Days mean. The Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Feast of Tabernacles and Eighth (or Last Great) Day all have a specific meaning in God’s plan. He has given us the great blessing and privilege of understanding His plan for humanity, and what a great, loving plan it is—for all humanity! No other body except the true Body of Christ understands this great truth of God.

Isn't it fabulous to know you are part of an exclusive group that has the inside scoop on the plan of salvation and how everyone else who actually openly professes faith in Christ is too stupid to understand it?

Make sure your physical preparations for the Feast are complete, but do not neglect the spiritual preparation that is absolutely requisite if we are to derive the absolute joy, rejoicing, peace and assurance that comes from observing God’s holy, appointed times with our hearts, minds and souls.

Remember, too, that the weekly Sabbath is one of those holy convocations and appointed times God provides. “Don’t forsake the assembling of yourselves together.”

Have a wonderful and productive day of preparation and inspiring Sabbath day.

If you will be in Cincinnati for Sabbath services, in person or virtually, we look forward to being with you.

The "feast of trumpets" and "8th last great day" is a Herbie eisegesis regurgitated by Shabi.

With moeds (translated “feasts” in Lev 23:2) defined as fixed times which include both feasts and sabbaths, and with chags or chagags (translated “feasts” in Exodus 23:14-16 which lists only 3 feasts), defined as feasts, the “feast of trumpets” is not a feast but a sabbath.

The last great day of John 7:37 had to be Tishri 21 because the next day was a sabbath-John 8:1-9:14, but Tishri 23 is never a sabbath.

They are shadows of things to come.

Why would I go to a UCG feast site when they cancelled one in the middle of the feast last year?

Well, I hate to burst our bubble, Buttercup, but this is his August 11 message to members from the Home Office. Try harder the next time.

"...and how everyone else who actually openly professes faith in Christ is too stupid to understand it?"

I think I see your problem. I think I understand why you are so anti-COG. The Church will not allow your heresies so you go on the attack. You think that everyone that "openly professes faith in Christ" is part of The Church.

Mainstream christianity worships an entirely different christ, not the One who made all things under the direction of The Father. They are not "stupid", as you say, but simply haven't been given the understanding yet. Their day (and yours) will come.

"... as the Church of God leaves their homes and journeys to the place where He has placed His name for the Feast."

The placing of God's name here is treated as if it were an administrative detail. Its not like God places his name and then the denominational administration does the follow-on logistics. Instead the denominational administration finds a convenient spot and that is "where God places his name." It is ironic to find this view among people who claim to be hard-core about the Law of Moses. Of course, if they are going to wait for God to impart to them the knowledge directly of where around the globe he placed his name, they would be waiting a long time. Because he already revealed where he placed his name - the Temple in Jerusalem.

In 1 Kings 9:3 God transfers his dwelling place from the tabernacle in the wilderness to the Temple:

"And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually."

Then in modern times some apocalyptic Millerites come along and decide to abrogate what God stated clearly above and to do their own name placement - because the Hammer Family donated some land - obviously where God "placed his name." The FoT cannot be validly kept in some resort town in the USA, if you believe that the Law of Moses is still in force. You must appear before God where he places his name. (This of course is impossible because the Second Temple was destroyed in 70 AD. This just might be a clue about the continuing validity of the Law of Moses.) If you believe the Law of Moses is no longer in force, then have at it. But you can't have it both ways.

Anon @4:52. You are an idiot. I will not bother to dignify your ignorant deception with any response beyond this..The Lord and Savior we Christians worship has obviously never met you. God help you see the light before it's too late.

Nope, missed the motive entirely. Try again.

Well I hope Cincy is a better FOT site location for the UCG folks , than FRESNO WCG 1978!

Ha! 'Burst our bubble'. Glad you've put it in writing.
President Rick's sermon was preached 13th August ....

Hjk...I would stop while you are ahead. You made a fool of yourself to all of us. Who wants to listen to a sermon by a UCG minister who has no real theological training other than reading Herbert Armstrong's booklets and articles? I spent too many years parked in UCG doing that. Now that I am free from that nonsense it would be a total waste of time to listen to one of them again, especially Shabi.

Is information less than a week old,
"Old" in UCG? Does Rick contradict himself every two days?

Arrogance. It's all about the arrogance. They decide who is stupid through being dreadfully arrogant and vain.

Hjk??? Is nck's wife posting now?

I think the ACOG's believe that "in the place which the LORD chooses" is an administrative item, like they do with other topics. I also think they understand that in the NT we not only see believers celebrating the Feasts outside of Jerusalem, but also Jesus himself says in John 4:21-23 that Jerusalem would no longer be the specific place.

What I would take issue with is that they say they administer this and other things with New Covenant understanding, but they use the verbiage and requirements of the Mosaic Covenant in actual practice.

Totally on point.

I'm not 4:52 but anyone who calls another an idiot and decrees in writing that another human doesn't know Jesus Christ is no christian at all. When did Jesus let you decide who belongs. Think on it.

Why are soooo many of the comments on here from the angle of the ministry??? From the angle of what the ministry assume members agree with.
A ministers angle of assumption usually quite different from the members.

Do you rebels from the ministry and wannabes really believe the members think God has placed his name in numerous resorts around the world? Multiple places along florida's coast ?

The ministry of LCG, UCG, COGWA have always been posting here. How do you think so much information shows up here?

Wholeheartedly agree Anon 1:20.
