Gerald Flurry: Get Ready For The Famine Of The Word!!!!!

Have you ever noticed when fledgling Church of God ministries start suffering financially because of abusive policies and teachings and  as members stop giving and leave their little fiefdoms, that they start screaming that the end is nigh and the famine of the word is imminent?

These blustering buffoons think that their words are so significant that humanity can not gain salvation without their utterances. The deep state and corrupt churches are out to destroy them because they "dare" to speak boldly about perceived/imagined problems in the country and the world.

It doesn't matter if it is Bob Thiel, Dave Pack, or Gerald Flurry, they all vomit out this nonsensical diarrhea.

Flurry has the following up on his Trumpet site:

If you knew a famine was coming, wouldn’t you prepare for it? You would feverishly take action to provide your family with enough food to survive. You would fear the consequences of not taking action quite soon enough or strong enough. The consequences are devastating sickness, starvation and a terrible death.

But did you know the Bible prophesies that a spiritual famine is coming?

“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord” (Amos 8:11).

There is only one way to prepare, and you must take drastic action!

How many guesses as to where this is going to lead...Flurry spews out the same silliness that Bob Thiel, Dave Pack, Gerald Weston, Ron Weinland, and most of the COG crew love to say:

Right now, God’s word is readily available. You are holding it in your hands: a message in plain language unlike any other that shows you how to understand the teachings of the Bible based on revealed and provable truth, and that shows you how to apply the Bible to understand and even thrive in this insane world. It makes life understandable, workable, hopeful.

God’s work is diligently broadcasting and streaming the message of God and the truths of the Bible through the Internet, over cable tv and television and radio airwaves. It is publishing regular magazines, books and booklets. It is sending out all kinds of literature, including a Bible correspondence course. It is operating at full capacity, virtually unrestricted and unhindered. And people the world over can easily access this truth and receive it freely, at no cost.

Never have we had so many DIFFERENT groups all proclaiming that they and they alone are the one true faith with the one true Word, that was hand delivered by God's one true apostle, Herbert Armstrong.

Though the problem with all of that silliness is that each and every one of these men has ADDED to the stuff Herbert wrote, so much so that he would not recognize them as legitimate followers of God. He would find each of them so offensive he would disfellowship and mark each of them as the deceivers they are.

Flurry sets up a great horror story as to what he sees happening to his cult:

Yet the time will come when Philadelphia Church of God headquarters in Edmond, Oklahoma, and its regional offices in other countries will close, permanently. The broadcast, the websites, the e-mails, the magazines, the books will cease.

The people who have watched the programs and read the literature will find themselves suddenly cut off.

God says His word will become scarce. The life-giving truth will be as hard to find as a morsel of meat in a wasteland.

People will panic. “And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it” (verse 12). This message, so freely available, so abundant, so nourishing today will be gone in just a few more tomorrows.

Who in the hell will panic when Flurry, Pack, or Thiel are silenced?

Will it really be a satanic attack against them or the fact that they said and did something so incredibly stupid that people had to step in and shut them down? It is no grand conspiracy of censorship, either.

Here is Flurry's hilarious scenario of the start of the famine of the word:

It’s 7 a.m., Sunday morning, and you turn on the television. But instead of that familiar introduction, a different program is on. You pick up your Trumpet from a side table and find a phone number on the back cover to call and find out what channel and time The Key of David moved to. But instead of a friendly voice, you hear a busy signal.

Now this issue has your attention. You open up your laptop and type in theTrumpet.com. 404 error. You type in pcg.church. 404 error. You check your inbox. It loads, but you have to scroll down a bit to get to the last Trumpet Brief or Signposts e-mails.

A sinking feeling takes hold. No. There’s got to be a way! It has to be somewhere. It has to be—doesn’t it? It was right there the whole time. There’s got to be a way.

This is the famine of the word.

NAH...just means "Elvis has left the building" along with the rest of the members who have jumped ship. The church has been cancelled due to lack of interest.

Oh please Mr Flurry don't take away the Trumpet magazine; where else can we get stale rehashed news stories for free? Oh wait, the same place you get them, the internet!

I don't have to type in anything about PCG and Gerald Flurry to get an "error" message. That kinda flashes all by itself in my mind when I hear his name. And I don't get worried. I am relieved. A Famine of the Worm, Gerald, is not a bad thing.

“Though the problem with all of that silliness is that each and every one of these men has ADDED to the stuff Herbert wrote, so much so that he would not recognize them as legitimate followers of God. He would find each of them so offensive he would disfellowship and mark each of them as the deceivers they are.”

“That (False) Prophet” Gerald Flurry ADDED all sorts of NONSENSE to what Herbert W. Armstrong had taught and called it “much new revelation” that his PCG had been “flooded with.” Gerald Flurry falsely claimed that all his “new revelation” that he had made up just built upon what HWA had taught and did not contradict it, but, in fact, Gerald Flurry had to edit and change HWA's old writings, including HWA's last book called Mystery of the Ages, so that they would not expose the doctrinal changes that Gerald Flurry had made.

“That (False) Prophet” Gerald Flurry also DELETED some of Herbert W. Armstrong's MAJOR teachings while deceitfully claiming to be holding on faithfully to everything that HWA had taught.

Gospel Deleted

Herbert W. Armstrong had gone on and on about the “great commission” of the church to preach the gospel (meaning “good news”) of the coming kingdom of God, which was the only hope for mankind.

One of the first things that Gerald Flurry did was to say that preaching the gospel ended with the death of HWA in 1986. Gerald Flurry said that HWA had preached the gospel, as if it were now over and done with. Gerald Flurry said that his PCG had been given a “new commission” for a new church era. According to Gerald Flurry, the PCG's new commission was to “warn the Laodiceans.” In actual practice, this meant ignorantly raging away like demoniacs against Worldwide Church of God people and refusing to have anything to do with them unless they went along with “That (False) Prophet” Gerald Flurry and helped him to suppress the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom of God. Strange twist, indeed.

Families Deleted

Herbert W. Armstrong also talked a lot in his later years about turning the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.

So, of course, Gerald Flurry just had to come up with a “No Contact Policy” to prevent PCG members from have anything to do with anyone, including close family members and relatives, who had a Worldwide Church of God background but did not go along with “That (False) Prophet” Gerald Flurry. God's commandment to honor one's own parents got done away with by Gerald Flurry saying that God commands us to avoid certain ones. The ones to be avoided, according to Gerald Flurry, were one's own close family members who had a WCG background but did not follow “That (False) Prophet” Gerald Flurry. At the same time, people could get kicked out of the PCG for not going along with the selfish and immoral agendas of all the bad strangers -- the old sex maniacs, sex perverts, and predators -- that had somehow been called into the PCG. Exactly backwards.

So Flurry is dying and preparing the Church for the heirs.......?

I would absolutely love to hear what Herbert W. Armstrong would have to say about the likes of Flurry, Pack, Weinland, and Thiel.

It would also be very interesting to see how many of the current followers of Flurry, Pack, Weinland, and Thiel would still stay with these false prophets and reject what Herbert W. Armstrong would say.

I have thought for a while now, that I am somewhat supportive of taking away 501.C status for churches. For starters, God doesn't need our money to fulfill his objectives, and on top of that it would certainly shutter a lot of the more blatant money and power-based hierarchies. I have a strong suspicion that most ACOGs would full apart pretty quickly. With so many of them hovering around the 3k and under membership range, corporate taxes would instantly wipe away their 'not for profit' profit margins. Once the financial incentives were gone, fear doctrines like these wouldn't serve much purpose.

A famine of the word implies that people were fed spiritual meat. But what the WWCOG and it's splinters have always done is feed their members spiritual milk.
It seems that they failed to obey Christ's instruction to "feed My sheep."

This already has happened for James Malm supporters. His sites went away earlier this year.

God only knows where they are now. :-(

Some time ago, Dennis attempted to explain to Bob Thiel how the COG interpretation of the famine of the word as mentioned in Amos 8 was incorrect. And, as expected, Bob was not convinced...

What is Gerald going to do? Get in his jet and fly to Guyana? Pack & Flurry need to have an EGO contest to see who is the most narcissistic and who can win the FALSE PROPHECY contest. Speaking of HWA, if you go and research his old Plain Truth magazines & co worker letters, his recurrent theme was that things were about to conclude in the next 5-7 years and that the brethren needed to give EXTRA tithes, offerings and donations for ONE GREAT LAST PUSH of the work. He repeated this method dating back to the 1930's. Seems as if he did not practice this himself, wasting tithes on precious metal candlelabras of naked women or buying himself a Rolls Royce.

I would love to see a famine of the word..........of Flurry, Thiel, Weinland, Pack and all of the other self apostles and prophets out there.

You guys are giving them too much credit in regards to their delusions about themselves. Short of actually committing a serious crime (and no, saying something is not one, Bob), nobodys going to just ahut them down.

Go out and ask 100 random people if they've heard of Herbert Armstrong, Gerald Flurry or Rod Meredith. You miiiiiiiight find one, but its unlikely.

Wow-- somehow, the Gospel went to the entire Roman Empire, without the use of phones, electricity, jets, printing, internet, radio, TV shows, Headquarters auditoriums, horses, dichondra, etc, ad nauseam.

Yet Christianity changed the world, and outlasted the Roman Empire!

Maybe its time for the COGs to use the same techniques that worked then, and stop relying on money from their "human fuel" to fund their "marketing", and instead focus on having CHANGED LIVES which witness the power of Jesus Christ and his Holy Spirit, to testify to the world in personal witness , through deeds and words by individuals.

The ACOGs could be right on this one. Society is becoming more and more intolerant. Even Yahoo finance among others, has removed its comments section. This could extend to this blog as well. The days of freedom of expression are numbered.

People distort the arguments these days bigtime, 8:40. Right after President Trump was elected, I was listening to talk radio, and a young guy who had called in mentioned that he felt empowered because while he, his group, and their opinions had been marginalized in the past by political correctness, now President Trump had uncancelled them and brought them into the mainstream. He was glad that his freedom of speech had been restored. When questioned further on this, he cited the example of now being able to freely use the "N" word once again. I thought that he had overestimated the impact of President Trump's election on our American culture, but then Charlottesville happened, pretty much verifying what the young man believed.

Tonto, Tonto, Tonto,

You know the COGs won’t follow a “failed plan”. All this talk of Christianity having changed the world is drivel in the eyes of the COGs. The COGs teach Christianity was corrupted by the end of the first century, so whatever changed the world was obviously a false Christianity. Even the COGs don’t claim their “little flock” had any substantial effect on the world, but simply continued a never broken thread of true Christianity as scripture says the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.
Wow, four easily debunkable doctrines in one long sentence!
1) Little flock was not a descriptor of the entire church, just those present with Jesus at the time.
2) Gates of Hell are defensive and aren’t used to attack the church; instead the church should be taking the offensive and busting through strongholds.
3) The church didn’t get off track after the first century.
4) the thread of groups through the centuries that they claim maintained the truth as taught in the 1st century would not be allowed to continue to attend the Cogs of today. Many didn’t even keep the sabbath (waldensians, Zwingliites, Millerites) or holy days (steven Mumford who may not have kept sabbath for long and like the others accepted the trinity).

I know, broken record, but the tenacity of such illogical false beliefs is dumbfounding.

Funny, 8:00, I read all the news I can get my hands on from left, right, and middle of the road resources, and never heard anything of those dems. I do know that the people who won the Republican primaries in my state are endorsing a rabid antisemite in Oklahoma, and they attend white nationalist rallies. The governor said he'd vote for a white nationalist militia candidate before he'd vote for a democrat. The country's in big trouble. Better get ready! Cover up your butthole!

Can’t wait for the famine of flurry’s word. No one’s going to miss it, and certainly no one’s going to panic!

So, are we assuming that the ACOGs are actually speaking the word of God? If that were true, the famine began when the whole scam splintered and became impotent back in the '90s. These little guys with their splinters seem to want to apply this famine to their own invisible little vanity projects which somehow never really took off. Apparently, they are the types who get their news late.
