Dave Pack and the Flat Earth Believers

Armstrongism has always had a fringe element in its midst.  From conspiracy theorists consumed by the Illuminati, Jesusit conspiracies, Protocols of Zion promoters, people fascinated by money guru Gary North, Reconstructionism, to the flat earth believers.  

The Pasadena church HQ, the site of the "pure truth" and home of "original Christianity," was rife with these beliefs.  Top level employees quietly promoted these theories to other church members.  Being that Pasadena was the church HQ, it automatically attracted thousands of raving lunatics who thought they had a direct pipeline to God.  Prophets, sages, apostles, end time witnesses, visionaries, picketers, and others regularly descended upon the campus with their pet theories and "truths."  That lunatic fringe is equally matched in this day by lunatics like James Malm, Bob Thiel, Dave Pack and Gerald Flurry.

One of the more fringe elements in Pasadena were the Flat Earth believers.  That belief still is alive in the Church of God movement.  Of course it has found its base in the more radical groups like the Philadelphia Church of God and the Restored Church of God.

It has gotten so bad that even Dave Pack has had to deal with it.

Unless you make a decision to move to the wrong side of the fire, you don’t ever need to worry about safety or health. If you leave God’s Church, you probably shouldn’t worry about much else. If you don’t want to be part of this, you really should leave. I’m not suggesting anybody doesn’t, but we had people leave this week.

Just to show you how crazy the age is…We have people who left this week, because they’re convinced the Earth is flat! They’ve joined the Flat Earth Society. Do you know how we caught them? They were overheard—overheard. Angry that we have a spinning globe on the World to Come…We were telling a lie to the world that the earth is round. Man…when you call the weak and foolish of the world, that’s what you did! And that’s what God did! I didn’t think anybody could believe that. There is a Flat Earth Society. They’re convinced the moon landing…You ought to hear these people that left…They’re convinced the moon landing is a lie. It’s a hoax. There is no round Moon. The Earth is flat! When it says God sits on the circle of the earth in the Bible…I don’t know what they do with that verse.

Ian Boyne's article is certainly a different view than how most of the Churches of God groups are reacting to the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States.  Almost all COG splinter leaders are reacting to his election as a good thing to bring back credibility that they think was lost under the rule of a gentile President.  That view is deeply entrenched in the British Israelite thought processes and white superiority that is still pervasive in the church in 2016.

The world is a different place than when the church was evolving during the 1940's - 1980's.  Globalization, the internet and world populations immigrating to most Western Nations has led many Church of God groups to proclaim propehtic melt down of civilization and the dilution of the white race.

Ian takes a different approach to this belief, particularly with observations and a perspective that is outside the United States and as a person of color, two things that do not sit well with so many in the church.

It is not enough to say that Donald Trump's victory is a 'whitelash' against eight years of a black man's being in the White House. It is, indeed, true that Trump's ascendancy as American president-elect is the culmination of the Tea Party insurgency started just one year after Obama's first victory in 2008. White people, particularly marginalised white males, swept away by the tide of globalisation, have risen up to take back their country and to put America first.

No election in American history has left in its wake so much resentment, bitterness, anger, disappointment and fear - not just in America but around the world. Jamaicans at home and in the US are terrified of the consequences of this Trump victory which, they catastrophise, is likely to torpedo their dreams of a better life. Jamaicans, various minorities, and progressive, forward-thinking people are being counselled that "it's not the end of the world," but for many, Trump's victory certainly seems like that.

'Stunning', 'shocking', 'astonishing' are just a few of the adjectives being used to describe the victory that was not seen by pollsters and pundits. Almost everyone had written off Trump. Except the Silent Majority. Yet, hidden in academia were some books that speak plainly about the phenomenon that the media are now widely reporting on after the fact. One book that narrates the crisis of the white working class and its alienation from the elites is Nancy Isenberg's White Trash: The 400-year Untold History of Class in America (2016). Before that, in 2012, the well-known social scientist Charles Murray had published his Coming Apart: The State of White America, 1960-2010.

In September, the respected Atlantic magazine did a long piece titled 'The Original Underclass: Poor, White Americans' Current Crisis Shouldn't Have Caught the Rest of the Country as Off Guard as it Has'.

Then there is also Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis (2016) by J.D. Vance, whose views are now being sought belatedly by American journalists to understand what escaped them. But if you want one book that grippingly and comprehensively explains the Trump Phenomenon, you have to get The Populist Explosion: How the Great Recession Transformed American and European Politics. I notice it is now being featured as 'One of the Six Books to Help Understand Trump's Win' and it has been given the thumbs up by the most intellectually astute media host in America, GPS's Fareed Zakaria.

There is a lot of hasty, half-baked commentary being dished out, but this Trumpism deserves a serious and surgical analysis. Yes, white power has been asserted in a most ferocious and aggressive way, and Trump, like all neo-fascists, was able to exploit the fears and anxieties of the majority against "the deplorables". But remember, that's the same country that voted for a black man as president not once, but twice. Barack Obama did better than Trump's opponent among white voters. Did those white people temporarily lose their ingrained racism when they voted Obama? What happened between 2008 and 2016?

In a review essay titled 'The Great White Nope: Poor, Working Class and Left Behind in America', in the November-December issue of Foreign Affairs, which features "The Power of Populism", History Professor Jefferson Cowie says: "Most Americans are optimistic about their futures but poor and working-class whites are not. ... Poor African-Americans who face higher rates of incarceration and unemployment - are nearly three times as optimistic as poor whites". He quotes one economist as saying poor whites suffer from "unhappiness, stress, and a lack of hope" . Says he: "That might explain why the slogan of the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump Make America Great Again! - sounds so good to so many of them".

Dave Pack: I Am God's Mailman

Good old superfantabulous Dave, God's mailman.  As an apostle and prophet to the Church of God, Dave is The Man!

So God has chosen a system where, when He wants to send a warning—good news or bad…generally, bad news, but sometimes good…(Zechariah…there was a lot of good in there)—He needs a postman, and that is what He gets—called a prophet. Now the only difference between a prophet and the guys in the white trucks who come here every day and go to your house…they go like this [knocking sound]…they knock on your door, and he reads the letter to you, in effect, closes it up and walks away. Now most people, of course, don’t come to the door with a note pad and write the letter down. They just go to the box later, after the truck is gone, and they read whatever was sent to them.

A prophet is different. He knows the contents of the letter, and that is the difference. It is the words of God…else how would we read the Bible and know that they are the words of God? Now that is an important thing to understand. Elijah’s role will be to do what God tells him to do. It is a lesser office than apostle……

When it comes to specific messages that you have to get to Garcia…you have to “get a message to Garcia”…you all know the story…you use a prophet. That’s why the last servant is a prophet.

……If he is an apostle to the Church—and it will be a growing church of many tens of thousands all over the world—and you are going to understand things you never have before…Well, then he is an apostle. But, when he acts on God’s behalf, he is, in fact, a prophet, who says exactly what he is supposed to say, not some facsimile of it.

Dave Pack Claims He Has A Famous Jewish Actor Interested in the RCG

We had a very famous Jewish actor…If I said his name or showed you his picture, you would know immediately who he was. You would all say, “Wow!” He wrote us and wanted to visit. He was thinking, reading; he realized he had been lied to by religion in so many ways. He was serious. He wanted to know where the Church was and…World famous…Believe me, you would all know him, if I showed his picture right up here on the screen…and at the last minute he backed out, because it was too big a step down to come with us. I hope he comes later. God knows how to work with Jews. He will come to them as they are.

Every actor's representative should be contacted as soon as possible to tell them what a dangerous cult Dave Pack and the Restored Church of God are to peoples lives.

Dave is most assuredly waiting to start sucking all the money he can out of this individual.  Nothing like getting a financier to built his mini-me auditorium!

Dave Pack: If You Are Part of RCG and Faithful, You WILL Be Saved

It is comforting to know that salvation only exists in the most superfantabulous Church of God splinter group to ever have been formed.  Only its most superfantabulous leader can make this claim. No other Church of God group is able or bold enough to make the the claim that...

For the moment, I want all of God’s people around the world to understand something. It is fundamental, and it speaks directly to why not a hair of a faithful member’s head can be lost in the years ahead…how will God protect His people?

Lets all pack our bags and move to Wadsworth!  Who needs Pella and Petra which are over-rated by the lunatic fringe of the Church of God, Wadsworth is where the action is at!  Besides, there is a great big lots store across the street we can shop at as the invading armies traverse the freeway on the other side of the holy compound!

Because tens of thousands of COG  members will have flocked to Wadsworth to sit at the feet of the holy one to be reeducated, they will be so special that people will literally flock to be at their side, because they have God's protection written all over them.

“And I will encamp about My house…” (Zech. 9:8) and He gives several reasons in the rest of the verse…but just stop for a moment. God says He will camp around His house… The one being referred to there, directly, is the coming temple, the House of God. But, we are the Temple of God now—we are the House of God now, as well as Jerusalem above. Try to imagine that God says a building—or a small mountain—is more important than a building of living stones.

Brethren, when you understand this whole prophecy…and it will take me a long time to…it doesn’t mean there won’t be persecution. There will be some persecution. But you will be amazed at how many people will want to be associated with you…when I show you from the Scriptures…because you are part of this. There is no way God would not “camp round about.” I can show you in the psalms that He does that. He camps round about the camp of the saints.

There is no way in the world God is going to add spiritual Jews—converting the house of Judah and bring it to a fractured spiritual house, bring it to a fractured spiritual Judah, where spiritual Jews are, whose hearts are circumcised. He has to…and this is one of the connections, again, between Bands and Grace…He has to unify His spiritual house. Meaning, many more thousands will immediately come into a situation where they won’t even know all these verses. They will have to learn them, and God is going to have to put a wall of fire and camp around about them, as well.

So I wanted us to all be absolutely clear. This prophecy—stunning as it is—has wonderful news inside it in that regard. Though it doesn’t mean that we are going to hop on a carpet and take a magic carpet ride. It is always difficult.  

I don't think there is a need to worry about "magic carpets."  With Dave I think it revolves around those "magic mushrooms" he has been smoking.  No rational mind could come up with all of this unintelligible nonsense!

Dave then moves on to why he was sent to New York City to serve as a WCG pastor many years ago. Again, Dave has to make this all about himself.  He was sent there so he could be around Jewish people so that the can better learn how to reeducated them,  when he is appointed by his creature he calls "jesus," who will be completing his ministry for 3 1/2 years, in the most superfantabulous temple to ever be constructed!

I will just say, I understand why I served in New York City. There are many reasons…and did so twice. I have worked with and have known a great many Jews. But I have gone to college without  many of them, and I have seen them in the Work of God…not very many, because primarily, God was not calling Jews, until He does it all at once. I don’t know if we have any physical Jews in the Church. I am descended from David, so how that’s counted is kind of interesting…Paul was a Benjamite, but reared as a Jew, and so forth.

Of course Dave has to bring in the British Israel mythology and designate just who the Jews are that he is talking about.

God works with the House of Judah, by the way, not the land of Judea. God is going to save Judah. Most Jews don’t live in Judea. So you think of the terms, you have Judea where the Jews lived, you have Judah, either the original man named ‘Judah’ or all those called the “house of Judah” who came from him who are individually called “Jews,” who today practice a religion called “Judaism.” So you have to sort out those things out and that will help you. When God works with the house of Judah, meaning Jews, not the Jews that live in Judea, the implications are awesome when you consider most Jews don’t live in Israel. What does that mean? I am planting a seed… but you will find that it has awesome implications. So of course, God could not ever bring many from physical Judah into a fractured spiritual Judah… a reason that both occur together……

Next, SuperDave tells his members just how SPECIAL he is.  He is at a level that other COG ministers have never attained.  No minister in the Church of God is as knowledgeable or set apart as as he is.

Because once the code’s broken, brethren…this man who’s been studying prophecy for 50 years up here…Next June, it will be 50 years I’ve studied it, and learned it, and buried myself in it more than any man who has ever lived. I know that, and I’ve said it. I happen to know that whoever is in this position would have to be that way, and there are various reasons. I’ve explained it. Until God breaks certain codes, vast areas are locked out of understanding that in these weeks we’re going to see. For instance, nobody could see verses that were screaming obvious about the House of God being built in Jerusalem this side of the Tribulation. Nobody could see... I couldn’t…that God saves Judah first and that doesn’t just mean deliver them—it includes salvation. 

Then Dave sets about PROVING that he is Zerrubbabel:

The message suggests that this man should trust God, not human forces or armies, power or might, but His Spirit…It’s interesting. The greatest mountain on earth at that time, back when the second temple was being built, was on their side. He wasn’t resisting Zerubbabel. This is a Zerubbabel that is resisted by a great mountain, not assisted by one, as Cyrus and Darius did. See the difference?

One of the problems, Mr. Armstrong never, a single time, ever attempted to explain…who the great mountain was, I never heard him do it, that resisted him. He never did. He just left it alone. He never tried to explain the headstone/grace-grace thing. And remember “finish” can mean “break off,” so, it could have an application to Mr. Armstrong. With the spiritual house, Mr. Armstrong’s hands didbreak off 30 years ago. But God, in His infinite wisdom, picked a word that can mean “finish,” or “break off” because you’re finished. Mr. Armstrong broke off—but also, this Zerubbabel will finish the house, because it has to get done, and that’s the amazing thing. Go back, and review the word “finish.”

Super Dave then needs to reinforce his ties to Herbert Armstrong.  No legitimate COG leader can exist without training at Herbert's feet:

…If you think I’m ascribing too much to Mr. Armstrong, well then, that’s what I’m doing. I worked with him. I knew him. He was unique of all human beings I ever knew by far. He just was. People are going to have to learn he was Moses. Moses towers out of Scripture like Everest. He was a type of this Zerubbabel, a governor of spiritual Judah. I don’t doubt that, but he also led a royal priesthood. His signature is on both of my ordinations. Now, we weren’t priests; but yet, brethren, all of you are part of a royal priesthood. All of you are in training to be kings and priests. Is it a stretch to believe?..... 

Dave then goes into great detail on how his god will gather in all the Jews from around the world so that they will be protected and reeducated at the new temple where his creature he calls "jesus" will be ruling.  It is a long convoluted mess of facts and fantasy.
