Sabbath Tidbit: David C Pack Blows Smoke and Delivers Sheer Nonsense #303 to a Brain Dead Church

 

Dave opens Sermon 303 with a funny. 

"Should there be more time, new people would start with 301 to 303 and disregard 1 to 300"  (All laugh)

So far the rest of the sermon is a rambling, disjointed and "what the hell are you talking about" experience. I truly wish it was public. All 212 minutes of it.  

 I couldn't take notes on this sermon if my life depended on it. I can't imagine  one minister or member being capable of explaining anything Dave comes up in this absolutely horrid, rambling and meaningless sermon. If he did any real preparation, there is little evidence for having done so. 

I have made visits to mental hospitals where I sat listening to much of this same kind of Biblical diarrhea  and reasoning until I simply had to wrap it up and leave.   No gyrating in any seats I could detect though it was promised Dave would amaze them. 

Personally, his tone of voice sounds more desperate to convince, ass covering, glib, cutesy and tale weaving which has no basis in scriptural reality or any other reality I can think of. I don't think I have quite heard so many scriptures cobbled together into one incoherent mess in my life. I think he beat Bob Thiel this once is numbers of diversions and topics covered quickly and badly.  RCG

Dave fancies himself the master of doctrinal "Precision" and taught all the rules of logic and reasoning by his parents from his youth. This is delusional and personal self deception on Dave's part.

Letter to Bill Watson: "Can’t Say He Didn’t Try!"

That being said, what you will read below in the comments by Bill Watson is the most appalling mess of lofty elitist points of view which are filled with a condescending demeanor that drips with self-righteousness. This is exactly why so many church members refuse to counsel with ministers in the church. Never once does Watson exemplify a Christlike attitude or even mention the guy. It's all about himself and his lofty words. No COG minister is preaching with as much gusto and truth than Watson is doing. CGI wonders why they loose members, this is why! The Jamaica CGI should count their blessings they are so far away from Watson! Ian Boyne would be appalled at what is happening!

Can’t Say He Didn’t Try!

As an outgrowth of the recent skirmish in CGI over what constitutes an appropriate Christian response to Covid-19, I decided to reach out to Bill Watson in an attempt to reach some kind of understanding or accommodation regarding some of his more extreme messaging of the last few years. And, while that effort was sincere and intended to be private, the response which I received has prompted me to share part of that correspondence with a wider audience. I do so to graphically demonstrate what appears to be a common reaction of Armstrong Church of God leaders to anyone who disagrees with them or has the audacity to challenge them on some point. In the interest of full disclosure, the quotations which follow are accurate and complete representations of everything in that correspondence; but I have reserved the right to keep private anything which specifically referenced or involved my own family.

My letter to Pastor Watson opened with this paragraph:

“For several years now, I have chosen to confront your messaging from a distance. Recent events, however, have compelled me to reach out to you personally. I have a number of fond memories of my acquaintance with you and <wife> from thirty-five years ago, but I have watched with some dismay now for a number of years as you have drifted into what I consider to be some very extreme views. In particular, I'm referring to your very vocal stances on political and cultural issues. I remember a time when you preached the gospel and liked to discuss spiritual topics, but it seems that for these past ten years or so you have become increasingly focused on political and cultural themes.”

Likewise, the final paragraph from my letter to him reads as follows:

“In short, I'm asking you directly to be more cognizant of the fact that not everyone will agree with you. Moreover, that disagreement does not automatically make them bad or evil. My support for masks and vaccines does not make me a socialist … I am hoping that we will be able to reach some kind of understanding and equilibrium going forward. Contrary to what you may think, I derive no joy from publicly opposing you ... I'm not suggesting that you change your opinions or beliefs - I'm wondering, however, if you would be willing to acknowledge that the pulpit may not be the best forum for all of them? If so, you would never have to worry about another public challenge from me.”

What follows are some excerpts from Pastor Watson’s reply to my outreach to him:

“I too, have some "fond" memories of you out at Gargus Hall with Greg Sargent and Robly Evans and so many others. You were quite the ‘ideal teen example’ back then––a lot of people had high hopes for you. But, to my dismay as well, over the years the ‘unfortunate truth’ of your dysfunction, struggles, and confusion caused you to drift into some dysphoria that sadly, messed with your sexual orientation. The disappointment of those that mentored you when you were young––would today, be devastating to them if they only knew how far you have drifted and abandoned the God you once knew so well.

I'm not sure as to just what recent events compelled you to reach out to me as you claim, but I'm stunned as to how ‘myopic’ you perceive my subject material to be. I'm…probably one of the more prolific topical presenters, comparably speaking within the C. of G. culture…and if you can lay your bias down about things you're at odds with me, you will see the variety of subject materials I cover are just exactly what you said I use to preach on, which you said was about the gospel and spiritual subjects––and I submit to you, I haven't Changed a bit on the varieties of topics I address! This is why it is hard to reason with you because you are in such a ‘closed minded, mind set’––a very stubborn man––and you're not honest with me, yourself, or your family…

Lonnie you speak from a lofty elitist point of view with a condescending demeanor that drips with self-righteousness. I am stunned that regardless of whether you accept the God of the Bible anymore or not…”

In most of the next two paragraphs, Pastor Watson tells me that I should be “happy” that my family members are still involved in Armstrongism,

Continuing with Mr. Watson’s reply:

“But sadly, those that don't see the hand of God in the lives of their loved ones are still entangled in the aberrant dysfunction of the generational curses of the family they're in––and Lonnie that is clearly and sadly pointing right at you!” 

More of the same

“So, getting back to your ‘conversation’ about your apprehensions and concerns––and the bias described in your second-last paragraph and the appeal outlined in your last paragraph–– all I can say Lonnie is shame on you for using me to deflect from your own ‘personal intimacy issues and ‘emotional dysfunctions’ in your own life. My positions on the ‘policies’ of the day within the geopolitical realm we operate in means nothing in this grand scheme of the Hendrix family curse. And Lonnie, it's up to you––that's right––you are accountable to determine what your going to do about your family issues…not to mention your own family challenges that continue, due to patterns that repeat so cycles ‘stay in play.’

Lonnie, stop the foolishness. Chasing me and attempting to undermine my ministry will only serve to embarrass and insult yourself and reveal who you really are. You have no moral ground to stand on predicated on the Bible (Rom. 1:24-25 & 26-32). My positions within the political arena, though they deal with ‘policy,’ not party politics––never-the-less, remains only a distraction between us. It helps you to cope with the Hendrix family curses by obfuscation. The real issues you need to face are the confused and aberrant intimacy dysfunctions within your own tabernacle Lonnie––that is where the demons lie––deep in those insecurities. The question is do you have the courage to face them in all their rotten, smelly, and perverted forms, taking them on to break the family curses these demons have plague your families for centuries––do you have the courage to change the patterns and break into new cycles?” 

 

After some more familial advice, he concluded his letter by telling me to

“get on with your life and do some good, as opposed to being an accuser of the brethren and your family, which you are doing every time you make an effort to spin me in some Satanic way that makes you feel good. Lonnie, you'll only continue to play into the hands of the devil and that is a dangerous game to play! I pray for you Lonnie. But, you really need to stop deflecting and grow up and face the dysfunction, anger, and disappointment in your life; only then will you be set free from the bonds you refuse to let go of.”

Other than affirming my continued belief in the God of the Bible and my undiminished love for my family, I will not offer any assessments of my own with respect to the relative merits of my original outreach or Mr. Watson’s reply. I am content to let our readers evaluate our messages and reach their own conclusions about them. However, whatever conclusions you reach about this correspondence, I think that this is a classic example of how Armstrongites have responded to their critics for the last eighty years. Church of God International Medina: Why Will It Not Admit To Its Brethren COVID Is STILL An Issue In The Church?

Hello Brethren, 

 

I wanted to provide an update for those of us that may be intending to attended this Weeks services. 

 

As has been mentioned for some weeks now and as of the 5-26-21 posting, we have alerted you of a variety of different sickness that have emerged among us. Unfortunately, a few have been hospitalized, while others are in varying degrees of recovery at home with their families. As with any group situation, be it at church, work, school, or just out and about, it becomes important we remember to maintain precautions we originally have been adhering to for the last 18 to 20 months. 

 

So, I’d like to remind us to keep in mind the " House Rules" we have been following: 

 

1) If you (or your children) have the slightest sign of any symptom of sickness––please stay home. (We are webcasting) 

 

2) Masks remain optional 

 

3) Social Distancing is recommended. 

 

4) Wash your hands regularly 

 

5) Hand disinfectant is available throughout the building––feel free to use it. 

 

6) Please cover you mouth if you should happen to cough 

 

7) Remain courtesy to others as much as possible––let each have there space. 

 

8) Hand shakes, fist bumps, hugs, etc, are personal choices––please respect each others choices / preferences. 

 

9) Keep in mind if you have any comorbidity concerns, you may want to stay home for a few weeks and watch the webcast .. 

 

10) Potlucks are temporarily suspended for the time.

Commercial Break: The Game is on! The Math is Absolutely Correct!

The 302

"Ok, so what? It's still on the tracks mostly."

 Impressions of Sermon 302  (I don't believe it can be posted but I did take the time to listen as agonizing as it was)

Dave Pack is currently on sermon 302 continuing to show how easy and simple it now is to see where "they" didn't understand but now "he" does, the details of when Jesus will return. Currently it is this coming Fall for many reasons that Dave pulls out of his....mind.  

Dave notes that it was five years ago that he actually dreamed he would be giving 302 or 303 sermons on this.  I'm sure he noted that to subconsciously tell himself and the congregation this is normal and was actually shown to him to be the path to truth from God.  Shades of Bob Thiel.

Clearly Dave is running out of material and is focused on rambling around in the NT scriptures making them clearly mean whatever he needs them to mean. And I do mean rambling. From Joseph of Arimathea to the nuances of Greek words that prove it really means this and not that, the sermon is a mess. I could not imagine sitting through it in real time without wanting to simply leave and find better things to do. But that's just me. 

Dave sounds more like he is trying to convince himself than others. In one particular reference to 2 Peter , he mumbles , almost to himself, his way through the "in the last days there will be scoffers.. saying "where is the promise of his calling" to get on to a verse past that he liked.  He either didn't mean to run into that verse or it irritates him because, of course, scoffing is all he deserves at this point. He seems to do a lot of talking to himself at times. My sense is that down deep, his confidence is waning and he is asking himself, "where is the promise of his coming...?"  

His use of NT scriptures on how soon the NT portrays Jesus return in those days and to whom it was actually written is tortuous and scripture mining and proof texting in the "now lets go over here, now lets over here" in classic WCG mix and match style when they don't actually.  Dave sees obvious connections to his ridiculous views where there are none and never could be. But we knew that. 

So, the Good News for RCG is that "the math is absolutely correct" (I have stated in the past that real sermons should not have math in them) and his Jesus is coming in the Fall of '21.  I suspect it "absolutely has to be Trumpets..." , "We missed it but now I clearly see it's Atonement", and "How could we miss it?  It's so simple and now I see it. Last Great Day!  That's because, brethren, it's a "Great Day!  It's so clear!"

However, fudge factor is in place as he does note several times and with several NT examples we all know that we wait no matter when as others did. God doesn't count or see time as we do. And things have to go longer than supposed so there can be scoffers. I would remind us that it's scoffers to the mistaken ones and observations to those who notice Jesus has not returned as advertised. 

I prophesy that in the end and when it is time to pass on, and it will come, Dave will say  "I have fought a good fight. I have kept the faith. Therefore there is laid up for ME, a Crown of Righteousness....  I can't speak for YOU!"

Mark Armstrong Is Leading A Sinking Ship Thanks To His Political Stances

 

If you thought the political crap from Bill Watson and Bob Thiel was mind-numbingly tiresome, Mark Armstrong has exceeded them by miles. Every single thing he writes is a political crapfest of Republican against Democrat, liberal against conservative, and doom and gloom. Everything is wrong with the world he lives in and he is MAD! Like Bob Thiel and other self indulgent COG leaders, he cannot find anything good to write about. He would do better to channel his opinions into writing for Newsmax or some other ultra right site than pretending to be spiritual by spiritualizing politics when god is brought in at the last sentence, but that is how COG leaders have operated for decades.

His entire financial existence is built upon rebroadcasting his dad's videos and republishing his writings and expecting people to still support a dead guy.

The church is in the midst of a major make-over of its old websites for The ICG and the Garner Ted Armstrong Evangelistic Association – but will there be any changes to reverse the decline of the ICG itself? 

 

When Garner Ted Armstrong died in 2003, the ICG had around 90 congregations and was on around 30 television stations and cable outlets. His son Mark took over the day to day operation of the church and the production of the television outreach program. He was not ordained, and had no interest in ministry. 

 

Tom Kerry and a number of other ministers considered him unqualified for leadership and left in 2004 to form the first split in what eventually became known as Church of God Ministries International. 

 

Under Mark Armstrong’s leadership, two-thirds of the congregations have now been lost, and there has been no television outreach program for years. His personal involvement is a weekly blog and an occasional article for the quarterly magazine, both of which have little or no Christian content.
