No provisions for "group dating". Armstrongism FAIL.

Anonymous said...

This is going to cause a major problem when members of one group date members of another group. How long till Weston makes an announcement that LCG members NOT date UCG, and other CG people?

Byker Bob said...

Actually, this could be REALLY good for Bob Thiel, and all of the brethren in Africa.

We have seen comments from time to time right here at Banned from some of the African brothers and sisters. This is an opportunity to increase the stature of the CCOG, while also making this COG dating app a truly international experience! I'd like to encourage any of the single African brethren reading here, to please be sure to click on to the link in the article above, and sign in and register for COG dating. The dating pool among the ACOGs has been very very stale, on the wrong side of history, and frankly quite boring for some time! It's time to freshen it up, and you can help!!!

Do not delay or all will miss out! Sign in today, and tell a friend! It would be nice to see this exciting new app go viral with hundreds or even thousands of new applications!

It's not really "new." A quick web search found it's been around for at least five years.

PCG openly promotes online dating - but among its own members.

This did happen a while ago I remember here in Quebec a friend named Daniel C. who was with us in LCG and he was in love with a UCG girl. So Weston and his local ministers threwhim out of LCG, and so he went to UCG and was happy there and he married his girl. So then several years after that word came from Meredith about singles dating other COG members, and so Weston had his ministers tell Daniel that he could return to LCG and attend services again. Well, Daniel responded that, why should he want to return to LCG. He was happy with his wife and happy in UCG, and so that was that.

I can also see the issue of interracial marriage coming up because the LCG ministers go absolutely weird and hostile about it. They're worse about interracial dating and marriage than they are about fornication and adultery, and stuff like Doug Winnail's defilement and his own disobedience of Deuteronomy 24:2-4. Minister Winnail has done what is an abomination before the Lord and he has brought sin on the church. So eventually a single dating another from a different COG who is not the same"race" will have to decide to cast off the Westonite restraints and embrace what God has for him or her. Good. I've seen this before in LCg when a mixed couple were dating. I asked them what they would do about getting married since the LCG ministers won't marry them when it comes down to it. Well they just didn't say anything. I guess they just hoped that somehow the issue would go away or take careof itself. So eventually they got married by a minister or a JP outside the narrow confimes of LCG, and they still attend LCG. so that's how it was solved.

Anonymous said...

I actually like the idea, and wonder why it wasn't thought of 2 decades ago. It's much cheaper than those singles events and will save time and endergy. At least they're trying hahaha

Oh and:
-Must not read online bibles to Sabbath Services, (but you can date online)
-Females must not have student loan debt from college, because the borrower is slave to the lender.
AND THE BIG NO NO:
-MUST NOT INTERRACIALLY DATE!! (because one member is Israelite, and the other is not).

1:38, when Weston informs the LCG singles that they cannot date anyone outside LCG from another COG, I hope they will tell Weston to mind His own business before he minds their's. Yes, His business. they should point out that Weston's marriage to Carol is not exactly the Bible's model of a good and happy marriage. More of a business arrangement really. Weston knowingly permits open fornication andadultery in LCG, so he has nothing to complain about marriage between singles in various COGs, and he has nothing to say when it comes to his pet peeve of interracial marriage. Something about hypocrisy here? And straining at gnats and swallowing camels? How about sin in the camp? What happened to the elders of Israel who acted up like this, and what of Moses himself when he overreached? Or do these things not apply to the LCG ministers?

Anonymous said...

That one went defunct a few years ago. This one has been revised and opened in the last couple of weeks

Anonymous said...

Good for them! the LCG ministers are hypocrites, and they are too old to change.

Anonymous said...

I'm a LCG member and will say this: no minister will tell me who I can date or marry. I don't care who they are.

Anonymous said...

I used to be in the LCG and that’s what one big time minister kept trying to lord it over me. Soon as I came in, this 60 something old man trying to tell me who I can be with. Not knowing my background or what I would actually want. Just an old selfish man full of hate.

And 7:57 if they won’t allow you to marry who you want ( your desires), just ignore them. They’ve made mistakes themselves, and they don’t know everything.

A surf board? You must be kidding. Any member activity that does not directly benefit other church members is a no no. It's the game of the unjust steward. These churches view their members as rightless chattel who only exist to serve their churches needs. It's wise to hide any hobbies or interests from these churches.
Btw, that surf board photo is misleading public relations. The reality is very different.

Lee Walker said...

In the late 1990s there was a “Church of God Singles” mailing list or something, back before the Inter-webs were quite like they are today. It kind of faded out because the person running it would get married, handed off to another, who would in turn get married, etc. I remember I got contacted by one member. I asked about her and was told she was very attractive. Then I was told about her being on Xanax or something like that. Yeah.

Lee Walker said...

There is a graphic of what looks to be an interracial potential couple (White…guy, Black chick) on the front page.

Anonymous said...

I would say an COG online dating site would be one of the most dangerous situations, a non married COG person could put themselves.

All kinds of untold weirdos, fake names and pretense will be going on. It is well known that some ministry, have fake names on social media, and go about spying and causing untold havoc for their own sneering amusement.

Lee Walker said...

Sounds like what the Tkach policy was — allowing a civil ceremony when the minister wouldn’t marry them.

Anonymous said...

If LCG CAD Director Doug Winnail can ignore LCG policy (and the Bible's plain commands) about marriage, no LCG member should feel compelled to abide by it, either.

Tonto said...

Are they planning on a COG "Tinder" or "Adult Friend Finder " site too??

Lake of Fire Church of God said...

So Living Church of God does not recognise other ACOGs as God’s church? Even Herbert Armstrong had to finally admit that the dead Sardis era Church of God, Seventh Day was God‘s church also! Richard

Anonymous said...

How do you define "race"? Is this a scientific term or a sociological one? What do people who are of mixed race do? Who do they marry? Do they have an option of choosing between several options? Maybe the church should consult with the race laws of Germany 1935-1945.

Anonymous said...

A couple of decades ago there was a similar website run by Andy Lausted. I think it was called YACOG. The evolution of Facebook and other social media eventually rendered it obsolete, so he took it down.

Anonymous said...

Garner Ted was oft quoted as stating that he had had sexual relations with over 200 women. I can't imagine him as not having been the least little bit curious about exotic women from the full palette of skin pigmentation. How could he not have become bored with sugar, and also desiring a little cinnamon or chocolate? Wasn't that the pattern established by Solomon?

Anonymous said...

Actually "Walker" in certain areas COG ministry cannot legally marry couples. The couples have to get married twice. Once legally and then 'by the ministry'. Otherwise the marriage is not legal. You she should know that.

Lee Walker said...

Yes, I know, but it’s totally immaterial to the specific matter at hand. This has to do with issues within the church, not civil legal issues outside. My point was simply that what was described sounded like what I remember hearing during announcements once in my time in WCG.

I would say it was a nice try, but it really wasn’t.

Anonymous said...

I think it was called YACOG.

YACOG? As in Yet Another Church of God?

Byker Bob said...

Yeah! The surf board really caught my eye! ACOG dating webmaster must have been a Brian Wilson fan. Or, COGlodytes are still living in the '60s! The Zeitgeist of 2025 would probably dictate a picture of a black guy and a white guy standing next to each other at the club, both with head phones on, or earbuds in, with dual turntables and a microphone on the table in front of them, as they traded rhymes.

But, ACOG members wouldn't get into that on a date, would they? Are they even into Vin Diesel and the F&F franchise?

Well, we know GTA was a little naughty at the college. And perhaps he dabbled in the darkness when segregation ended at the college. This would have been prior to 1978.

Anonymous said...

With that many women, GTA must have had all manner of sexually transmitted diseases. This would have resulted in him passing on these diseases to his partners. One is eight people in his day had the herpes infection, for which there is still no cure. His cocktail of diseases would have contributed to his early death at age 73.

You she wrote 'the Tkach policy - allowing a civil cereminy when the minister WOULDN'T marry them.'

The only one trying things is yourself.

Lee Walker said...

Yes. “Wouldn’t.” There is no civil statute prohibiting the action in question. Whether the refusal by the minister is based on civil law, their own preference, or directive from their church is beside the point. You yourself put the discussion in the civil realm: “ Otherwise the marriage is not legal.”

Also, try to watch the “she’s” every time you write the word “you.” Thx.

Lee Walker said...

I will add this for people who can’t seem to gather intelligent points: My point was that LCG and Tkach both have or had policies that would allow for an outside-officiated marriage involving at least one member to be recognized in the fellowship.

I hope that helps people who have… issues.

Very base, classless and low x3 comments. He's long dead.
Is this all you've got to give? Then you all complain the 'target audience' don't engage! No kidding.

Avoura said...

Are there any singles on this site who want to try out this new dating site and report back? I cannot do it as I am happily married.

Anonymous said...

2.05, the sins of the "long dead" in both the OT and NT are there for all to read. And that's for all eternity. It's comes with the benefits of fame and wealth. It's part of God's creation. So Garner 'can't keep it in his pants' Armstrong will always be remembered for his womanizing.

Lee Walker said...

Armstrongist affiliation and Leviticus 23 observance are required. Someone could fake it, of course. But the risk of getting caught in losing cred doesn’t seem worth it.

If somebody does opt to do it, good luck, and report back!

Anonymous said...

Well, the dude was a disgrace, 2:05. When you conduct your life in certain ways, then nobody remembers the good things you might have done. Where is it written that dying exempts you from criticism? By the way, do you actually believe that the target audience refuses to engage because we criticise GTA? You don't think that maybe it's because we disprove their doctrines, and laugh at their false prophecies?

Anonymous said...

Great point, 4:46. since Winnail is head of the ministers in the LCG and he is in direct violation of marriage within the Law, (that they claim to love), then every other member should simply ignore the counsel of their ministers concerning a disagreement when they are trying to get married. The ministers can't even address the old man above them in this matter. They are cowards.

See John the Baptist would have corrected Winnail to his face. They are not like those men of God in the bible.

Byker Bob said...

I would not recommend attempting to deceive those who are already vulnerable and perhaps somewhat hopeless due to the small numbers of eligible church singles in their local areas. The last thing they need is imposters destroying what little hope there might be in an ACOG environment.

Here is what I would hope for the site. First, it would be great if intercurricular dating amongst all of the ACOGs caused people to transition away from the really toxic and overbearing groups, and into the more mild ones. Dating is one of the activities that traditionally has led numerous young people to leave Armstrongism. It is a very powerful force in young peoples' lives. It could also lead them to the relative safety of a milder version of Armstrongism.

Secondly, I would hope that the participants would expand their own personal opportunities by being open to interracial relationships. The cultural differences the ministers have always cited are not as great as they once were. Most white families of today do already have people of various colors married into them. This has been made attractive because of a gradual equalization of socio-economic statuses amongst the different races. There are very desirable mates amongst all ethnicities, good people, good earners. Making that the priority instead of skin color can work.

Lastly, increase the pool by thinking globally. These churches often emphasize the size of their membership around the world when publishing their annual statistics. Many people from a variety of cultures are fluent in English. It can also be very exciting having new cultural influences brightening up one's life.

Many of us here would like to see people escape cults. Given the personalities and mind sets of some people, that is not always possible. But, surely, a close second would be seeing their quality of life improve as a result of being in less toxic versions of the Armstrong cults. Perhaps that is what the new dating site will accomplish.

2:05 that doesn't square with Nehemiah mentioning Solomon's sin hundreds of years later that would be a part of the canon. You gotta call a spade a spade.

Nehemiah 13:26 Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him, who was beloved of his God; and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless pagan women caused even him to sin.

Byker Bob said...

I've seen this before, guys. About ten years ago on another blog, comments similar to 2:05's were made about GTA. In the exchange which followed, it was revealed that it was some of GTA's grand kids who were defending him. They were likable, and it occurred to me that they had a unique and difficult perspective. Family is family. Most of the COG+ and WCG members felt very much let down by the man. He was the only one who had the talents, experience, and personality to continue HWA's work, and there was no "Plan B".

Yea BB, I remember a few years ago on the blog, how a certain group of young people just were trying to identify themselves as being in the church, rather than a specific splinter group church or that splinter group church. The splinter group thing limits the opportunities. The online dating option can open up a global view of friends and perhaps a partner (yea increase globally). Currently I converse with several people from around the world. Like you said, English is sort of a language that is spoken in several countries so there are fewer barriers. Many people have a LinkedIn account or have jobs that might be international. But an online thing can bring in imposters and other issues.

I also remember running into couples at feast sites that had one spouse in a different splinter group than the one they were a member of. Also some of them were married multiple times. At the same time the ministry was against interracial marriage within their own group. It left me scratching my head. This is the kind of stuff they don’t put in their literature (booklets) or on their telecast. This enforcement comes down from the ministers.

First sentence doesn't make sense. Nor does always being at war with different individuals, how many decades is it? How many different individuals?
Enemies now? So peace was fake as fake could be. Always at war, always fighting against this or that. Always wanting to create turmoil, create upset in the church. Don't you know many were fed up with the troubles years ago ?
Always yourselves against others. Funny i see everyone else getting along peacefully.

12:57 PM — First sentence was auto-corrected. “On” should be “own.”

Now, 1:19 AM — Is it delusion or self-gratification that gets you to throw that…BS around? If you’re going to level an accusation, you need to have at least some evidence. I, your superior, have laid out evidence that I really am who I say I am. You are such a coward that you won’t even say who you are. You need to stay in your mommy’s basement and go play on RPGs and such (I am old school). Let us adults handle this rather serious issue of a cult which worships a child molester. Now go run and play, little baby.

I know you are old school.

Your condecending, conceited anger gives you away, always. Half these names on here are obviously you.
Handle what situation ? Remind the world how many decades Herbert been dead? The extent to which you have to keep complaining about Herbert Armstrong must be to the extent you worshipped him.

Your achieving nothing on here but ruining your own reputation and wallowing in misery and hypocrisy.

The only person here who is condescending is you with your baseless accusations. I know who is behind the names you mentioned and who they are. The extent you keep coming back to whine and complain is boring. You have achieved nothing on here but ruin your own reputation (as if you had any) as you wallow in your own misery and hypocrisy.

You are a liar. You must be pretending to believe your own lies. But who's really convinced ?
I'm not miserable, far from it, sorry to disapoint you. I'm not a hypocrite. You are a verbal bully.

You use UCG paid for computers and equipment to see who is posting, by using information off the cookies information you gather.
You are a corrupt clique of UCG Pastors, wives and cronies. The hypocrisy of this blog is through the roof.

How could i "ruin my own reputation" when this blog is supposed to be exWCG from all around the world??, you expose your own deceit by your petty hate filled insults of me.
This blogs fake names, take private information that only the UCG local Ministry know, and throw out underhanded, verbal abuse thinking the UCG members are weak and easily upset.

What is a reputation for Christians ? What reputation did Jesus have on earth ? Look at the insults the religious leaders gave Jesus. They called the Saviour of us all, the devil to his face, in the Temple! Seems to be a sign, insults from religious leaders.

Lee Walker said...

Nuclear proof that I’m not what you say I am: I deny Jesus as my personal savior. A Christian of any stripe can’t do that, even to save his own life.
