Obama, The Last Pope and the Yahoo COGers

No one has ever discredited the conservative Armstrongites more than they do themselves with their stupid end times conspiracy theories and false prophecies.  In line with the racist mindset of the far right in the COG here is another tidbit from our buddies on Yahoo.

Things to keep in mind:
A final troubling disclosure at the conclusion of this entry may cast light on why Obama seemed fascinated with such anti-Christian symbolism in the lead-up to his election victory.  A Hadith (tradition) sacred to Shiite Islam from the 17th century contains a prophecy from Ali ibn Abi-Talib, which predicts that just before the return of the Mahdi (the end-times redeemer of Islam), a “tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West.”  This leader will command “the strongest army on earth” and will bear “a clear sign” from the third imam, Hussein.  The prophecy concludes that: “Shiites should have no doubt that he is with us.”

Does this Islamic prophecy identify Obama as the “promised warrior” who comes to help the savior of Shiite Muslims conquer the world?  Amir Taheri asked this very question for Forbes Magazine in October, 2008, pointing out how “Obama’s first and second names—Barack Hussein—mean ‘the blessing of Hussein’ in Arabic and Persian” while his “family name, Obama, written in the Persian alphabet, reads O Ba Ma, which means ‘he is with us,’ the magic formula in Majlisi’s tradition.”

From a book by Tom Horn, "Apollyon Rising"

In another book, he suggests the Last Pope is "already here" and finds evidence that the last pope will not take the name of Peter (altho called "Peter the Roman") but will call himself Pius. He is supposed to be an "authoritarian" like the last Pius... but did not give away which cardinal he thinks it could be.

Unfortunately, we live in times when partisanship knows no sensible boundaries. Whoever is elected as our president, whether he be Democrat or Republican, gets slandered with false information, or innuendo. You have to wonder how a normal human being could manage to actually fulfill the duties of his office while being so assailed.

I happen to have some equipment at Democratic party headquarters in our city, and was servicing it leading up to the last presidential election. The ladies adjacent to me were doing telemarketing calls. The objection at the time which seemed to be the one they were hearing most was, "Oh, I'm not going to vote for him because he's a Moslem." The telemarketers believed this to be totally unfounded and untrue, but lacked the ability to prove the negative, ie to demonstrate that in spite of his name, he was not.

Is he? I don't know. People have lifted quotations from his book that suggest that he might be. However, there was the flap over his pastor several years back, the pastor not being Moslem, although based on attitude I'm not sure he was genuine Christian either.

Speaking for himself, President Obama has stated that he is Christian, and that he prays and studies his Bible every morning prior to starting his day.

I'm really not caught up in partisan politics myself, but am willing to give the man the benefit of the doubt, and not assume or invoke Armstrongian conspiracies in evaluating the president. I don't particularly enjoy the prospects of the deficit, but wouldn't have liked a depression, either. Perhaps some good old fashioned pump priming was just what the doctor ordered at this point in history. Probably if McCain had won the election, things would have been handled in such a way that there would have been rioting in the streets.
