Crackpot Prophet: Those That Watch Super Bowl Do So At The Behest Of Satan

SpongeBob Sponge Pants, our very own resident crackpot, self-appointed, false prophet is back tooting his itty-bitty little horn today about how EVIL and SATANIC the Super Bowl is and that those who will watch it are doing so because Satan has entered their minds telling them to do so.

Apparently, most of you miscreants out there in COGland who will watch it do so because you lust after the football players, cheerleaders, and VIOLENCE! Bad boys and girls! Bad Laodiceans! Bad!

Tackle football is a lust of the flesh and eyes. Those who claim to be Christian and endorse it are letting the pride of life deceive them.

How many who are in the COGs love the worldly sport of American tackle football and really do not care that it causes irreparable harm to its participants? Is it not another reason that some watch because of their lust for violence and/or for social acceptance?

This is not what loving Christians should do.

Most violent sports advocates do not seem to realize that they are being influenced by the devil who is the prince of the power of the air:

1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:1-10)

SpongeBob adds:

Since I do not actually watch American football, I do not know how many violent acts are likely at this year’s Super Bowl, but the number is likely to be very high, and maybe even a lot more if thoughts of violence are included (cf. Matthew 5:21-22).

In my view, the tackle version of the sport of American football is evil (touch football I would not consider to be inherently evil–though attitude is still a possible factor there). Also, no Christian can really defend how professional football cheerleading females are publicly dressed and displayed–and presumably some of how they will be displayed at the Super Bowl game.

Our foremost authority on EVERYTHING claims he knows what Jesus would do:

Would Jesus want you to watch the Super Bowl? What about the Apostle Paul who warned against approving violence? The same Apostle Paul who said to imitate him as he imitated Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1). Would Jesus or the Apostle Paul watch the Superbowl as football fans rooting for one team to crush the other team?

“Perhaps,” some might answer. And still others may ridicule and/or dismiss what I have written.

However, if Jesus Himself did watch the Super Bowl, would He watch it and hope that one team would tackle and crash into members of the other team? Or might He watch it, if He did, so He could make social commentary against the violence and/or distorted priorities of the land?

Are you sure about the name? I thought our Petulant Prophet was named SquareBob SpongePants, the opposite of the beloved cartoon character. Our Bob needs SpongePants because he is so pissy and butthurt, and he certainly is a square. As for the Super Bowl, I would be much more worried about the commercials and the halftime entertainment than about the well-paid players who are making a conscious adult choice (however unwise) to trade their long-term health for a few years of good paydays.

Logic isn't Bob's strong suit. If football broadcasts are inherently evil because Satan is the prince of the power of the air, then shouldn't the same reasoning apply to World Tomorrow broadcasts? Also, is football less evil when I watch it on YouTube and no air power is involved? It seems Bob didn't think things through very carefully.

Bob's not that interesting though.

Bob, of the law, quoting from Ephesians 1, while sitting in his own self-righteousness (Philippians 3:9), like the hirelings of the former WCG, is still striving to save this world. What would a loving Christian do?

Is God imposing His law on football fans of this world? Isn't it still, as a minimum, blessings or cursings for keeping God's law, or not? People still sin; people are still dying!

What loving Christian believes the following verses?

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world..."

"To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them;..." 2 Cor 5:19

Will God, whether one watches football or not, ultimately have reconciled this world without trespasses unto Himself, or not?

Or, is Bob Thiel's god one, like some imperfect parent, that will lose a whole bunch of His children in some lake of fire? Wouldn’t that god be an imperfect parent?

What does Bob (& Doug Winnail and the many hirelings who fled the former WCG), Romans 7?

Romans 7:17 "Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but [how] to perform that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me."

Bob et al, do you believe those words? If yes, unless you are "better than” the Apostle Paul, do you not sin daily? Weekly? Monthly? Minutely? Why couldn't you get that sin out? Does you flesh cause you problems?

Sin? Where does that come from? Oh, many sources could be cited, but consider this:

"He that committeth sin is of the devil;..." I John 3:8

These verses are all speaking to loving Christians of God's Church? Are y'all one of them folks?

And Bob, (representing xcog hirelings of the former WCG), love that word "influenced," but it should be “controlled;” otherwise, y'all would choose to stop sinning, wouldn't you? What choice did Cain have when he killed his brother Abel? (I John 3:12, 3)

So, can Bob, tell us how to get that sin out, and choose to keep it out and choose to never allow it back in? Sin is in your life, Bob, every day you get so into "God's law" and self-righteousness.

Do you think God isn't aware of evil (Isaiah 45:7; Genesis 2:9, 3:22)? We're learning to hate evil (Psalm 97:10; Proverbs 8:13), aren't we, whether we're a loving Christian or not!

Oh, and Bob Thiel, before you write your next memo striving to use Fear Religion to beat us all into earning our salvation (like was done in the former WCG), something no human will earn or qualify for: think about this:

Romans 7:21 "I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me."

So, is sin still in you, Bob Thiel? And is evil present with Bob (yes, and with those hirelings of the former WCG), yes, and in my life as well?

Time will tell whether God will really reconcile the world (including "loving Christians" and football watching spectators/participants) unto Himself.

God is love, but so many think He lied to us, and believe His Son was sent to condemn this world, but time will tell.

Time will tell…

John

I agree! More people have been harmed by Bob Thiel and his lies than have ever been harmed in playing football.

Bob did an interesting piece on "African" church history. Not as detailed as it could be and he still had to shoehorn it into his very debatable version of doctrinal history, but https://www.cogwriter.com/news/church-history/black-history-month-lets-look-at-some-african-church-history/

Come on!! It is a sport people. Nothing more ,nothing less. If that is all he has to write about to get attention, I believe no one with a sound mind will believe him.

Back in the day, at spring and summer church socials, there were often touch football games. There were those who still complained about those on the line who were effective blockers, allowing the quarterback to run the plays.

I always thought this odd. We were ascetics. Also, one had to be mentally tough as a church member, believing that the tribulation was inevitable sometime in the not too distant future.

It would have seemed that a certain gladiator mentality would have accompanied the asceticism, and might have helped prepare members for future events we all expected. Football fosters mental and physical toughness, as well as a team mentality. I guess they just didn't want us to be like Spartacus. People actually look up to gladiator types, especially in tough situations. But, we can't have that, now can we? It would undermine the authority of the ministry.

It's just a game?

"The NFL features some of the most superior athletes in the entire world playing an extremely dangerous game. Football is one of the most violent possible sports, with massive athletes colliding in a, sometimes, chaotic fashion. The nature of the game has resulted in a ton of injuries during every NFL season."

"While injuries are an unavoidable part of football, some injuries are much more serious than others. In some of the most extreme cases, a player's life could be in jeopardy due to an injury they have suffered on the football field."

"Damar Hamlin, the Buffalo Bills safety who had a cardiac arrest on the field during a Monday Night Football game last season against the Cincinnati Bengals, returned Saturday for his first NFL action since a blow to the chest caused his heart to stop."

"Darryl Floyd Stingley (September 18, 1951 – April 5, 2007) was an American professional football player, a wide receiver whose career was ended at age 26 by an on-field spinal cord injury."

"How many NFL players have died from CTE?
Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) has been found in 345 of 376 deceased former National Football League (NFL) players' brains, according to a 2023 report by the Boston University CTE Center, which has led the effort to diagnose CTE cases."

"Detroit Lions' Reggie Brown suffered a terrifying spinal cord injury that left him completely paralyzed on the field while attempting to make a tackle against an opposing rushing play. The paralysis was so serious that he was unable to breathe without assistance, resulting in him receiving CPR on the field."

Joe Namath Blames Football for Long-Term Brain Damage
TV Guide

"Former New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath says he is currently suffering from health problems which he believes are the result of football-induced head injuries."

"Namath is the latest NFL player to speak out about the serious side effects caused by concussions suffered while playing football. These head injuries have been linked to memory loss, dementia and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease."

"None of the body was designed to play football. Excuse me, you know, football, we're just not designed for," Namath says.

You listen to Joe Namath's account of humans not meant for NFL & then see if Jesus would sit in the arena and cheer while Oakland Raiders safety Jack Tatum rushes toward Darryl Stingley of the Patriots...before Mr. Stingley's spine is broke.

"Did Jack Tatum ever apologize to Darryl Stingley?

Stingley became a quadriplegic. He always looked for an apology which he never received. Tatum never sought to apologize because it was part of the game. Stingley made some suggestion that it was somehow premediated because Tatum had a chance to pull it up.Jan 3, 2023"

Look how many COGers "need" to drive a big tough safe SUV now or a cowboy style macho Yellowstone-Kevin Costner pickup truck for "protection" instead of a new Fiat or SmartCar or Chevy Impala or Ford Focus or Toyota Corolla. But they'll send their crosstown college boys off to the draft pick & risk a life of battering & jolting & abuse equal over time to what a paint shaker machine does at the hardware store.

No one sits very long either in the most violent amusement park rides (such as The Tagada), otherwise the body would have the same shake-up rattling felt in an NFL career.

No amount of hi-tech Riddell® super helmets or shoulder pads or knee pads or nut-cups will protect or circumvent the limited way God designed our bodies to function efficiently but hardly withstand another hulking, fast approaching obnoxious money & fame driven freight train-bullfighting-fellow American bent on toppling us over as his NFL opponent.

None of us would drive our family vehicle in the local county fair demolition derby, we know the car can't withstand the battering. None of us would strip out the chassis & frame suspension collision-absorbing shocks & springs or rubber motor mounts because the vehicle would be ripped to shreds just like an NFL player's body is in that "game".

Every one of you even 6:47 agrees that Evel Knievel was abusing the body God gave him, but it's "ok" to do it on the NFL field.

Not many of you would watch Johnny Knoxville's dangerous body stunts on "Jackass" because ohh, it's too violent, too hard on the human body although NFL injury is similar or worse. Not even 3 Stooges slapstick is popular much anymore (especially to female viewers) but NFL tackles & spine injuries are so patriotic, so athletic, so team-spirit solidarity.

You NFL fans have at least one thing in common with some of the CCOG men I met at a TN feast site...you could sense a couple of them were inwardly secretly yearning to violate their main pastor's directive against continuing their private zeal of being an NFL fan themselves. They exuded a mentality of secretly watching NFL at home without letting the pastor know. And some acted like Trump is important enough to break the COG no-voting directive too.

No other nation has as many shootings, deaths, beatings every day now as U.S.A. Our society is founded on Revolutionary War guns shooting their way into freedom, then establishing the NRA mentality to pervade.

Then, the slasher horror movies & video games along with NFL enthusiasm are all part or minor contributors of why we have more school shootings and NH Adam Montgomery-style fist beatings to death onto children such as his little Harmony Montgomery, than any other nation on earth.

No one's spine, or circulatrory system, or skull was designed by God to pretend a Riddell® helmet can protect an opposing team's hulking athletic ogre to crash onto any part of our anatomy.

Why can't the U.S. play fútbol instead?  🥅🏐
