Trickster Devil Still Causing God's Favorite Church Issues

That big old meanie trickster, the Devil, is STILL causing serious issues for God's most important church leader to ever walk this green earth. All of the dreams in the world never forecast that the Great Bwana Bob Mzungu would be facing an endless attack from Legion, particularly since we are not anywhere near the end times.

God's most important man writes:

On other matters, we continue to deal with malware issues impacting our numerous church websites. Our man in Portugal is now involved in assisting on this, which should help us immensely. And although we believe we are making more progress (several issues were resolved), preventing recurrences is still not fully resolved. This is impacting our making our The Gospel of the Kingdom of God booklet available in as many languages/dialects that we have received. Please continue to pray about this.

Our hope is to upload and/or reconnect additional languages for the The Gospel of the Kingdom of God booklet.

Matthew 24:14 will be fulfilled and despite setbacks, we are preparing for the short work of Romans 9:28.

Another hope we have is that after we hit close to the available languages we can receive translations into, we will then start a similar process with another one of our booklets. Remember we are to reach “all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues” (Revelation 7:9) and we continue to work in preparation of that goal (see also Preparing for the ‘Short Work’ and The Famine of the Word).

''.. despite setbacks, we are preparing for the short work of Romans 9:28''

KJV and NKJV are the only version using the word 'work'. Check in Bible Hub.

Young's Literal Translation:
28 for a matter He is finishing, and is cutting short in righteousness, because a matter cut short will the Lord do upon the land.
Berean Literal Bible
’For the Lord will perform the sentence He is concluding and bringing swiftly upon the earth."
Smith's Literal Translation
''For finishing and cutting short the word in justice: for the Lord will make the word cut short upon the earth''.

These words in Romans have zero to do with an Armstrong sect based in good old USA pretending to have some 'work' to do and demanding tithes to do it.

Short work

“In [Romans 10] verse 25-26 Paul quotes two texts from Hosea, to explain God’s amazing inclusion of the Gentiles, and then in verse 27-29 two texts from Isaiah, to explain his equally amazing reduction of Jewish inclusion to a remnant” (John Stott, The Message of Romans, BST, p.273).

“In order to understand Paul’s handling of these texts, we need to remember that, according to the New Testament, Old Testament prophecies often have a threefold fulfilment. The first is immediate and literal (in the history of Israel), the second intermediate and spiritual (in Christ and his church), and the third ultimate and eternal (in God’s consummated kingdom)” (John Stott, The Message of Romans, BST,p.274).

Isa 10:22 And though the people of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant of them shall be saved.
Isa 10:23 He will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because the Lord will make a short work in all the world. (Brenton, LXX).

“If the Old Testament and Jewish tradition make it important for Paul to justify the inclusion of the Gentiles, it also requires him to show why not all Jews are being included. Thus the quotations he uses about Israel in verse 27-29 focus not on God’s call of Jews per se but on his call of only a minority of Jews. Isaiah 10:22-23, quoted in part in Romans 9:27-28, is one of the great ‘remnant’ texts in the Old Testament. The remnant conception emerged in the prophets as a message of both judgement and hope — judgment, because the continuing sinfulness of Israel brought God’s judgment on the people as a whole, resulting in the salvation of only some of the people” (Douglas J. Moo, Romans, NIVAC, pp.321-22).

Ro 9:27 Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved. (NIV).

“We hear both notes in the Isaiah 10 quotation. On the one hand, though the people are Israel are numerous, God will save only the remnant. (The word “only” has nothing corresponding to it in the Greek text, but is a legitimate contextual gloss). On the other hand, the remnant will be saved. Verse 28, which quotes from Isaiah 10:23, is difficult to interpret. But probably it reinforces the note of judgment from Romans 9:27: God will carry out the judgment that he has decreed against Israel with certainty and with dispatch” (Douglas J. Moo, Romans, NIVAC, p.322).

“The point of this verse is rather unclear. The general sense is to stress that the Lord will accomplish his purpose on the earth, presumably in the salvation of the remnant as well as in judgment. The uncertainty stems from two participles, which literally rendered, say “finishing it” and “cutting it short”... Probably this idea of “cutting short” refers to the limitation of the salvation of Israel to the remnant who have believed in the gospel” (Everett F. Harrison & Donald A. Hagner, Romans, Rev. ed., EBC, Vol.11, pp.155-56)

“The quotation in verse 28 is somewhat problematic. The original Greek (lit., “The Lord completes and cuts short his word on earth”) is rendered ambiguously by the NIV, the Lord will carry out his sentence on earth with speed and finality. Paul evidently means that God currently accomplishes his purpose through a diminished Israel. But even a remnant is testimony to God’s grace” (James R. Edwards, Romans, NIBC, p.243).

Isa 10:22 And though the people of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant of them shall be saved.

"The Hebrew text of Isaiah has a remnant that "will return" (Isa 10:22), but Paul cites the LXX version that reads only a remnant will be saved"... They need to be saved from their sins, which can transpire only through their trust in Christ (5:9-11; 10:9, 13). Paul understands that Isaiah’s oracle has been fulfilled, and the remnant now consists of those Jews, chosen by grace, who believe in Christ (11:5). God now carries out his purpose through a shrunken Israel” (David E. Garland, Romans, TNTC, p.316).
