The following comment on the LCG Yahoo board describes why Armstrongism will NEVER grow or advance as a legitimate church. The idea that you are not to read anything outside Armstrongism's writings shows how utterly bankrupt the beliefs and teachings of the church truly are!
I have no idea why someone who claims to be a church member would
recommend a book or any writing by an unconverted, uncalled person in
whom God's Holy Spirit did not dwell to be used as a guideline for
Christian behavior. I don't care if the authors name is Henry David
Thoreau or someone else for that matter. The Bible Trumps all of
those writings. To imply the scriptures are incomplete as a guide for
Christian behavior and needs to be suplemented by some writing by an
unconverted person reflects the thought pattern of an unstable mind.
Even when a church's government is off track and even abusing people
we can find scriptures to help guide thru such a minefield. If more
time were spent reading the scriptures rather than reading writings
not inspired by God a diligent person could find the scriptural
guidance needed for every conceiveable situation. The Bible is
complete for our time - use it!!!

What nonsense! Rod Meredith and his flunkies often recommend books by unconverted people. For example, Rod talks in sermons about how he learned management from Peter Drucker's books. If the writer of that comment is really an LCG member, he/she is in the wrong church. Hasn't he/she noticed that LCG's telecast and magazine often take Christian living principles from non-Biblical sources? Sorry, but it's not fair to pin this problem on Rod Meredith or LCG.
If I had only read stuff by "the converted", my washing machine would remain broken and my dryer would still be squeaking loudly.
As it is, they're both fixed now, because I read things written by "the unconverted Samurai[read, "demonic"])appliance repair advisers.
(On the internet, no less!)
To be fair, though, most of these religious shitheads probably don't care about what their minions read, as long as it's not about religion or the aspects of people's lives over which they demand control.

That's not what my Therapist thought when I told her about Armstrongism yesterday. It is her belief that the Armstrongists are totally nuts, although she did admit that while narcissists, sociopaths and psychopaths are in the DSM IV, "nutjobs" is not. She was quite impressed with the copy of Take Back Your Life. She also was interested in DNArefutesBI.com and I gave her the business card (you can print them from a .pdf from the site).
Now if the LCG members really read the Bible, they will find that the LCG has a name that it is Living, but it is dead. They will also find that the LCG is breaking the third commandment by taking God's Name in vain and He is not going to hold them guiltless: They teach lies and practice deception with their false prophecies based on British Israelism. The members of the LCG will find Jesus himself warning that Roderick Meredith is a false prophet in sheep's clothing, but a ravening wolf. They will also find the type of man Meredith really is in II Timothy 3 and the very pointed command from the Apostle Paul, "From such turn away".
In fact, an LCG member was complaining how horrible it was in the LCG and I turned to II Timothy 3 and read Scriptures straight from the Bible, then asked him, "Why don't you obey the Bible and turn away from this group?" He was not happy and wandered off. He has never talked to me again and this was years ago.
So read your Bibles, you Living Church of God members.
Then obey it.
