Post Theological Stress Disorder

I would have liked to think I could have blown this all off or chalked it all easily up to just another experience in life, but after way too long, I admit  to the fact that for me, the WCG experience has left me with an ongoing case of P(T)TSD.  And no, I am not being cute or flippant about it.  I will leave posting or not posting this up to the Blogmeister.  He knows me very well and has been a great help through the years aside from inviting me to write on his blog.  It is something I'd like to say but perhaps should not get all that personal about.  We'll see.  I don't want to make this decision at this point and I think I have the freedom to do it with NO2HWA.

There are several reasons why being open and honest about feelings, emotions, perspectives and such can be foolish in most groups.  I have been told that and experienced the truth of it from time to time.  One always runs the risk of the "all you ministers...."  deserve what you get or some kind of scorn when drifting over the boundaries between this is how I feel and this is unique to just me.  I am well aware of how many have suffered in many ways .  The experience is not unique to humans but it is unique to this one. 

A few weeks ago I got a "you have email from Ms SuzyQ" from a dating site.  This dating site thing has not been the greatest experience and I let it go but this one came in just under the wire.   "Hi....I just read your profile.  It was fascinating. Until I got to the part where you 'used' to be a minister.  You must be a jerk."   Lol.  That's the South for you.  So being or not being at this point is a losing proposition no matter which way one goes.  I wrote asking why the hell she would waste her time to send me that message but as yet have not had a response.  

The last ten years have been difficult and I'd have thought it would not take so long to process this .  Divorce, broken relationships with people I love deeply and always will and with those I thought I did but disappeared and apparently were users,  and other "stuff" have taken its toll.  I either have the chemistry from hell, am too sensitive to changes in life or defective.  I chose to go with the first two but leave the door open to other realities.  Depression, which seems to me to be anger turned inward or too expensive to express is there.  Anxiety about how the future can possible work out lurks.  Sometimes I wake up at night, think a thought and it sets off a cascade of thoughts that lead to being up the rest of the night just holding the pillow close because my stomach hurts now. Sometimes I have trouble just breathing or sitting still.  My head runs like a freight train and fixing is not an option for the most part, just acceptance.  

Chewie the Wookie does help  and is about the most loyal creature I have ever encountered. 

It was only this week that I can admit that I have PTSD in the classic and very real sense.  For me, this whole WCG experience, aside from many wonderful experiences along the way, has turned out to be traumatic, emotionally, physically and spiritually.  Dark nights of souls and all that.  

All my life in the ministry I was told after speaking or privately when talking about many things over the years that I "ahead of my time," and that "you say things I'm only thinking."  I used to think that was a compliment but it is a formula for eventual Crucifixion or stake burning evidently.  One prominent WCG Executive type told me way back that he didn't understand why I was in the ministry of WCG and didn't need to be because it didn't fit me, whatever that meant.  I think I now know what he meant.  

One minister told me when I left on my first ministerial assignment from college, "for you, the sky is the limit."   That both perplexed and then annoyed me as it honestly would not have crossed my mind that the sky being the limit was a goal of ministry.  It was an odd comment.

Ouch!  All very familiar.  I only find solace in the fact that if millions did not react this way there would not be such a list in the first place.  I mean the reasons Barnes and Noble has isles of self help books and such is because millions are seeking help!    On the other hand, I believe with all my being that had I gone to the Wesleyan  Seminary instead of WCG I would have had a similar crisis of faith as my natural tendencies and questioning nature of all things theological and Bible would have still existed.  I may have had a different story, different players and even different family and kids , but the experience would have played out much the same I believe.  I could be wrong.  The Methodist would have allowed one to hold different views and not endanger the rest of the life's security.   I don't know if I would have had the same personal challenges that I did or come up with new and different ones but I suspect the story would have been similar.


So, why bother writing about this.  I dunno.  I just want to.  It's been one of those weeks I suppose (See above list) and it helps me to share and the beat can go on.  I assume I am not alone in these experiences.  I am not really pleased with myself for the length of time this seems to take.  Maybe I will never get past it or maybe it always will occupy a huge portion of my life experiences.  "Just forget it," doesn't see to work well.  I probably have ADD and touch of LMNOP.  


Member or Minister, I don't think it makes much difference when the world of theology one adopts seems so secure, so safe and so meaningful and then falls apart.  I don't feel safe or secure anymore and while learning is enjoyable for me, meaning still escapes me as I am sure it does for many others.  I tried going to a liberal church but had an anxiety attack and felt I could have given a much better sermon and why he got paid for that. lol.  I've prayed a few time as in days gone by and not much seems to come from that.  I even tried to read the Bible again "for the very first time," and....nope.  Doesn't work for me except some of the more encouraging parts which are also found in many other kinds of books.

 
At any rate, thanks for listening if you get to read this!  I always defined the WCG experience as "one damned thing after the next."  And this was true.  It helps me a bit to chat and perhaps it can help others not feel so weird or slow in the recovery process as well.

Living in the mountains I have learned to take care of myself. Most people today couldn’t survive if the banks shut down or all electricity was shut off. They would panic. Are young men today taught how to kill their own food? Take care of their own families? No! They have no true survival skills. They would panic if they could no longer use their cell phone. They would panic if their ATM card no longer worked. This is the frightening world that we are living in.

Isolating ones self away from civilizations also causes many men to go crazy.  Case in point.....

*People have relied on electronic devices to the point that they no longer have natural skills of survival. These people who write all these ‘New Age’ books sit in front of their computers drinking coffee [or an ‘energy drink’] and come across like they have ‘all the answers’. They would cry like little babies if their computers were taken away from them or even their cell phones. They need drugs and electronic gadgets to live. They know no other life style. 

Because humanity's too busy drinking their lattes or energy drinks they are failing to see King's extraordinary prophetic warnings and he is NOT happy!

A rude awakening is coming to this nation according to the Bible. People who have not been paying attention are in for a great shock! We are approaching the “Great Tribulation”. The Bible warns about what is just around the corner…but nobody is listening!

Militaries will try and rule the skies. America will announce a new ‘space program’. We will see navel battles. The ocean has yet to be conquered! All of this will bring new standards and world boundaries along with new naval technology. Big countries will fight for border definitions. World War 3 will be discussed!”

It's 2013 and UCG Still Cannot Figure Out the Purpose of the Church

While still on Worldwide Church of God payroll various ministers started meeting on the Pasadena campus to begin the formation of a breakaway COG.  Many of these men during the day were actively part of the WCG changes and disfellowshipped all kinds of people for not going along with the changes.  After destroying lives during the day they then would gather in various 360, 380 and 390 apartments to plot their new church. Most knew their jobs were at risk because of plummeting income (tithing was no longer commanded.)  In order to keep their lifestyle intact they needed another avenue of support.  What better way to ensure that than to boldly proclaim you were stepping out on faith in order to preserve the truth.  Gullible members would flock to them with their wallets open.

Once they had apostatized they set about establishing United Church of God.  Articles of incorporation were established, bylaws written and vision statements made.

UCG saw its self as a corporate church as

3.1 PURPOSE FOR THE CHURCH
God’s purpose for His Church is to prepare those willing to live His way of righteousness and self-control to function as His instruments in the administration of salvation to humanity, and to demonstrate His wisdom to His spiritual creation.

Apparently Melvin Rhodes was not happy with this statement and sought to change it.  He could only garner two present council members to support a change causing it to be shelved.

The Council then shifted to the proposed amendment about the purpose statement for the Church (Article 3.1). Several Council members expressed the need for amending its wording. To advance the amendment to the annual conference ballot requires the support of at least four Council members, but it received only two. This amendment will now be sent to the GCE where it will need at least 25 percent support to be placed on the annual conference ballot.

Now, in 2013, Melvin Rhodes has been banished in disgrace and the measure is up for consideration to change again.

In reference to a recently submitted, proposed amendment to Article 3.1 of the Constitution, some on the Council thought that a statement of concern was needed. On behalf of the Roles and Rules Committee Roc Corbett presented for Council’s consideration a proposed “statement of concern” as worded below.

Statement of Concern
Article 3.1 as currently worded does deserve some amending, and the Council agrees with the authors in this regard. We would like to thank the authors for bringing this to the attention of the Council and of the GCE. However, the wording in the proposed amendment is not a solution to the problem in the view of the Council. The proposal mixes concepts that are from the mission of the church rather than concisely defining the purpose for the church, therefore drifting from the intent of the Article as implied in the title.

The Council feels that the “Purpose of the Church” is such an important subject that it should be very well defined, and that the proposed amendment does not add clarity to this understanding.

You would think that with UCG being just a few years away from it's 20 anniversary of apostasy that they would have figured out the reason for their existence by now.

E.W.King: Adam, Eve, Noah and Jesus Were PURE 100% White

It has always been vitally important in the Churches of God that Adam and Eve, Jesus, and all the rest of the biblical characters be lily white in complexion.  How else can you substantiate the myth of British Israelism.

For many decades interracial marriage was prohibited in the Church of God.  Blacks and whites did not mix freely in worship services and black members were relegated to one or two Feast sites. People wanting to join the church had their marriages broken up if they were of different races. Blacks could not dance with whites at church dances.  Particularly if it was a black man and a white woman.  Tongues really started wagging then!

Various Armstrongite splinter groups decry the interracial marriage change in the church.  E.W. King is one of these.

E. W. King says that Noah was the most pure white man ever.  100% white, in intermarriage in that genetic strain!  No sirree!

It could only be eating improper food, drinking excessively of alcoholic drinks, revelings (Gal. 5:21), rioting, violence. Marrying, to be evil, had to be as in Genesis 6:2, when men "took them wives of all which they chose." There was rampant and universal interracial marriage--so exceedingly universal that Noah, only, was unblemished or perfect in his generations--his ancestry. He was of the original white strain.

It is amply evident that by the time of Noah there were at least the three primary or major racial strains on earth, the white, yellow and black, although interracial marriage produced many racial mixtures. 

God does not reveal in the Bible the precise origin of the different races. It is evident that Adam and Eve were created white. God's chosen nation Israel was white. Jesus was white. But it is a fair conjecture that in mother Eve were created ovaries containing the yellow and black genes, as well as white, so that some of the children of Adam and Eve gave rise to black, yellow, as well as white. 

King wants you to know that white is the chosen race but but yet is not superior?

The one man God chose to PRESERVE the human race alive after the Flood was perfect in his generations--all his ancestry back to Adam was of the one strain, and undoubtedly that happened to be white--not that white is in any sense superior. 

Interbreeding and intermarriage is the same in Kings eyes.  It dilutes and corrupts the pure race.

If you are a livestock breeder, planning to enter your prize animals in a livestock show--perhaps at a state or county fair--you will be sure to enter only thoroughbred or pedigreed stock! Mixing the breed alters the characteristics. 

It is still the fervent desire of many Armstrongite groups that in their fantasy world tomorrow that the black races will all be shipped back to Africa where they will live together and the whites will stay in the U.S., England, New Zealand, Canada and a few other choice locations.

World Tomorrow Men Will Rule, Women Not So Much If At All

Remember how we were taught the story on how when we are resurrected as gods that we would be rulers of worlds?  Remember HWA's power charts on leadership?

Here is a reminder.  Pay attention to HWA's wording at the end.  Women get the short shift again which was conveniently glossed over in all my years in the organization.  Have you ever noticed that Armstrongism is all about power?  Power over others by forced rule.  Law vs grace. Law vs freedom.

Apparently HWA saw nothing wrong with the fact that 2000 years have went by and humanity has increased in education and knowledge, yet Moses will be instructing the world how to run their governments according to the Egyptian style from 2,000+ years ago.  Elijah will be whipping churches and educational institutions into shape according to the methods of education 2,000+ years ago.  Since most were uneducated and illiterate, its sure going to make for an interesting world tomorrow!

King David, resurrected, immortal, under Moses, over all twelve nations of Israel. Jeremiah 30:9; Ezekiel 34:23-24; 37:24-25. Each of the original twelve apostles will be king, under David, over one of these then super-prosperous nations. Matthew 19:28. Under the apostles, each now king over a great nation, will be the rulers over districts, states, shires, counties or provinces, and over cities.

These will be the true COG members who qualified.  They treated people like crap all their lives, yet will be given cities to rule over.  Spare us please!

But what of all the Gentile nations? Who will be given top positions of rule over them? There is strong indication - not a definite, specific statement -but indication, according to principles and specific assignments that are revealed, that the Prophet Daniel will be made king over them all, directly under Moses. 

It seems evident, that Joseph will be made director of the world’s economy - its agriculture, its industry, its technology, and its commerce - as well as its money and monetary system. These systems will be on the international level, the same in every nation.

Joseph will be teaching the worlds economies how to function according to Egyptian desert life?

Job will be in charge of restoring the destroyed cities of the world.  Apparently this is because his entire family and household was destroyed and he had to rebuild it.  The lengths the Church went to "prove" this kind of malarkey is appalling!

Christ, Himself, will be ruling from Jerusalem. Stationed there with Christ, under immediate direction of Elijah, it is indicated, will be those changed to Spirit chosen by Christ to constitute the Headquarters Church. Revelation 3:12 indicates those of this " Philadelphia ” era will be pillars in that Headquarters Church. Next, in this all-important Headquarters Church organization, working with and directly under Elijah, it appears, will be the resurrected John the Baptist. He came “in the power and spirit of (Elijah)” Luke 1:17. Of him, Jesus said, “Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist ...” Matthew 11:11. He was the Elijah prophesied to come. Matthew 17:10 -13; and 11:7-11.

Jesus Christ is going to have his hands full if HQ leaders of the different COGs all converge on Jerusalem. The corruption, greed, back stabbing and outright criminal activity will make for one super colossal HQ!  Will  Jesus Christ be kept out of the loop like they did with HWA?

Someone may ask, “What about the women?” Yes, there were outstanding women- Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel. There were Miriam, Deborah, and others. Sarah is called the mother of righteous women in the New Testament I Peter 3:6. Deborah actually judged, or ruled  Israel for a time. Their status in the Kingdom will be the same as men. We would certainly suppose that women such as these will be given high position and great honor in the Kingdom. But we do not presume, in this present writing, to suggest what it shall be.

Poor, dumb women.  Its better to keep you barefoot and pregnant than to have you rule over the men of the church or the world.

Doesn't this stuff sound incredibly silly now that you are no longer part of the myths of Armstrongism?

The reason I spend a little time on the blog and continue to do so is the simple fact of trying to help bring Ron and the Weinland Clan all the way down. They need to be eliminated to a point where NOBODY IS SENDING THEM ANY MONEY.

What I saw in court was enough to make anyone sick. What he does is wRONg, wRONg, wRONg!!! As I stated to Mike before just get one person out and then another will follow and another. It will be an exhausting and tedious task but I am sure followers are looking at this blog. We have witnessed this. I think Ron himself may look at the blog. If not he may have others keeping an eye out. Who knows? What else does he have to do all day? He obviously knows this blog is out there and cast some type of voodoo magical spell on people here which has not worked. Better luck next time, ya fire breathing fool!! I think the average person would look if there was a blog about them.

I want to see a huge injustice fixed just as everyone else here does. The IRS could only fix part of Ron’s overall fraudulent scheme. The IRS may have been a crippling blow to Ron but who knows what amount of money he has stashed or what amount continues coming in. You can assume it is being closely watched. The overall opinion of Ron with the jurors? It would be fair to say that he is looked at as a con-artist scumbag that should have had more charges brought upon him and his Clan. My opinion is that they should ALL be sitting in prison. Wife, daughter, son, elders and ALL! YOU PEOPLE ARE REPULSIVE TRASH.

Dave Pack Gloats That Virtually ALL Former and Splinter COG members Will Join His Group Within 1-2 Years!

After a long dry spell the apostle Dave is back gloating about what a magnificent Church he leads.  It has been a great year for the TRUE Christians in the RCG who God favors highly while punishing the pagan filth around the rest of the world. RCG members are set apart from the evil hitting the world right now because they are soooooooooooooooo special.  The called out ones, the chosen few, the elite, the future rulers of space worlds and gods to be.

The year 2012 is now behind us. What a wonderful year it was for God’s Church. Sadly, it was the worst year on record for all nations of Earth. The masses are frightened as never before about what lies in store for the world—and themselves. Sadly, few understand and almost no one is preparing for the “snare” that Jesus Christ warned of in Luke 21:35 that will “come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.” The result will be that few will “escape all these things” (vs. 36) that Jesus described. Millions in the world, but also many of God’s people, think they are “spiritually prepared,” yet will soon wish they had been more careful—more thoughtful—about their spiritual condition.

All of those foolish COG groups that split off and formed irrelevant groups like United Church of God, Living Church of God and Philadelphia Church of God have absolutely NO fruit to show for their apostasy.  Only Dave has had mind numbing growth unparalleled in the COG universe!

The organizations (small, medium and large) that formed from the Worldwide Church of God in the wake of the apostasy grew very little or in most cases not at all in 2012! In fact many, or even most, declined in size, and in virtually all well-established categories of measuring fruit. Ironically, these organizations each month post their Member Letters before the whole world on their websites in hopes that such “trolling” for members will yield growth. (Why else would one address a letter to one set of people and then send it to everyone else?) But, with God having supplied no fruit to back up their organizations—since He is not leading them—the growth never comes. How is it that they are not embarrassed—ashamed—to post such hollow letters?

I  am, sure Dave is cowering in his shoes right now with the prospect of prophet Thiel's new group. Whats with the "trolling" accusation? That is certainly rich coming from a church that has bragged about the ministers and members they have stolen from UCG and others recently.

But we DO have the fruit—TREMENDOUS fruit!—that the other organizations lack. This is because we also DO have God’s leadership, having Christ as the Head of the Church. Hence the reason for only ONE letter annually like this one written to the splinters—not also written to members and co-workers! Our single goal is to show the fruit of God’s Spirit and leadership at work here to those who care—for those who want to know what they are missing.

Dave stupidly feels that there are thousands and thousands of confused COG members out there looking for a new group to go to.  Never fear, Dave is here!  Dave is ready to welcome all of the disillusioned into his group with open offering envelopes waiting.

Today, literally thousands of former WCG members are wondering where to attend—what to do. While some no longer care about the doctrines, traditions, standards—and fruit—of an organization, many still do. These brethren would be carefully examining available options, looking for what they were taught and once enjoyed under Mr. Armstrong’s leadership of the Church. They know these things are visible only to those looking for them! Understanding Christ is not divided, and that all who are led by God’s Spirit will ultimately walk in truth, and “speak the same thing” (I Cor. 1:10, 13), they become candidates to find the one place where Jesus Christ is truly the Head of His unified Church and Body.

The delusional idiot then goes on to quote all kinds of statistics on his amazing cult.  Then he gets into the new cable stations he will soon be broadcasting on. He naively assumes that his viewing audience is going to increase by the millions  because of the number of subscribers. The multiple missions of viewers he is claiming as his own will NEVER watch his idiotic program!

Looking ahead in 2013, an immensely powerful worldwide expansion of The World to Come approaches! In fact, here comes TREMENDOUS NEWS! We are finalizing plans to be on two—TWO!—more television networks: (1) The Word Network—and on January 24!!!—with satellite broadcasting coverage in well over 200 countries and territories, including all of North and Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, Australia, the Middle East and all of Asia. (2) Grace TV—set to begin February 17—which reaches over 70% of all Canadian households! To maximize impact, we chose an overnight time slot in the U.S., which airs during the morning hours in Europe and South Africa, and through the prime evening hours across Australia and the Far East.

Dave then moves on to talk about dramatic "healings" happening in his group.  It is quit obvious reading these that there are no healings going on in any of the splinter groups.  That is the impression Dave is trying to get across.

He has had blind people given sight, wheelchair bound people walking again.  These pale in comparison to a church member who was in a head on collision that did not injure them because the van "passed through" their vehicle.

While carpooling home from services two members were miraculously protected. A van suddenly appeared directly behind them, traveling at such a high rate of speed that a collision was unavoidable. As the van made contact with their rear bumper, instead of hearing a loud crash, they heard what they described as a “swoosh.” The van had passed through their car, appearing immediately in front of them! The van continued speeding down the road and then exited the highway, leaving the two ladies unharmed and the vehicle completely unscratched. On a personal note, this event mirrors exactly miracles both Mr. Dale Schurter and I have experienced and reported to the Church.

Then to top it off Dave brags that he was able to turn a tornado away from the entire city of Wadsworth so that it went on to kill and damage others. He also claims to have the power to have turned Hurricane Sandy by 90 degrees so that it would not make its way into Wadsworth!  When pigs fly!

Finally, at Headquarters we often read of God protecting His people around the world from storms, wildfires, flooding, hurricanes and other weather disasters, but in the relatively peaceful area of northeast Ohio, there seemed not to be the same need for intervention. Tuesday, July 3, was an exception. Just after 11:00 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Wadsworth and surrounding areas. Doppler radar showed a giant storm cell capable of producing a tornado heading directly toward the city from the northwest. Minutes later it became more serious when an official tornado warning was given, meaning a tornado in the area was visible on radar—and only 10 miles from Headquarters and the building project, moving straight toward us. All HQ employees moved to the basement as the storm continued on its projected path. There, I asked for God’s protection over His people through the dangerous storm, and that He would protect the present Headquarters building and the site of the future campus, acknowledging that it is God whom we ultimately rely on for protection. It soon became evident that God had at that moment intervened. Right after the prayer, the HQ staff saw that the storm (via radar online) had dramatically changed direction—during the prayer!—from its southeasterly course to nearly due south, and then later turned again to continue moving easterly to the south of Wadsworth. The city was entirely untouched by the tornado! We received only a little rain. Two staff members (who were off-site meeting with people involved in the construction project) actually witnessed the tornado from the west side of town as it turned south to go under the city. Of course, everyone was tremendously inspired to see God’s clear hand of intervention for His people and Work. It was truly faith-building. So was watching Hurricane Sandy suddenly turn 90 degrees north while still in Pennsylvania without which turn there would have been enormous damage to our new building. This is because the storm was coming from the east where the installed glass was not ready for it on the building’s west side.

Yes sir!  God is Only on Dave's side.  Those pussy evangelists in Edmond and Charlotte cannot produce such miracles as Big Dave can!  Big Dave can also wrestle with demons and cast them out too!

None of this speaks to regular dramatic healings, demons cast out, many miracles, open doors, blessings and incredible GROWTH in all categories.

Dave then goes on to claim his church within the next 1-2 years will be the largest and most effective church of God ever.  Thousands upon thousands of former member will be returning to it.  Eventually every single COG member who still has God's spirit in them will be leaving their group and coming to Dave's. 

An unbelievably powerful Work is underway in The Restored Church of God. This is because we did not break the grand pattern set by Mr. Armstrong—any of it! It is because Jesus Christ actually does HEAD this Church. In one to two years maximum, the profile of God’s Church and true Work on Earth will be beyond imagination. It will take your breath and leave your ears ringing. The good news is that more ministers and members are leaving ALL of the splinters to return to God’s one Church. Eventually ALL with God’s Spirit—every single person—will return to His Church. To see more and more people waking up to the false doctrine, wrong standards, poor fruits and continually worsening condition of their organizations has been most encouraging. Many thousands will join us! (In fact, prophecy reveals this.) This means our power, impact and growth will be further affected upward. We expect to be the largest presence—the loudest voice!—in religious television in the world some time in 2014. And this will be backed up by the largest amount of literature ever compiled by any single organization on the face of the earth.
