2,000,000 and Counting!

Who would have ever dreamed that this blog would garner over 2,000,000 hits!  We all knew about the silliness of Armstrongism, but when it is pointed out in black and white (and color) it is glaringly obvious on just how sick it all was and still is.

I wonder if more people are regulars here than in all the Armstrongist churches of God.

Probably.

Congrats! Clearly the detractors would have to concede the fact that this site is a tremendously valuable resource. How many promising blogs have we watched just wither away in the past?

As an aside, loving humor, I had once considered setting up an Onion or National Lampoon styled site satirizing Armstrongism. The problem became that the people who consider it to be true religion have, through their own outrageous ideas and activities, done a far better job of that than I could have hoped to do in my wildest dreams. The funniest part is that they seem to feel that they are preserving and furthering it!

BB: I never started this blog out of maliciousness or bitterness. I'm not bitter and it has never been part of my personality. It's more of a comedy routine than anything else. It does not take long -just a few clicks-and I find some asinine thing a COG leader or member has said or done. These emasculated men say and do things because they think they can get away with it because HWA did decades ago. The internet has been one bug bitch slap to these morons. Now everything the do or say is open to scrutiny.

When Dennis and I talk we laugh more than anything else at how incredibly dumb these guys are. It's been a fun ride so far and will certainly get crazier as Pack and Flurry's groups implode. Thiel is a theological idiot that deserves to be mocked. Pack was publicly humiliated and held accountable by this blog and others. I can't wait to see what craziness is next!

Yeah, most of my bitterness and anger issues have been healed a long time ago, too, Gary. In spite of a couple of wasted decades, I did somehow go on to have a better than average life. There are many times, though, when I just don't understand why Armstrongism still has a certain amount of traction, and some still find it credible. I can laugh at all of the foolishness, but still find myself becoming angry when I learn that more people are being victimized and hurt by the splinter groups.

The current Sabbatarian COG community totals no more than 30,000 en toto. This is counting man, woman and child, independents, splinter groups etc.

This means that in the history of this blog, (on average) every single person in the current COG has visited this page SIXTY SEVEN TIMES!

Fact of the matter is that probably only 20% of the COG has ever visited this blog at all, which means that of those that have, have viewed this blog more than 300 times EACH!

Banned must be considered a major political and informational source in the COG as a result. Right or wrong, Banned does provide a source of news and information as an "alternative press"

Congratulations, No2HWA.

Thank you for giving us all such a wonderful resource to keep up with news among the COGs.

What keeps people enslaved in Armstrongism is fear of condemnation. This is a religion that is based on fear and negativity. Some are just hanging-on and waiting for the second coming of J.C.. The sad part is that they are just wasting their lives doing that.

This blog and others like it are an open forum that is helpful in exposing Armstrongism for what it is and helping people to see that there is a life outside of this harmful religion.

Connie is correct in how many are repeat visitors. I have approximately 23,967 times myself..lol

I would imagine that each individual who knows this site shares info with any number of others who won't do it at this point in their lives. It still has a far reaching and perhaps unknowable influence on the ebb and flow of the COG's.

I bet the site has cost the COG's a lot of not given tithese and offerings or at least greatly reduced

Good for you, Banned!

The humor, and the shared experiences of others, are a great way to gain perspective on the worst mistake I ever made. I don't think I could make a worse one no matter what choices I make the rest of my life. I thank God that my parents witnessed my departure and I had several years to be with Mom (whose gravesite I visited last Sunday, Mother's Day) without that obstacle in between.

A friend of mine who works in the Cults Research realm has told me that it IS a puzzle, even to experts and scholars, that cults persist, even after a debacle like Pack had late last summer. Still, it's easy to imagine I might run into someone I know, maybe a Flurryite (there were quite a few here in Chicago in the early 90s), and hearing him say, "You'll see! You'll see we were right when the end comes!"

Right about what? What is there at this late date they could be "right" about? But if you're someone who will still browse through 1975 IN PROPHECY (readily available at the various lit preservation sites) because "there's some truth in it still," well .... Hey, look at the TITLE, your poor fools!

Great to share with you all.
