Was He Right?

The various Churches of God are having fits right now over Britain's decision to free themselves from the European Union.

From Flurry, to Pack to Meredith and even the boy's in Cincinnati Church of God leaders are whipping their members into frenzy that England's departure from eh European Union is a sure sign of prophecy that has finally come true for Herbert Armstrong.  Now with England pulling out it gives Germany more empower, and as any good Armstrongite knows, Germany is the big bad meanie that will soon be storming the United States, and Canada killing millions as they string us up on meat hooks and take our youth to Germany and Europe to be slaves for the European elite. This will open the door for the Pope to reunite Europe and begin to wage war on the saints and ultimately Jesus himself.

James Malm, the Chief Pharisees and Judaizer has this to say:

One very serious consequence of British departure will be the probability of other nations following suit and also exiting the EU.  The British departure appears to be the beginning of an unraveling of the present EU system.
This has been foreseen and Germany, France and certain other nations have already begun to form the core of a new federal Europe system.  Ultimately it will take the intervention of a very impressive miracle working pope to bring about the birth of a new federal European system based on the Holy Roman Empire model.
Scripture tells us that when this miracle worker is set up he will visit the Holy Place within 75 days triggering the onset of the biblical great tribulation (Mat 24:14).
The 75 days comes from the simple subtraction of the 1260 days of the tribulation from the total time that this man functions (Daniel 12:12), being 1,335 days.  This man of sin is set up doing miracles and has 1,335 days to function, after which he is destroyed by the coming of Christ.  Jerusalem being trodden down, including the tribulation and the Day of the Lord lasts for 1,260 days (Rev 11:2, Dan 12:6-7) and ends with the coming of Christ; now subtracting 1,260 from 1,335 days leaves 75 days between the time he is set up doing miracles and the date that the tribulation begins.
Watch as:
1.  The regional Mideast wars play out and a peace deal is agreed,  2.  The present EU unravels  3.  A pope is empowered to do miracles [highly probably as quickly as Sep Oct 2017, or within a year or two thereafter] and immediately uses his influence to bring together a new federal Europe of ten nations  4.  He goes to the Temple Mount within 75 days of being set up doing miracles, and the tribulation begins.
When peace is declared then sudden [unforeseen] destruction will immediately fall on the unrepentant (1 Thess 5:3).
NO!  There will NOT be any 3 1/2 years AFTER peace is declared BEFORE the tribulation begins!!
The tribulation will begin immediately [within a day or so] when this son of perdition goes to the Holy Place (Mat 24:15)!

Almost Arrested Elisha Elijah Amos Bitter Bob thiel has this to say:

While Franklin Graham considers the Brexit vote “at least a temporary setback for” a one-world government,” that is really not the case. Last night, I told my wife (when the initial results showed the REMAIN side winning last night) that a LEAVE vote meant the end was sooner and the REMAIN vote meant that the end (meaning the start of the Great Tribulation) would be later.
Why?
Because biblically, the UK was not prophesied to be part of the final Beast power. The UK was never part of the Eurozone, hence its voted for departure from the European Union (EU) does not mean that the Beast’s currency will be derailed.
The Bible tells the rise of a European Beast power in Revelation 13:1-10. It also teaches that reorganizations will occur in Europe for that to happen:
12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)
The vote by the UK to leave the EU will get the Europeans closer to a time of crisis that will get Europe to reorganize and fulfill the above prophecy.

This Brexit vote marks a time of change. We are in the time that Jesus referred to as the “beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:4-8) and more troubles are expected:
8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows.  (Mark 13:8)
Expect to see violent civil unrest in Europe, for a time.
Gerald Flurry's Philadelphia Church of God is crowing:

Herbert W. Armstrong used scripture to show that Britain would leave the EU before I was born, and God’s people have been watching for this exact event ever since. But I’m not going to give you any scriptures here—that isn’t the point. I want you to go read Mr. Armstrong’s own words—words that accurately predicted this day would happen. Go find a map, spread it out on your floor, draw the line, and create an experience with The United States and Britain in Prophecy that will have a real impacton your life—not in a week or a month, but now while Brexit is still fresh in your mind.
The thing is, this singular moment in history shows that the entire narrative in The United States and Britain in Prophecy is true. Mr. Armstrong said, “This very eye-opening, astounding identity is the strongest proof of the inspiration and authority of the Holy Bible! It is, at the same time, the strongest proof of the very active existence of the living God!”
You see, The United States and Britain in Prophecy was, in large part, a warning. The decline of the Israelite nations that Mr. Armstrong warned about is already in full swing—yet the worst lies just ahead. That book stands as a warning for me, for you, for everyone who was ever in God’s Church, and for the five million people who requested it over the years. The darkest, most intense correction in history is the next step in these prophecies.
Mr. Armstrong wrote: “Most people, we know only too well, will take this serious warning lightly—put it out of mind—turn to other immediate interests of no importance by comparison! That is why a loving, just, all-wise, all-powerful God is going to take away from them these unimportant counter-interests, and apply such intensified correction that they shall, finally, come to their senses, and turn to Him and His way which will bring them eternal happiness and abundant blessings!
“But you need not have to suffer this intensified correction, greater than any trouble ever suffered by humans.
“By God’s direction and authority, I have laid the truth before you! To neglect it will be tragic beyond imagination! To heed it will bring blessings, happiness and glory beyond description!
“The decision is now yours!”
Dave Pack has a brief statement up encouraging readers to request his US and BC book to learn the full facts:

In addition, analysts predict that Britain’s departure from the EU would push Germany to take on a more dominant position in Europe.
None of this news should come as a surprise for regular readers of The Real Truth. We have always held the belief that a UK-EU divorce was coming and informed readers to watch for an emerging Germany.
The July 2015 article “Britain and the EU: Headed for a Split?” included a telling quote from Mr. Cameron taken from a speech on the in-out referendum: “I know that the United Kingdom is sometimes seen as an argumentative and rather strong-minded member of the family of European nations.
“And it’s true that our geography has shaped our psychology.
“We have the character of an island nation—independent, forthright, passionate in defense of our sovereignty.
“We can no more change this British sensibility than we can drain the English Channel.”
It is this sensibility—Britain’s national character—that has kept the country from fully integrating with the EU. But that character runs deeper, and carries a longer history, than most realize.
Living Church of God is trotting out John Oqwyn's nonsense:

Catastrophic economic and social collapse will set the stage for soon-coming prophesied events. The once-powerful British Empire is already but a shadow of its former glory, and the U.S.—beset by economic, political and social upheavals—is no longer unchallenged as a world superpower. There was a time when God indeed used the American and British-descended nations to lead, inspire—and even to police—the world. But that time is quickly drawing to a close. Nations that use the name of God while rejecting His commandments cannot continue to receive His blessings. Rather, He will break the pride of their power (Leviticus 26:19).
To fill this vacuum of leadership, there will suddenly emerge onto the world scene a powerful and charismatic leader in Europe. In alliance with a religious leader who will ignite an emotional mass hysteria through what the scripture terms “lying wonders” (2 Thessalonians 2:9), this military-political leader will use deceit to achieve great power. He will lead a revived Holy Roman Empire, called in Scripture “Babylon the Great” (Revelation 17; 18).
This European union of church and state will promise universal prosperity and will exercise worldwide economic dominance for a short while. Ezekiel 27, using the figure of the ancient commercial city of Tyre, speaks of this global economic combine, which will include nations of Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia—along with Israel and Judah (v. 17). Portions of Ezekiel 27 are paraphrased or quoted in Revelation 18 where the end-time system, called Babylon the Great, is described.
The English-speaking nations will not prosper for long in connection with this system, however. In fact, they will ultimately be overpowered and destroyed by it militarily. Prior to military attack and occupation, devastating weather problems, combined with internal civil strife (“tumults in her midst” cf. Amos 3:9) will bring our nations to the point of internal collapse.

All any of this proves is that even a blind squirrel can eventually find its nuts.

Except they were wrong about the EU entirely. They were crowing at the institution of the Eurozone as a prophetic sign too, and now the current EU is in crisis and none of their predictions or timetables have come to pass. As the EU's decline has become increasingly apparent in recent years, COG wingnuts have been scrambling to rewrite their prophetic pronouncements to declare that a different, better, more Armstrong-y version of the EU complete with Beast Power Mode is on the horizon. Problem is, the Brexit won't lead to that either. If anything, it's more likely to lead to a fractured UK where Scotland and Northern Ireland jump ship to stay in the EU, which doesn't really play well with the COG's British-Israelist intellectual garbage fire. And that's assuming Britain actually leaves at all. The vote is non-binding and it will take years to initiate and complete a Brexit anyway -- lots could change in the interim. Trying to predict a straight path amid chaos is futile.

Those splinters you quote all left out a very important part of Herbert (the W. stands for nothing) Armstrong's prophecy: that this would all happen before the "push button world of 1975."

Even when he's right, he's wrong. Sorry, Gerald.

What struck me was Herbie's quote of "eternal happiness and abundant blessings." Where was, and is this in any of the churches? Members are oppressed by being robbed of their rights and adulthood by the Mafia ministers. This is rather abundant cursings.

Ahhhh, what a total crock.

The biblical scribes no more cared about what would happen 2500 yrs later than you or I care about what's going to happen in the year 4500.

Not to mention that China, from henceforth to be a crucial major world player, is neither mentioned nor hinted at. It's not the bible writers' fault of course, they just didn't know the land of China existed. (A god should have, however.)

Although Michael, a 200 million man army in Revelation coming from the east does hint at a rather large nation or population of nations. The world population was estimated at 500mil for centuries. Not sure how long that. As far as EU, one pundit did say that nations had no power to go against the say of unelected officials, hints of a dictatorship. Listen to Condell's rant two weeks ago, interesting stuff the EU vis a vis the UK.

This is great news for these groups. It diverts attention away from the appalling abuse and darkness that has enveloped them.It diverts attention away from falling membership and income. For their failure to do a "Work" of any impact outside of their "church culture".This "event" on the world stage does not give them any more legltlmacy.

"Oh," the Armstrongists never tire of saying, "he was right...just a little off on the timing."

Brexit can mean only one thing for Armstrongism: a rash of new soon-to-fail predictions as every self-declared prophet from orthodox Meredith to loonybin Dankenbring tries to pin yet another timetable tail onto Herbert Armstrong's long-since-falsified prophetic donkey.

I wonder how many congregations will be singing "It won't be long now" at services tomorrow.

Jokes aside anyone who boasts this new development obviously doesn't understand world politics. I can't claim a vast understanding myself but I know we'll enough to know that it will take years to implement and as someone else pointed out this vote is non-binding. Anyone who boasts British-Israelis in general needs to dig a little deeper in their history and science books to know this theory has zero merit whatsoever.

Let's completely forget, for the moment, everything HWA and the ACOGs ever taught, or teach. What will most likely happen in the near future as consequences of the British exit from the European union?

The EU is in trouble right now, because 1) Other member nations are also chafing under their losses of national culture and sovereignty. There is currently a move towards greater nationalism, meaning that additional nations could depart. 2) So long as Britain remains an ally, the EU may not need to replace the missing items that the Brits have brought to the party. They just won't be as close. These include a strong military presence, a standard of international currency, and a general stabilizing influence. 3) There will be other weak member nations, besides Greece and perhaps Spain, that experience financial instability, with one less strong nation to take up the slack. 4) The prosperity that Britain enjoyed as a by product of being an insider of a trade conglomerate may diminish. This has been compensating for their own decline as an empire, their own loss of the nations which they dominated and had as controlled trade partners.

During this, the post-christian era, it is doubtful that the Catholic Church will regain any sort of influence that would lead to a Herbert W. Armstrong scenario. It is much more likely that the Islamic faith, waging international jihad, will be gaining influence through the types of conquest originated by Mohammed. There has been much speculation as to which European nation would become Islamified first. Spain was once dominated by the Moors, who were Islamic, so there is a precedent. The Catholic Church is on the wane, while Islam is on the upswing.

Lastly, while Britain may be seceding from the EU, it is not leaving NATO, and will be continuing to have a strong presence in that very powerful peace-keeping organization. It is also not ceding its rolls and veto power in the UN. So, with Britain no longer being a favored trade partner of the EU, the other nations, particularly Germany, may not necessarily need to strengthen their military forces, because they are not truly losing the Brits as a defense partner.

Economically speaking, the UK is actually smaller than California, New York, and Illinois. Undoubtedly, the Brits will continue to purchase goods and services from other European nations, as they will from China, India, and Japan. They are not being lost as a consumer, and they have not been expelled as some sort of enemy. If new dynamics must now be established by the other EU partners, these will no doubt require years to be implimented. It is way premature for any Armstrongites to be establishing new timelines for the unfolding of their prophecies. Brexit is by no means a lock or a validation. This is not a silver bullet for the ACOGs, and does not constitute the reversal of the failure of the Armstrong prophecy mold.

The quote from Flurryland says:

" . . . I’m not going to give you any scriptures here — that isn’t the point. I want you to go read Mr. Armstrong’s own words . . . ."

What writings are MOST important? Not those believed to be from God, but those from this man whose illusion of greatness still holds these poor people captive.

All the perversion the man perpetrated, all the suffering he caused, is ignored in favor of something, it just so happens, seems to jibe with something he said -- that no one remembers but those who worship him. Eeesh!

'Scuse me, I think I need to throw up.

Didn't Armstrongites think that when Germany reunited 30 years ago that the end would come soon. They where wrong! The truth is false prophecy is used by religious leaders to control and abuse the sheep. How sad. The truth is that no person knows what is going to happen in the future. If there is a God he would certainly make prophecy very clear to us rather then the very vague writings in a book that was written a few thousand years ago.

Comment was made that: "The various Churches of God are having fits right now over Britain's decision to free themselves from the European Union."

Well, all they have is Milk (basic doctrines, e.g. Hebrews 6) and Junk Food (Fear Religion with False Prophecies)...and absolutely no strong spiritual Meat worth anything.

There is a problem with their fits, though. They need to be careful that they don't spill that Milk and Junk Food all over themselves! It's very embarrassing, as we all know.

Not a one of them can identify the Beast. None of them can identify them 10 horns, 10 kings, 10 nations...aka the Beast.

Not only that, but those 10 won't even exist until Satan is loosed from the so-called bottomless pit. So, why have all of them fits?????????

Their timing is all out of whack! Go back and re-sturdy the scriptures!!!

They are all blind and every passing day they prove that to us. Time does tell us!

What do we see? The effects of the blind. They are like a bunch of blind squirrels!

"Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." Matthew 15:14

Even a blind squirrel will avoid ditches.

The post concluded by saying: "...All any of this proves is that even a blind squirrel can eventually find its nuts..."; however, I might add: "...unless it is a DEAD blind squirrel," which all of these xcog leaders act like with their empty words. We're all getting tired of being lied to, but it is allowed for now.

Why are they all so blind? They can't all be part of the Churches of God (unless they are described in Revelation 2-3), whether they are some GREATER Churches of God, or not. There is too much blindness and confusion. Who authors confusion? Some beast? Some subtle beast of the field? Or, do they just do it to themSELVES?

What is their future IF WE JUST LET THEM ALONE??? It's very simple. In context, read the previous verse of Matthew 15.

"But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath NOT planted, SHALL BE ROOTED UP."

That process of rooting up is an ongoing one...and time will tell, but in the meantime there will be lots of spilt milk and junk food spewed out upon us...

"Gilligans Island in Prophecy"

Byker Bob said...

You've got to know that on Friday morning, the people who have invested their entire lives in the Armstrong prophecy mold literally leapt from their beds, and before even taking care of their 3 S's, went outside to grab the morning paper, turned on the TV or radio, or got on the 'net with a sense of Pavlovian attunement to their master's voice! Bob Thiel probably gazed lovingly at his portrait of the baron, Steven Flurry most likely began work on an update to "Raised from the Ruins", Rod Meredith may have actually forgotten his insulin, and David Pack perhaps began outlining a new, urgent "Clarion Call" sermon instructing his remaining members to now even max out their credit cards to send him the money!

The major problem with operating on the basis of emergency, or with an irrational sense of urgency, is that people fail to analyze the emergency, or to take into account the time element which all events require to process themselves. This failure is why HWA taught that Hitler was the Beast, and that WWII would culminate in Armageddon and the return of Jesus Christ. It is why, after learning a bit from that failure, he selected (with the aid of his three newly developed math equations) the dates of 1972-75. It is why members thought the end imminent when the USSR collapsed, and the two Germanies united. Now, with Brexit, some probably anticpate immediate ground breaking for the temple in Jerusalem, and the election of Pope Sixtus the Sixth.

Most members probably don't even notice or care that random events from HWA's prophecy mold are happening out of sequence with the timelines, at a snail's pace, defying the very urgency with which they were always preached. I certainly hope that nobody is actually taking massive loans out on their credit cards to fund the Brexit "gun lap". I understand that those would be difficult to pay from Social Security benefits, and some have already signed over their 401K's to Armstrongism.

Short of a well known media personality suddenly converting to Armstrongism, the ACOG infrastructure for "warning the world" will remain totally invisible. Credibility and visibility of the Armstrong movement would be deeply enhanced if suddenly all of the splinter leaders ditched their egos and pet theories, and reunited. Those two elements would require more of a miracle than the emergence of the beast, and the parsing of the 27 remaining members of EU down to ten. Armstrongites should ponder upon their own internal miracles that are required, before indulging in wild speculation based upon isolated events in the greater surrounding world.

Let’s give credit where credit is due!

It was always the Armstrong’s stated position that Great Britain would not be a permanent member of the European Union and the “Ten Kings”.

Whether or not Herbert Armstrong first coined the term, “United States of Europe” himself back in the late 1940s/early 1950s, he certainly gave the descriptive term international publicity through his mass worldwide radio broadcasts. Until yesterday, I hadn’t heard the term “United States of Europe” since my Radio/Worldwide Church of God days in the 1960s/1970s. The EU was referred to as “The United States of Europe” in a couple of news commentaries I read yesterday. I had to wonder to myself what influence Herbert and Garner Ted Armstrong’s broadcasts to the world referring to the coined term “United States of Europe” 45 to 50+ years ago might have had on the news commentaries I read yesterday.

So, for those keeping score of this extra inning game beyond the regulation innings of 1975 in Prophecy, the score is:

Herbert Armstrong Fulfilled Prophecy 1
Herbert Armstrong Failed Prophecies 209

Herbert W. Armstrong expected Britain either to leave the European Union or else get expelled from it. The June 23, 2016 BREXIT vote in which the people of the United Kingdom voted 52% to leave the EU and 48% to stay in the EU makes it look like HWA might have been right.

But, what about all those other guys you mentioned?

James D. Malm was just another nobody who left the WCG in 1985 while HWA was still alive to try to “think for himself.” His wife then got into that sacred names nonsense and divorced him, and James got into calendar confusion. Do not let Malm's Shiny Black Hole Blog suck your brains out through your ears.

Robert J. Thiel left the LCG to start his own Continuing Church of Confusion splinter group and declare himself to be a prophet. Rod Meredith had initially tried to humor Bob, and later gently tried to caution Bob against thinking of himself in terms that are “not realistic,” but the silly retard was heck-bent on going totally crazy. Bob's old Catholicism returned with a vengeance as he looked to demons and pagan prophecies for the answers. Do not let Thiel convert you to the dark side.

Gerald R. Flurry got fired from the WCG by the apostate Tkaches because even they could see that he had delusions of grandeur and was up to no good. Jules Dervaes had sent a copy of his writing called The Letter to Laodicea to about 700 WCG ministers, including Gerald Flurry. Rather than giving Jules any credit, Gerald and his buddy John Amos revised it and renamed it Malachi's Mess.. After half a dozen revisions, it now gets passed off as the “little scroll” that had been delivered by a “mighty angel” in the biblical book of Revelation.

Gerald started off his bait-and-switch scam by praising HWA, but then changed it to praising himself, and eventually made himself out to be “That Prophet” of Deuteronomy 18. The resulting exodus from the PCG caused him to sort of flip-flop a bit and admit that it was talking about the first coming of Jesus, but somehow he rambled on and kept for himself the title of “That Prophet” that he got from there and the idea that everyone had to listen to everything he said or else God would be mad at them.

Bumbling around in a drunken stupor, Gerald did not seem to realize for the first twenty years of his PCG scam that HWA had taught that the church was not led by a prophet, but rather by an apostle. Gerald then just took that title too, and deleted the stuff in HWA's last book called Mystery of the Ages that would expose his doctrinal changes. If you ever happen to look down and see little Gerald, remember to say, “Get thee hence, Satan,” or maybe just, “Scoot!” Do not let Flurry break up your family.

...continued from above.

David C. Pack got fired from the WCG by the Tkaches, and then fired from the GCG too while he was plotting against RCM, so he started his own Restored Cash Grab by pretending to be HWA's loyal follower. He started off by writing many booklets to convince people that he was serious about restoring what HWA had taught. He assured everyone that it was not all just a satanic trick because the Devil supposedly was lazy and would not go to all that trouble just to trick them in the end. Nevertheless, in the end, David deleted some of his own books and claimed that HWA was wrong about being the Elijah who was prophesied to come and restore all things.

After years of accusing Rod Meredith of secretly desiring to be the Elijah, David Pack claimed that he himself was obviously the Elijah. David deleted his own previous book about it that had proved that HWA was the Elijah.

After years of criticizing Gerald Flurry for claiming to be That Prophet, David Pack claimed that he himself was obviously That Prophet. David deleted his own previous book about it that had proved that Jesus was That Prophet.

David Pack's claim to greatness was the fact that he had “restored” the doctrine of “common,” which to his insatiably greedy mind meant that everything that everyone else had was now actually his, and his alone, and had to be sent in to him--“or no salvation if you don't.” If you ever happen to look up and see a towering psychopath leering down at you and lusting after your possessions, stand your ground. Do not let Pack lie to you, steal everything you have, leave you destitute, and then call you a “bum.”

Roderick C. Meredith from the start kept on minimizing the work that HWA had done and went on and on about how his own barley Living Crutch would do so much more and “shake the nations.”

Interestingly, Rod's little GCG/LCG splinter groups never had even one-tenth of the people that HWA's old WCG had at its peak.

Also interesting is the fact that the relatively few GCG/LCG members that Rod did have had come from the old WCG, even though from the start Rod always tried to say that brand new people who had never heard of HWA were joining his group.

In the end, Rod wanted everyone in the LCG to fast and pray that God would grant them even one-half of the 30% per year growth that the WCG used to have year after year under HWA. After all, even that would be much better than the 1% or 2% annual growth that they sometimes get between major splits.

Rod's so-called “doctrinal upgrades,” as he calls his doctrinal changes, seem to have brought a curse rather than a blessing. Rod's messing with the gospel might have brought the apostle Paul's double curse on himself. All those years of unsuccessfully trying to compete with HWA have left Rod old and shaking in his wheelchair. Do not let Meredith fool you into thinking otherwise.

You know, you folks should check the ambassador.report website once in awhile.

Check out Herbert Armstrong's Prophetic Record -- a much superior source to the 209 prophecies.

Next, for you morons who claim that Herbert Wolf Armstrong's timing was off, prepared to be terribly embarrassed by 1975 in Prophecy and forget even trying to make any more excuses.

Then if you're still convinced about the continuous history of the Church of God throughout the ages, peruse The Daughter of Babylon where the question of the Waldensians is settled once and for all.

Armstrongism is a cult. It has no viability. No one can trust anything Herbert Armstrong said. He was always wrong.

It seems that no one claiming to be a prophet prophesied the outcome of the British election. Just before the election even British LEAVE supporters thought REMAIN would win, and no prophet in the COGs seems to have dogmatically stated that LEAVE would win. The election was mentioned on The Trumpet website but Flurry & Co. didn't know, and as far as I know no one else knew. I suspect the COG "prophets" realized they had been burned before with predictions that didn't pan out so they were careful to equivocate this time. And then there's the Spin Zone: If REMAIN had won the spin would have been that we are getting closer, closer, ever closer to the time when Britain will exit the EU. Any outcome was bound to be spun in the direction the COGs want it to go. It may be that God told Herbert Armstrong things that no one else knew. Maybe world events are indeed moving in the direction which HWA predicted and they seem to be moving at a snail's pace only because we are living through them. But at this point it's all rather hazy, isn't it? Just the way it's been for a long, long time.
