Is A Church of God Able To Call Down Rain From Heaven?

The improperly named "continuing" Church of God is making the claim that one of its ministers in Africa was able to call rain down from heaven recently.  Almost arrested Elisha, Elijah, Amos, Joshua, Habakuk, prophet Bob Thiel is making that claim.

Miracle rain in Kenya
Pastor Dr Bob
Greetings from Kenya.
Today Alexander was praying for the rain in Kenya. After ten minutes the rain came from nowhere and rain. This is the miracle we seen when we are in Narok. He was feeling very bad when he saw how people were suffering in Kitengela Nairobi simply because of water. His prayer is answered. …
The self-appointed false propeht makes this claim:
Notice also the following:
17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. (James 5:17-18)
So the Bible clearly shows that prayer can affect the weather–and it just did in Kenya.
Dave Pack has been proclaiming that mass healings and mass conversions will happening in his church, but instead Elisha Thiel's personality cult is experiencing "healing" and mass conversions instead.

When we wanted to close, one old man stood up and testify that one of his ears had been bad and did not hear anything but when I was preaching, he testify that all his ears we opened miraculously.
I also met a Sunday pastor there who told me that I have to visit him in his place. So when I went, he took me to his meeting hall where I met all members. I met a total of 94 people and when I taught them about Sabbath and baptism, all of them turned their heart to keep Sabbath. And now they are Sabbathkeepers. One old lady insisted that I must baptize her tomorrow. … So tomorrow I will conduct baptism in MALAWI.
Mass conversions in the improperly named "continuing"Church of God?

Apostle Thiel then claims though his personality cult, the deaf can now hear, and the spiritually blind can now see.
So consider that we had the deaf who hear, the gospel being preached, and the spiritually blind who can now see (cf. Luke 7:22)!
It looks like God may have performed a miracle then, not only heal the man who could not hear, but to also get the Sunday pastor’s attention.
God is working and thankfully some can see that.

The thing that Bob Thiel doesn't realize is that his very name or presence associated with these events casts doubt upon them. He's got such a flaky aura about him, a penchant for hype, and presents very questionable credentials as if they are solid gold. Like most of the others in COGdom, he is a very impeachable witness.

December saw the normal 1.5 inches of rain and January 2017 was a about half and ince so a bit low but tis the season.

Weather is just weather and as sincere as one might be, humans don't pray down rain unless it is going to rain anyway. Job may have been challenged by the Bronze Age Deity; ""Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail" (Job 38:22)", (or rain, wind, thunder and lightening for that matter) and not known the answer, but we do today and it is not mystical or magical.

Just sayin'

"The average maximum daytime temperature in Kenya in January is a hot 32°C (90°F) with very high heat & humidity. There are usually 9 hours of bright sunshine each day, which represents 70% of the 12 hours of daylight. The average sea temperature in and around Kenya in January is 27°C (81°F).

Expect 29mm (1.1 inches) of rainfall across the whole of January with 5 days with some rain falling. Maximum UV levels will be extreme (11+ UV index) at midday when the skies are clear. The average night-time temperature is usually a warm 23°C (73°F). The weather in Kenya in January is represented by Mombasa."

The rainy season in Kenya is April

"Flooding as Kenya's Rainy Season Peaks

Flash flooding has hit Kenya during the last few days as the height of the rainy season unfolds.

Seven people were killed when they were swept up in a flash flood on Sunday as they walked in a national park, the BBC News website said.
Photos published by AP showed street flooding in Nairobi on Monday following cloudbursts that pelted the area.

The videos, published Monday, show flowing water impeding travel at a low-water crossing in Lodwar.

Weather data accessed by AccuWeather.com showed that downpours hit this rather dry region of Kenya on Monday.
Wednesday, renewed cloudbursts pounded Nairobi and other parts of Kenya. Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta Airport picked up 74 mm (2.9 inches) of rain within 24 hours which ended Wednesday.

AccuWeather.com forecasters believe that the weather in Kenya will stay favorable for localized torrential rain and flash flooding through at least the end of the week.

Nairobi and much of Kenya sees the peak of its rainiest season during April, a month prone to frequent showers and occasional drenching thunderstorms.

Ah. So apparently correlation DOES equal causation?

That is exactly why the vast majority of LCG members could not stand the guy. His egotistical hype was revolting to them. Even Rod Meredith finally woke up after a while when he released that Thiel thought of himself as a knowledgeable and grounded thinker and prophet. Many LCG members have written to me telling how creepy they felt when they were in his presence. He has no genuine authenticity that you can trust. That is why his sermons come off so creepy and ridiculous. There is no credibility factor. He might pull the wool over on his African followers but COG members are not taking the bite. He expects thousands of COG members to soon join his group, much like Dave Pack. They won't. That is a fact.

One can be thankful without the ascribing causation.

What if a Sorcerer's Apprentice situation arises? No, make it STOP raining!

Is this the Benny Hinn show?

And what follows is that the guy will ask tired Bob for money.

Please forward Thiel's name and post immediately to the "Man Made Climate Change Deniers" and any other multitude of governmental agencies.

He is obviously a man, and he "changed the climate". He needs to be muzzled therefore to stop any more of his co2 emissions originating from his prayers, and pay fines and damages for altering the climate without any governmental or international supervision.

I was talking to Satan just the other day, and I said, Satan, can you send some rain and beer and pizza? And he says sure, no problem. You are an evil jerk, says he, and I just love evil jerks--made in my own image! So the next thing I knew I turned around and there was a case of beer (cold too) and some hot pizza. And then I heard thunder and looked outside and it was raining! Holy poop! Satan is real! And he rewards those who serve him.

Personal testimonies are great! Proof of everything! Right?

I can't see god working because Bob's enormous confirmation bias is blocking my view.

The conversion story reminded me of something I read decades ago, possibly by HWA, about Andrew Dugger's COG in Jerusalem. The story mentioned a photo of a "tent meeting", showing people with their hands raised. The implication from the photo was that it was in response to an evangelical call to raise your hands if you "accept Jesus", or something to that effect. In reality, as I recall from the story, someone had actually asked, Who wants a cookie?

Man Made Climate Change Deniers

Bob sometimes acknowledges climate change, but he wasn't quite clear on man made ("anthropogenic") climate change. In one video, he considered whether a particular weather event was possibly due to climate change, but since meteorologists were uncertain it was probably a punishment. Since then, it looks like the call went to climate change.

And I'll never forget how HWA crowed that a hurricane course change caused it to miss Jekyll Island, but didn't appear concerned that it killed 17,000 people elsewhere.

The extract above the excrementometer contains a rather strong reference, Luke 7:22. In context, some disciples of John the Baptist ask Jesus if he is the Messiah, and Jesus tells them to tell John about the healings and preaching that have occurred. So, indirectly, Jesus told them yes.

Taken to an extreme, equating this to some reports of healings and conversions in Africa is a very bold. That’s what makes the next sentence in the post interesting: “It looks like God may have performed a miracle then…” So, why the element of doubt? Is this saying “something of Messianic significance happened, but maybe not”?

John the Baptist asking Christ whether He was the Messiah is sarcasm. John was asking Christ why hadn't He performed a miracle to release him from jail. John got his request when they chopped off his head. Asking release from character developing trials is not always wise.

John was one of those characters who had one mission in life. His disciples were asking if "Mission accomplished". If so, now what do we do?

And once again, one of Dennis's comments has been featured in a COGwriter post:

Sadly, many people do not believe the Bible or in rain miracles.

An apostate, former WCG minister (Dennis Diehl), posted this in response to me post Rain Miracle in Kenya?:

Weather is just weather and as sincere as one might be, humans don’t pray down rain unless it is going to rain anyway.

Those who actually believe the Bible have a different view. Apostates do not truly believe the Bible.
