Ummm...wow! Nothing at all about Jesus coming the first time, why He came, how and why He died, His resurrection, the fact that He now lives in those who believe...all that just...gone. Sounds like anti-Christ to me.

He actually said in another letter that if he mentioned or preached Christ he'd be thrown off his ass. (Didn't use that word. But that was the essence.)

So, when preaching to all the nations this "Gospel", he left out everything Jesus did, and accomplished, when He came the first time - as if it never happened. Herbert went on with his story about 6,000 years of mankind being cut off from God as if Christ's first coming had no power at all. It seems that in Herbert's mind, Christ was just a newsboy with a message that went out to the 12 apostles - and quickly died out a few years later in absolute weak hibernation - ONLY to be resurrected with Herbert Armstrong and HIS work - which now, we all know, had been reduced to shambles, and all who try fail miserably.

Herbert Armstrong REJECTED Jesus Christ when He came, Herbert rejected WHAT he Did, WHAT He accomplished, the fact he defeated the powers and the principalities and the rulers of the dark age, REJECTED the fact he fulfilled the Law, rejected the fact that he, then, when He first came, RECONCILED through his death and resurrection humanity to himself, absolutely diminished the entirety of the Holy Spirit, and made the Gospel a message about himself and a master plan that was concocted through the eyes of a man concocting a master plan himself. He always took everything spiritual and reduced it to the physical. He took the metaphors and analogies of the Lion and the Lamb, and it's powerful meanings in its day - and made it physical and literal - which is what he did with the style of speaking throughout the entire Old Testament - reading it and taking it physically and literally without the knowledge or ability to interpret the Old Testament in its proper allegorical context.

This snippet of what he said when he went to visit heads of states on the dime of his members simply shows the Gospel of Jesus Christ EMBARRASSED him. He used religion as a pretense of a business to his own satisfaction, fulfilling a desire of success and prosperity he has always had. And if any wish to dispute this, there are mountains of evidence to prove exactly this - like a 45,000 dollar meat service of sterling silver to a ten million dollar auditorium to serve worldly celebrities, and piles of evidence in between.

Yeah, I know many will disagree. Vehemently. That's OK. This is why this is a comment, and not an article.

By heart I gather this was the message when he got bestowed the honorary doctorate of philosophy in the Philipines.

If not, it was the message delivered to many (world) leaders at the time when the UN was gathering steam as a powerful tool of US foreign policy and the moral authority of the US was to be established as world police.

"Jesus" would sound prosetelyzing to catholic or communist nations. And wcg members would have read "Jesus" here at least 10 times since according to wcg philosophy jesus was the god of the ot or the bible for that matter. And for world leaders it would be the UN as the to be accepted authority versus godless communism in 1973. 1973 About the same time hwa shook hands with the leader of a nation having just 5 years before killed a million communists, whose quest to power backed by the cia. Later the entire former british empire would get the same message as the american empire stepped into the void in the battle versus that other empire a regular at the auditorium would later coin as "the evil empire". Did I mention sandinistas, ollie north, deng xiao ping?

I believe the bible teaches that the death, resurrection, and the return to the right hand of the Father of Jesus the Christ is history. It is the Holy Spirit not the living Christ that lives in those who believe. The living Jesus Christ is the one who will be returning to establish the Kingdom of God on earth. I believe the Holy Spirit is a guiding factor in our personal life and does not give us the qualification to judge another persons relationship with Jesus and God.

Very impressive. I don't recall HWA getting any way near as assertive in foreign countries during the 1980's. Did he actually tell the people of India that God was their creator and That God calls on all to repent and that he was going to send the Messiah/Christ to establish a kingdom and you have now heard it and will be held accountable for what you do with it?

That would be a perfect example for the one(s) who is given the responsibility to preach the gospel of the kingdom as a witness unto the whole world as a witness to follow when the time comes. Unfortunately HWA was not given that commission - he took it for himself just as all of the wanna-be splinters have done.

What's missing in this letter? Much, but on that day, the people of India that heard HWA speak certainly heard a message about the Kingdom of God.
