Should Philadelphian Christians Be Meta's? After All, It Could Be 666!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe

Imagine for a moment the African followers of the Great Bwana Bob Thiel and his improperly named "continuing" Church of God. Imagine walking 5 miles or more to attend sabbath services in a building with a tin roof with the hot sun beating down on it. Imagine sitting there and having to listen to this taped crap as the sermonette. Heck, imagine being one of his 304 caucasian members having to listen to this! Jesus doesn't give a shekel about this kind crap!

Metaverse: Metasurveillence 666?
In the Fall of 2021, Facebook changed its name to Meta. Microsoft’s Bill Gates and Meta’ s Mark Zuckerberg are pushing for something called the metaverse? What is ‘meta’? What is a metaverse? Will it be the next logical step in the computer world? Will it bring utopia? Will it instead more facilitate a dystopian world? Does any of this have possible ramifications of 666 control and surveillance? What about the prophesied coming famine of the word? Could Europe’s ‘European Public Prosecutor’s Office’ possibly have potential to enforce 666 controls on buying and selling? What should Philadelphian Christians do?

Apparently he doesn't realize that some much older manuscripts has 616.

Bob's followers aren't metas. They're betas.

I've always thought the book of Revelations should be taken with a grain of salt. By the way, Revelations almost didn't make it into the Bible that we have today.

Uh, eat more cream cheese, maybe?

Bob and his stupid root words! He's just frustrated because he can't get that cancer of a church of his to metastasize.

Yes, 666 and 616 represent two variations of the name of Emperor Nero. Dennis might have commented on this a while back.

Once again, Bob got my attention. When I saw a short introduction to Metaverse by Mark Zuckerberg, I just shrugged it off. Now Bob got me interested and I had a look at a few LinkedIn Learning videos - interesting...

And in another post, Bob again laments censorship and some of his videos being bounced. A bit like HWA's ranting, he wants his message aired on his terms.

Bob thinks everything is "a prelude to 666" lately.

666 models the problem with Revelation generally. Nobody knows for sure what it means. The most plausible theory is that it refers to "Nero Caesar" which can be computed alphanumerically as 666 or 616 depending on whether it is represented in Greek or Latin. In any event it is something that happened long ago and if you are still waiting for it to happen, you might as well be waiting for Godot.

The writing smacks of Gnosticism and conspiracy and many people have their self-esteem wrapped up in ostensibly knowing secretive things that others do not. What I find ludicrous is that some end-time prophecy types will come out with a theory that wholly contradicts scripture and yet for a while it will get some traction among their apparently Bible-illiterate followers. Like the idea that the "mark" is a vaccination. The passage in Revelation states clearly that the mark is in the forehead and hand and that it is a name or the number of a name. Some are so eager to adapt this to their political views that they sweep aside what little the scripture tell us about it.

I am cool towards the Revelation of John of Patmos (There are are enough ancient writings that contain "revelations" that "revelation" is a kind of literary genre. The Nag Hammadi library contains about twenty such writings by early Christians.) even though it occupies about 90 percent of what apocalyptic Millerites think is the Bible. Some of the more accessible parts of John's Revelation I like very much. But the other parts are a kind of a surreal puzzle. And for me, the surrealism strikes a discordant note. This is underscored by the fact that Revelation does not occupy as strong a place in the canon as, say, the writings of Paul. It is interesting that apocalyptic Millerites have taken the weakest link in the canonical chain and have placed nearly the full weight of their belief on it.

Revelation 13:16-18: It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.

MY COMMENT - We can see and understand how these verses are possible if we watch what is happening to the Canadian freedom truckers. Canada is now acting like a dictatorship. Bank accounts and property of those supporting the freedom truckers are being seized. They cannot buy or sell unless they have the mark of approval of the government.

This is the Great Reset that is coming to America if we don't wake up. The Great Reset rests on tyrants like Justin Trudeau to win through fear, intimidation and the corruption of weak people to support them. The United States already has a digit currency waiting in the wings for implementation (https://www.banking.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/Giancarlo%20Testimony%20Addendum%206-30-202.pdf).

The unspoken benefit to the government of the digital dollar is the possibility that the government can control the masses by "turning off the money" so some may not buy or sell and participate in the economy. As examples, those who are not politically correct; those who are not vaccinated; those who have low ESG scores, etc.

You don't have to have any understanding of Bible prophecy, Armstrongism, little Bobby Thiel and his cartoons, or "666" explicitly written to see and understand that the new world system that is being created before our eyes by the Globalists in the World Economic Forum can be interpreted as to what is described in Revelation 13:16-18 so that only those approved by the government in the masses can buy or sell.

Addendum 8:07

The Revelation of John of Patmos has an interesting history. Just to give you a flavor (from Elaine Pagels, Revelations, 2012)

1. Athanasius was a proponent of the Book because he interpreted it as being not so much as a condemnation of the Roman government as a condemnation of heresy. He was at war with Melitius who was advocating the Arian Heresy. (Arianism is spoken of positively in the church history written by Dugger and Dodd. I am not sure why. Arianism diminishes the status of Jesus.)

2. Justin, Irenaeus and Tertullian were very much favorable to the Book. but contemporaries of Athanasius had their own canonical lists and they all omitted Revelation. And in many cases Revelation was the only book they omitted from the widely accepted list of NT books. Gregory of Nanzianzus, for instance, left it out of his list. Bishop Cyril of Jerusalem also left it out of his list and stated ominously "and whatever books are not read in the churches, do not read them, even by yourself."

3. Some may argue that God gave us our King James canon miraculously which does include the Revelation of John of Patmos. But this is a Protestant canon. The Catholic canon is yet different. Which one is miraculous? In Armstrong-speak, the one with the backing of the Great Whore or her Daughters?

Revelation may belong in the canon. There are parts of if that seem unequivocal and I like those parts. But there are other parts that are abstruse and lead to many variant and dubious interpretations. It is especially a trigger for people with a weakness for conspiracy and secretive knowledge. I think the jury is out. Maybe it should be labelled "handle with care." Or like Cyril said, "Don't read this by yourself." You might just end up a prophecy weenie at best and, at worst, an apocalyptic Millerite.

Once upon a time, I heard a sermon titled "The Mystery of 666," dated 13 September 1997, which essentially pointed out that the number 666 represented the number of names that God knows Satan by, and the name of the beast was identified by Revelation 12:3 and 13:1.

Might it be that the beast and Satan are a couple of those 666 names that God knows Satan by?

Time will tell...
