2015 Article Calling Bob Thiel "...a seriously delusional character" Is Still Applicable in 2023

There was a great blog that ran for several years called Church of God Perspective that was run by John D. Early on, John saw though the lies and deception of Bob Thiel and called him out on it, just as we have. John never minced words about Bob which pushed Bob's delicate buttons even more than we do.

We have to laugh at how the Great Bwana Bob Mzungu wrote letters to complain to Gavin Rumney and John D about how they criticized him but he has never had the man cajones to write to us and complain.  Not that are terribly disappointed.  He complains on his blog because he knows that no one can respond to him. Cowardly.

COGWriter Bob Thiel is a seriously delusional character.

COGWriter Bob Thiel emailed me the following. I am following it up with my response for reasons contained within that response:

Dear John:
I just ran across a post you made about me calling me a liar and claiming that I do not correct errors.
For the two decades I have posted on the internet, I have always corrected factual errors when brought to my attention.
If you feel that there is something I have not corrected, please give me proper details, as opposed to your opinions. You could have contacted me directly about this. You are bearing false witness by referring to me as a liar, etc.
The fact that you disagree with some of my opinions does not justify what you did. Please remove that post.
And, yes, I have a Ph.D. and Th.D. among other degrees. The Th.D. is in Christian Apologetics, with a speciality of Early Church History.
Regards,
Bob Thiel

No, I will not remove that post. It is ironic that you claim you do not know the specifics of where you are wrong when one of the complaints in that post are that you don’t even bother to carefully read things to ensure an accurate understanding. I specifically point out one area where you are wrong, but your narcissism will not allow you to see it.

No, I will not contact you privately because you will quote me out of context and/or twist its meaning, so this way everyone will openly see the entire exchange in public.  Your entire blog is just like James Malm’s, twisting what others have said to fit your agenda. The only difference is that sometimes you are more subtle about it.

You yourself stated that your PhD was not in Theology. If that has changed, then so be it.  However, I know it will go above your head the fact that this makes you an even smaller man that even I could have imagined. Please, tell us, Dr Thiel, why do false teachers have such a love for strings of titles? After all, there are worldly religious figures I respect more than you, who themselves are doctors, but they do not obscure it with a long list of irrelevant and superfluous other degrees, studies and titles.

I will make sure that there is a link to this article from that article just to clear up the matter, however. After all, unlike you, I am a man of some character and do not go out of my way to twist words to make it appear that someone said something other than what they truly said.

If you really want that article taken down, then I suggest your repent of your narcissistic slander and admit:

    1. You are not a real prophet of God. In fact, you aren’t even a prophet, but merely a purveyor of what others have churned out as “prophecies”.
    2. That there is such a thing as dual prophecy, and HWA taught it. Therefore, an event can be fulfilled in the past and again in the future.
    3. That just because someone says ten nations will come together in the future, that does not necessarily mean that it is ten nations as now exists. In fact, the COG has long taught that the ten toes could be ten nations or ten groups of nations, such as how in WWII Germany swallowed up Austria and other regions yet was considered one nation.
    4. That you have intentionally twisted words from LCG’s and COGWA’s to make it appear that #2 and #3 are false.
    5. That you have intentionally manipulated the words of a minister who anointed you because you were seeking a specific confirmation for what your heart lusted after.

Because, until you can do this, I will not even consider taking down that post. People must be warned about the false teacher that you are.

Make no mistake about it, God will judge between me and thee.

Here are some more articles that John D wrote about the greatest Church of God leader to ever exist in human history:

Bob is a square peg in a round hole. He does not have the natural talent and aptitude to be a church leader. It's that simple.
He needs to find a life elsewhere.

I thought he did respond once, complaining about the "self-appointed" tag. "But I have had hands laid upon me!", as if ministurds didnt always do that in the anointing-for-healing process.

Thiel is downright tiresome!

It's been my experience that there is not a heck of a lot that can be done to make delusional characters "normal". Just as some are born homosexual, or with various other configurations of the mind and soul, there is a certain percentage of the general population that is born predisposed to being delusional. Armstrongites are by no means all delusional, but any cultic belief system is going to attract delusional people. There seems to be a sliding scale for this, just as there is a scale for those with Aspergers Syndrome. The most delusional people are those who are also obsessive-compulsive. Bob Thiel's crooked curtains and allowance for imperfections amongst his African ministry suggest that he is not high on the OC scale, however the way he persists in and has confidence in his delusions suggest that he IS high on the delusional scale.

False Prophets will have their part in the flames that are never quenched:
like these 'Three Shepherds', HWA, Thiel, Pack.

Prophecy is not dual. Isa 41:22 says so according to a minister but no; reread with emphasis on the word "or" (it's in the Hebrew). Eze 5:9; Mat 24:21: prophecies occur once. There's no verse saying prophecy is dual.

Philippians 2:

3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other BETTER than themselves.

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Nobody is born homosexual. Do some digging. Don't believe the standard narratives. That is irresponsibly foolish.

You are incredibly naive, 12:52! Why do you believe that? Because you think that God would not allow it?

Here, try this: Statistically, one out of every 5,500 babies born is not able to be identified as "male" or "female" at birth, either because their sex chromosomes do not match their appearance, or because they possess two sets of genitalia, and it is therefore not clear whether the baby is male or female. Most often, doctors make their best guess, and perform surgery soon after birth, so that the child has a better chance at a "normal" life. These individuals used to be called hermaphrodites, but are now called by the more realistic and sensitive term "intersex people."

This is pretty trippy material to contemplate! But, it has been abundantly documented medically. If there can be such beings as intersex babies born into the world, with that child or person's body and mind being both involved in his or her condition, you must certainly be able to comprehend that people can also be born whose bodies are normal, but their minds are not configured in the same way as the majority of their gender. In fact, people with only same sex attraction might even be seen as being more fortunate than those born deformed with the genitals of both sexes.

Being born in certain ways is one path. It is also well documented that people can be seduced into homosexuality, or coerced into it.

What is remarkable is the inability of cog ‘prophets’, and leadership to predict the tragic events in Israel and Gaza over the last month. Or even to predict the Ukraine Russia war or its consequences. Even the collapse of the Soviet Union. Or to give the ‘masses’ the probable outcomes. They have been left blindsided and with their pants down. In fact the list is endless in their inability to have correctly discerned the present conflicts and of those many others around the globe in general.
Secular ‘prophets’, educated scholars, historians and their elk, have been much more adept at discerning the ‘times’ than the cog movement. Commentators from the cog community simply repeat what those of the secular press etc parrot. And it’s often, to use the phrase, ‘the bleeding obvious’.
As events unfold, and often spectacularly different from what was commonly believed and proclaimed, delusion and wild speculations become the normal fare within Armstrongism.
We have nothing to fear from these individuals. Of that the scripture is clear.

While our friend here managed to miss the entire point of the post over one phrase, it really is the old nature vs nurture argument all over again. Was Bob born predisposed to vanity and delusion, or did he learn it from someone... or both?

"No one is born homosexual."
That is technically correct. What's also true is that people are born with all manner of weaknesses. If it's not one thing, it's something else. Everyone has a responsibility to wrestle with these weaknesses, least they be overwhelmed and ruined.
Watching the news, it's like a procession of people who have had their lives trashed by such weaknesses. Booze and drugs being a common one.
I'm in the same boat, so I'm not looking down my nose at anyone.

@3:59:00 PM: "inability of cog ‘prophets’, and leadership to predict the tragic events in Israel and Gaza over the last month. Or even to predict the Ukraine Russia war".
On the contrary we were taught way back about the prophecy of the king of the east going down to the holy land, then looking to the west and lusting for a "land with unwalled villages" - Ukraine. Then locusts with fire in their tails with the power to hurt for five months.
I'm not looking up the scriptures just to make a comment.
It always was understood that Israel would come under seige at the end.
Every detail was not understood.

‘On the contrary we were taught way back about the prophecy to the king of the east going down to the holy land then looking to the west and lusting for a land with uncalled villages-Ukraine…..’

Well this is news to me. Quite a bizarre commentary indeed.
After just under 30 years within the wwcog I never heard this one …………and I thought I had heard it all.
Whoever taught this is simply bonkers and must of jumped off the deep end.
Well the comments of late here on this blog are getting interesting and leaves me breathless……..
Thank God for the gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s simply astounding in its simplicity and generosity and boundless love.
So far removed from the the rather bizarre phenomenon of prediction addiction rampant within the remnants of Armstrongism.

This post evokes a mix of skepticism and admiration. It's intriguing to see someone claim to spread their gospel across 900 languages, but the controversy surrounding their methods raises questions about authenticity. The focus on linguistic diversity is commendable, yet the underlying motives and potential inaccuracies in translation through AI cast doubt on the true impact of their efforts.

Due to the complete failure of Armstrongism, and the fact that it has fallen apart, and even the nostalgia groups are shrinking, everyone still in it is saying everything to justify it and make it look as if it was "right", and (boy oh boy!) we "scoffers" who left will see when it's finally time for us to get ours!

In terms of prophecy, nobody from that movement is providing any useful information that actually corresponds to the realities we see unfolding. Oh, yes, very bad things are entirely possible, but you really have to do some distorting and stretching to make any of it conform to the Germany and the Catholics Armstrong prophecy mold. That was the way the world may have looked during World War II, and the way HWA applied his interpretation of Daniel and Revelation to those optics, but the realities of nearly 80 years later are completely different. They continue to fan those flames, but their specifics are vastly different from anything anyone sees going on around them, so of course nobody pays any attention to them.

Yes, in 2016, the USA took a very divisive dump, and it is becoming worse. But, it's something our politicians have done to our melting pot, and it is absolutely hilarious that the COGlodytes have taken sides. on the global scene, if Iran had nuked Jerusalem, Israel would be in existential crisis. As it is, there was a skirmish with the Palestinians, and the entire world is trying to convince Israel not to take advantage of the fact that they have the upper hand. There is also no mention in the Bible of what amounts to a Civil War in Russia. But, here is Armstrongism attempting to connect dots that aren't there!
