David C. Pack’s Health Prayer Request
David C. Pack of The Restored Church of God admitted his health struggles to the brethren during “The Greatest Untold Story! (Part 592)” on August 23, 2025. The 76-year-old Pastor General explained the issues with his heart and being exhausted by preaching, and requested prayers from the church.
This admission counters his previous statements when he boasted about how good his health was, and also exposes his comments over the years about why he sits at a table while preaching.
David C. Pack has a history of hiding his medical problems from the brethren. He verbally hid his struggles with tachycardia, even though the symptoms on his face during that time showed the truth.
At Headquarters, he was open about how he saw sickness as “weakness” and believed it was a result of a hidden sin. The medical issues of others were repulsive to him. He shamed employees for needing to take time off work to get better and even told an elderly woman suffering from the initial stages of Parkinson’s to hide her shaking hand while in his presence. “Mr. Pack gets mad when he sees my hand shake,” she told me.
When Dave contracted COVID-19 after mocking brethren in the Living Church of God for wearing face masks and not singing during the Feast of Tabernacles in 2019, Bradford Schleifer was compelled to mislead the church by saying, “Mr. and Mrs. Pack are fine,” to hide Headquarters’ embarrassing little secret. Weeks later, David C. Pack spun his illness as biblical and likened himself to Ezekiel being locked in his house so he could have time to refine his prophetic understanding.
Known to former Headquarters members and now documented in public, David C. Pack also said he “had no life” and “this is all I do.” Perhaps realizing he is a false prophet, false apostle, and false teacher is just around the corner. But do not count on it.

Some random thoughts:
I'd only be speculating, but it's possible that such an existential health scare would influence one's constant longings for Jesus Christ to return, hence Dave's chaotic interpretation of prophecy. He profoundly wishes for that event to be the capstone of his life's work, therefore he constantly sees scriptures in light of supporting that. Blame HWA, but Dave also shares culpability.
We can also see the accumulated wisdom, gleaned over the course of the industrial era, of a man retiring at or close to a certain age. People who remain beyond their peak don't always impact those in their bubble in a positive manner.
The people in the ACOGs would most definitely not want to see another reformer as successor, such as Joseph Tkach Sr. There are probably those who wonder who Dave's "Jerry Weston" might be. ACOG people normally have preferred AC grads. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the only AC grad Dave ever attracted was Dale Schurter, and it didn't take long after the "annointed eyes" for differences of opinion to enter the picture.
Illness does have much to do with life style, but also basic heredity enters the picture. I had a good friend in Bob Justus both at SEP, and at AC. He was very athletic, a runner like me, and lived a moderate life style. Oddly enough, we both ended up in the printing industry. He was one of the people I'd lost touch with and searched for when getting on the internet in the early 2,000's. I was saddened when my search revealed that he had died. This sin and illness theory in Armstrongism has stigmatized far too many people over the years who were actually genetically predisposed to certain conditions, or were victims of the random probability of human existence. I'm not surprised that Dave would trash people for their illnesses in addition to all the other ways he treats his people.
I fervently wish for Dave's recovery. But, the recovery for which I would prefer would be somewhat akin to that of acclaimed literary figure Ebenezer Scrooge.
Wouldn't it be nice if Dave could be healed of his Armstrongism, reconcile with his family, and begin to massively give back to his loyal followers?

"Perhaps realizing he is a false prophet, false apostle, and false teacher is just around the corner."
You are being too kind Marc. Being older and more experienced, there's no doubt in my mind that Dave is fully aware of his major sins. Articles on people like Dave encourage their victims to exercise "radical acceptance" in acknowledging the abusers true evil character. Which is what God does when he sentences such people to eternal death.
He is full of beef baloney.
Dave: I'm exhausted!
Brethren: We're exhausted three times over- mentally, spiritually, and financially!
Like Rod Merrideth, Dave might demand a church fast for his healing. He's been leading his followers to spiritual ruin, yet expects them to pray for his prosperity. What a sick joke.
This is a tough one.
This man has been so wrong so often. Yet God apparently has allowed it for all these years.
Is this Mr. Pack's way of finally surrendering, when it comes to predictions?
May God's will be done.
One recent post on the Internet stated that from his U.S. graduating high school class of 1974, half have already died, most from heart disease. This points to a poor diet and lack of exercise.
R.L. Why call this buffoon Mr.?
He's just a dude with delusions of grandeur. No one to be treated with any type of deference.
And by that logic wouldn't everything that has come to pass be "because God apparently allowed it for all these years?"
Which should lead you to more questions...
So Dave knows that the end of his life is approaching, yet no change. This must mean that he resigned himself to the lake of fire a while back. Dave secretly understands that one must build the mind of God over a period of many years, and has failed to do so. Eternal death awaits him.
Byker Bob, you nailed it with the Scrooge comparison. Even though Dave counts me as his enemy, I do not see him the same way. The real enemy is himself. He is a miserable man who makes those around him miserable. I worry about one his two inexperienced pons...Andrew Holcombe. Every time I see him it seems like the guy aged another five years. Oddly enough, Jim Habboush looks like he is thriving. That says something about those two fellas. I hope Dave has a "come to Jesus" moment and repents of his blasphemy and all the evil he has done to people. If HWA showed up as Jacob Marley to warn Dave, he might just throw him a "humbug" and slam th door.
Interesting that you bring up Rod Meredith. I once heard Dave criticize him because Rod's health had gotten so bad, he had to sit at a table to preach and men had to assist him. God has a sense of humor and is a fan of irony. Now, Dave just said he needed men to help him down from the table. This kind of clarity will escape Dave because he cannot see past the thick fog of his own ego. I have reported for years that Dave's sitting excuses were malarkey. It's wild to me how he keeps legitimizing the reports at exrcg.org.
