The New Covenant offered an alternative and Armstrongism treated it like a competing product. Grace does not need you anxious about Saxony-Anhalt. Union with Christ does not need your ancestry to be Manasseh. The Spirit is not a frequent-flyer program Satan can cancel with volcanic ash. Perfect love casts out fear. That is precisely why fear has to be restocked every week before the Feast.
Weston's note is not analysis. It is maintenance. Review the booklet. Remember the god of this age. Pray for Festival sites. Travel safely - and never forget why you keep these days. Translation: stay inside the story in which Charlotte holds the decoder ring and the rest of the church holds its breath.
The satire writes itself, but the theology is older than Meredith's eye surgery. A system that must turn every runway excursion into spiritual warfare is a system that cannot afford a Savior who already said "it is finished." If Jesus is sufficient, you do not need jackboots in the middle distance to keep the lights on. If identity is in Christ, you do not need gold countries on a map and gray countries as extras. If the devil is not the most powerful god in the room, you can fly to the Feast without narrating yourself as the reason Krakatau woke up.
Armstrongism lives on fear because fear is the only fuel that still burns after a century of revised dates. The New Covenant lives on a cross and an empty tomb, which is why it does not need AfD's 43.8 percent to remain true.
If the gospel requires a German statehouse, a Heathrow runway, and a volcano to stay interesting, it is not the gospel. It is a subscription. Weston can keep ringing the Assyria bell. Meredith's heirs can keep discovering that Europe is "given to sudden dramatic changes," a sentence that would also describe weather, teenagers, and the church's own prophetic calendar. Meanwhile the New Covenant sits there, unpaid and un-hyperventilated, insisting that the dividing wall is already down, that days do not commend you to God, and that the one they claim to follow is not waiting in the wings until He can out-perform Satan at travel disruption. Charlotte will call that Laodicean. Scripture calls it news. The jackboots can wait. The booklet can wait. The frenzy can wait. The alternative already arrived, and it did not need Magdeburg to close the sale.

The problem is, these people have been fanning the flames and crying wolf for so many decades now that nobody except those who are stuck inside are going to take it seriously. There is a frame of reference that they forget. Certain partisans in the USA have taken a very hard right turn, to the detriment of those who have been considered our most solid allies. So, our jilted "lovers" have responded in kind. What you see in Germany is the effect! We are the cause. It's very difficult to see any immediate return to equilibrium until the billiard balls quit colliding. So much structural damage has been done to the formerly somewhat cooperative global community that it could now actually require a world war to bring common sense back to the table and settle things down. A couple of elections in Germany are not on the same scale as the sheer number of hard right elected officials who have taken over our own country. This is like worrying about feral housecats in the neighborhood when lions and tigers are already surrounding you.

Humans evolved with a sheep instinct. It was safer to be part of the group than to be too smart for your own survival needs. Those who are too far ahead of the herd get ostracized and persecuted. All belief systems are based on kicking out the "heretics" who are a danger to the controllers in the establishment.

I had a look at the article titled “Germany in Prophecy” by McNair and Winnail. I only scanned it because it is, by this time, a cliché. I will cite just one category of error that they made. Their error is deducing the migration of entire nations based on the discovery of artifacts that signal, absent other confirming data, nothing more than ancient trading networks.
A case in point. At Must Farm in Cambridgeshire in Britain, archaeologist have found beads from 1000 BC made in Iran from Egyptian glass. Should we then conclude that the British people are Iranian or maybe Egyptian? No, we must take into consideration all the relevant information. This is a principle that HWA espoused. He believed that all the information on a Biblical issue must be examined before a doctrinal view could be formed. This same methodology works in the discipline of history. And now we have highly reliable genetic data that traces the migration of peoples. This data should not be ignored. But the terms “haplogroup” and “DNA” are not found in the article titled Germany in Prophecy.
Let me pose an easily grasped dilemma that arises when one looks to genetics for validation of the theory that Germans are Assyrians. In the genealogy reflecting the clans of Noah in Genesis 10, we have a line of descent for the Jews. We know who the Jews are and we know that their principal population haplogroup is J. This is also true of the Adnani Arabs who claim descent from Abraham. Hence, we can trace the origin of the Assyrians from the Bible assertion itself if we know the rules of the science of genetics. We have this linage: Noah, Shem and Assur.
The y chromosome haplogroup follows the masculine line. If the Jews are haplogroup J, then Noah had to have been haplogroup J according to Biblical genealogy. This means both Shem and Asshur are haplogroup J. Haplogroup J is a common, widespread ancient Middle Eastern population haplogroup. But the Germans are principally haplogroups R1b and R1a, both of which originated in Eurasia and belonged to people who migrated from the Pontic Steppe around 2,500 BC into Western Europe. The is the true source of migration of people into Western Europe. And this biological data overwhelmingly trumps the odd reference from classical writers or the excavation of the odd artifact.
If Winnail and McNair went to challenge the genetic data, they should find established archaeogenetic data from excavated human remains that the people living in the ancient Assyrian homeland were almost exclusively haplogroup R1b and R1a like the modern Germans. There were people from the Pontic Steppe in the ancient Middle East. They got around. But they did not amount to a dominating population. The fact is, the Germans did not originate in the Middle East but in Eurasia. They are not Assyrians but Steppe Pastoralists – people who herded cattle on the Pontic Steppe as early as 7,500 BC.
