Oh Noes!!!!!!!!!!! China is building a superhighway to Europe in order to capture it

The mind of an Armstrongite splinter cult leader is a terrible thing to waste.  Leave it to these guys to constantly scour every newspaper article they can find for some event to fit their perverted end-time scenarios.  These spiritually bankrupt frauds go out of their way to find things that they think are sure signs of Herbert's prophecies coming to fruition.  They get all glassy eyed when they think they have found something to scare their members with.

Never one to be left to the sidelines, Almost-arrested, Elisha, Elijah, Amos, Joshua, doubly-blessed, improperly ordained, bitter "son" of Rod Meredith, naturopath and peddler of herbs and other concoctions, is breathlessly reporting how the Chinese are seeking to build a new "silk road" from China all the way to Armageddon.

When leaders of 28 nations gather in Beijing next week for a summit to map out China’s ambitious new Silk Road project, one question is likely to be on attendees’ minds – what exactly is the Belt and Road Initiative? …China pushing the ‘Silk Road’ project: A prelude for the ‘kings of the east’?
China wants all roads, digital and physical, to lead to it:
The Belt and Road Initiative, which comprises the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, was proposed by China in 2013, with the aim of building a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa along the ancient Silk Road routes. May 17, 2016 http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2016-05/17/c_135366188.htm/52303832.cms?utm_source=contentofinterest&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=cppst
BEIJING: China has proposed an international scientific cooperation programme for Earth observation to provide digital backing to Beijing’s mega Silk Road Project. The ”digital Silk Road” proposal was put forward here yesterday at an international symposium on Earth observation for the Belt and Road, the official designation for Silk Road said. May 17, 2016  http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/52303832.cms?utm_source=contentofinterest&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=cppst
So what could be wrong with this; besides many of the countries having strong reason to not to let it pass through their sovereign nations?

In deluded Elijah Thiel's mind, it is a sure sign that the Chinese are building a superhighway that will allow the invading Chinese armies to conquer Europe.  As we all know, most of Europe is made up of "Israelite" nations and they will soon be going into captivity AFTER the US, Canada, England, Australia and New Zealand fall prey to the Germans.  Those damn Germans!  What will we do with them?

The ‘road’ is to go to Europe from Russia and China. As far as Europe goes, the Bible shows that the final European King of the North will be disturbed by news from the north (Russia) and the east (including China):
40 … the king of the North …43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, … 44 But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many. 45 And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him. (Daniel 11:40,43-45)
So just where does this "silk road" end up?  According to deluded Joshua Elisha Thiel, the Chinese are building a superhighway to Armageddon.  Tel Megiddo, to be precise.   Who knew!  Really!  Shocking!
The Bible also tells of a time when the ‘kings of the sunrise/east’ will travel on land. They will end up in Armageddon:
12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (Revelation 16:12-16)
The ‘kings of the east’ are to come across the Euphrates river, which will at least partially dry up according to prophecy. The new “Silk Road” is expected to head near the river Euphrates. And while I have not seen anything that shows that the Silk Road is specifically planned to go all the way to Tel Megiddo (Armageddon), there are a couple of highways in the area of Armageddon already that I have personally seen. So, it would seem that the proposed Silk Road project will help build a major road from the far east through central Asia and into the Middle East that can be used to at least get close to Armageddon, and then there are other roads that connect to it.
The Bible is clear that troops will one day gather in Armageddon. China wants to pave roads to get near there.
It may well be that the Silk Road project will help clear the way for Chinese and other troops to attack Europe as well as gather in Armageddon.

Anyone that takes Amos Thiel's words as truth needs their head examined.  His idiotic explanations are starting to get as weird as Dave Pack's.  One has to look long and hard to find any depiction of the new "silk road" ending in Tel Megiddo or Armageddon. Just Google the words "new silk road" and you will be hard pressed to find anything remotely stating that the route will end in Israel.  That has never stopped any Church of God false prospect from making foolish predictions though.

My Campus Is Like The City of Zion

The incomplete City on the Hill

Just as Jesus feet supposedly walked the green hills of England, Dave Pack's "jesus" will return to walk the green hills of Wadsworth, Ohio.  After all, it is just like Zion!  Awesome!
Let me make a summary statement, brethren. Zion is then a very long, thin city…And for the moment, think of our campus as about three-quarters of a mile long or about 4,000 feet, but only a third of a mile wide at its widest point…maybe 1,700 feet…but in places, the campus is only a third of that, maybe 6- or 700 feet. So much like Mount Zion, we are a long, thin campus that runs, let’s say, 6- or 700 feet up to 1,700 feet wide, while it is 4,000 feet long. And that’s interesting to consider, that will come up later in the sermon.

Anyone Who Leaves My Church Is "Spewed Out" By Christ

One of the fear tactics that the church has always used to scare people into "obedience," was the false claim that if you left the church that Jesus Christ spits you out of the body.  It is never you leaving the organization because it is corrupt to the core, but that  Jesus Christ got sick and tired of your bellyaching and whining and "spewed" you out.

Superfantabulous Dave Pack says:

“I know your works, that [you’re] neither cold nor hot…[I wish] you were [one or the other] cold or hot. [But]…because you are [barely warm. That’s what it means.] neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth” (Rev. 3:15-16). That happened decades ago, and anybody who grows lukewarm, today, and you see them leave, they’re spewed out of their mouth. Christ just turns their head a quarter-turn, and out they go. They think they rejected us, but they’re really the rejectees, not the rejectors, by a loving Christ Who says, “I can’t work with you here. You’re not getting it. You’re going to have to go through some real tough times.” And so out they go, thinking they decided to leave, but in many cases, Christ had to expel them, because we’re not going to go around and put them out. We can’t read their hearts anyway.
I’ve seen it happen many times; but for the most part, it happened twenty-some years ago. Tens of thousands of people were just spewed out of Christ’s Body, that’s what it means—out of His mouth. When they were spewed out of Christ’s mouth, it means out of His Body. What else would it mean? They’re His people and He loves them—but they’re not in the Body of Christ. They’re part of the Temple—they’re part of the flock—they’re part of the called-out ones, the Church—but they’re not in the Body of Christ, because out of His Body they went. And when you vomit people, they’re only going to come out one place—so out of the Body. They were in wretched condition, so He said to them…

Creditors Bob....CREDITORS!

Bob Thiel continues, in typical Church of God tradition, to make Scripture mean what it never meant to mean for a time it never meant to mean it

"Since Isaiah lived 2700 plus years ago, could his writings be applicable today?
Yes.

One thing he wrote
12 As for My people, children are their oppressors, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths. (Isaiah 3:12)

Of course, women are influential in the English-speaking nations,  (Poster's Note: GHASTLY DAYS!) Yet, ever since Margaret Thatcher was prime minister of the United Kingdom, I have felt that it is likely that the USA would end up with a female president or at least a highly influential woman in a top level federal government job. As it turns out, the four remaining predominantly British-descended nations (the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) all have had not only queens (they shared the same ones), but all have already had a woman in the office of prime minister. The prime minister is the chief executive official in a parliamentary system of governance.

Since the physically territorial and other blessings affected the descendents of Ephraim first (cf. Genesis 48:17-19), it would seem that certain passages of scripture, such as Isaiah 3:12 discussing female rule, would also affect them first.

While the U.S. does not have a parliamentary form of governance with a prime minister, it does have a chief executive official who fills the office of president. And the U.S. has never had a female as its president. Now, because the U.S. has already had women rule in high positions, it may not be prophetically required to have a woman as its president to fulfill part of the prophecy in Isaiah 3:12, yet it very well may need to.

Hillary Clinton was fulfilling part of that verse for many years herself as a US senator then Secretary of State. And there have been various female Supreme Court justices, senators, etc. who also have, including Janet Yellen, chair of the Federal Reserve. While it is not absolutely required that the USA itself have a woman president, I do feel that if we do get one, that this would be a partial, but significant, fulfillment of that prophecy from Isaiah."
(Emphasis mine)

(Poster's Note: Let's not leave out Sally Yates and Elizabeth Warren)

ON THE OTHER HAND...

Isaiah 3:12 might make more sense and be less available to use to denigrate intelligent and talented women in our present times if, according to a Jewish commentator:

"3:12 A babe is their master and women rule over them.  The same word here is used for "babe" as in Verse 4, and the commentators translate it as either a symbol of weak rulers or of mockers and cynics. Kimchi adds that, because of their sexuality (it has been a common misconception, from ancient times up to the present day, that women are more sexually enticing, and more sexually motivated, than men are), the men will fall under the domination of women. Krauss calls attention to the fact that the word for "women" (nashim) can also be read as "creditors," and that all the ancient translations indicate that one of the misfortunes that will come to them is that they will be always in the hands of their creditors."

And while no one would argue the problem of creditors is always with us, Isaiah was not looking ahead 2700 years.  He was waiting for his next notice of late payment

God's Most Important End Time Work Is Drawing HUGE Numbers Of Potential Money Making Members

From an LCG source:

Living Church of God has been running a series of Tomorrow's World presentations in various cities from the midwest to the east coast and in Canada.

Thousands of dollars in tithe money have been spent to put on these presentations.  Hall rental fees, hotel accommodations for speakers, videographers, and publicity are just a few of the expenses used in putting on these presentations.

Much like the epic failure of the UCG with their campaigns, LCG has been failing miserably.

Nashville, TN
has a population of 678,889 and attracted 20 potential money-making commodities.

Beaumont, TX
has a population of 117,585 and attracted 10 potential money-making commodities.

Calgary, Alberta
has a population of 1,214,839 and attracted 42 potential money-making commodities.

Cambridge, Ontario
has a population of 126,748 and attracted 30 potential money-making commodities.

When you read Weston's snow job below you are expected to think that is an amazing thing that so few actually attended these presentations.
There were four Tomorrow’s World Presentations last weekend. In addition to our members, we had 20 guests in Nashville, Tennessee; 10 in Beaumont, Texas; 42 in Calgary, Alberta; and 30 in Cambridge, Ontario. This Sunday we have another one scheduled for Manhattan, New York where we have invited over 5,000 guests. So far this year we have held 18 TWPs and we have a good number on the schedule for the coming months. I especially enjoyed my trip to Nashville as it gave me the opportunity to spend time with our minister and his family. Darrell Lovelady serves three congregations in addition to Nashville, which keeps him quite busy. On our return we stopped in Knoxville, Tennessee to spend a few hours with Martin Fannin, along with his wife and daughter. The Fannins also serve four congregations. Meanwhile, weeks of heavy rains have caused severe, even historic, flooding in much of the United States Midwest and South. Parts of Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana have been especially hit hard. Please remember our members who may be in the way of this current disaster.

This Land Is Mine

As we watch many different Church of God groups converging on Petra in the next 5 -10 -15 -20 -100 -1000 or so years from now, will we see a similar situation as the Packites, Flurryites, Thielites, Malmites, Frankites, and Westonites fight over who is really in charge?  Who really needs a tribulation when the Church of God has created its own nightmare?

More On Gerald Flurry's Extravagant Con Game To Own His Own Private Jet

Gerald Flurry has gone out of his way to imitate Herbert Armstrong in every manner possible.  His latest episode in whoring himself out to Herbert's legacy included buying his own GIII jet.  Of his many excuses for a reason to do this was that due to his advanced age and severe health issues, he could not travel and breathe the same air as the unwashed masses of unconverted commercial airline travels.  Some of them might have a cold and due to the air being recirculated the apostle just might be exposed to the germs of pagans.

Flurry went several letters of appeal to Philadelphia Church of God members appealing for them to send in as much money as possible.  Several larger benefactors face huge amounts of money to fund his jet.  He also took money from widows and the poor in the church without any guilt at all. $13,000,000.00 in tithe money is a pretty hefty price for a church member to support.  Not involved in any of this is the cost for jet maintenance, hanger rental, gas, pilot salaries, crew salaries, insurance, transportation costs to and from the airports, hotels, meals, and renovations to suit the expected lifestyle of God's ONLY end-time apostle.

FYI: Yesterday in a play-all-areas sermon entitled “Abraham’s Vision”, Gerald Flurry mentioned that he is now considering buying a private jet!  The rationale behind this unbelievable decision stems from experiences Flurry had last year on his flight to and from a US feast site.  Apparently his trip left him feeling so unwell that it took several weeks to fully recover his energy levels.  During the message he commented that modern air travel is now very unpleasant and that breathing in recycled air was unhealthy for him.  He also complained how in the US passengers needed to get to the airport in sufficient time to allow for security screening, sometimes requiring that they arrive up to 3 hours before an international flight.   He concluded by saying that owning a private jet meant he would be able to travel and do more for the work, especially being able to travel quickly between the two campuses in Edmond, OK and Edstone, UK.
What that all translates into is this:  After buying a multi-million dollar stately home in the UK, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars refurbishing it, literally pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars into a fruitless UK TV campaign for his son, after building a multi-million dollar music and Irish dance facility for the Edmond compound brats, all of which is financed by an ageing and declining membership, the PCG is now going to buy a private jet so Gerald Flurry's children Stephen and Laura and their children and friends can travel the world like rock stars and not have to rub shoulders with the unwashed masses. This unbelievable decision has been made during a time when PCG is experiencing a current 25% drop in income!
You seriously have to wonder about the long-term stability of the PCG and who is really running the church behind the scenes.   Repeatedly throughout his message, Flurry referenced Josephus and how this ancient historian taught that Abraham was an educated and cultured man who introduced fine arts and music everywhere he went.  Each time Flurry made that statement, after the expression, “fine arts and music” he would quickly add “and dancing”.  I know for a fact that “Wittle Laura” and “Wittle Stevie” are both obsessed with Irish dancing, perhaps this is where the pressure is really coming from to buy that oh so needed Lear jet!

A PCG source has sent information that Flurry had several opportunities to not spend so much tithe money on his own personal play toy as he has now done.

There are at several conveniently located jet charter companies that would have let Flurry use their luxurious jets for his apostolic/Irish dance trips.

'Wiley Post Airport is one of three airports owned and operated by the City of Oklahoma City Department of Airports.  Designated as a reliever for Will Rogers World Airport, Wiley Post functions as a lively center for corporate and business aviation."
There are two jet charter companies at Wiley Post airport.  PCG could have just chartered a jet at far less cost than buying one. But one obvious inconvenience is that Wiley Post airport is about 18 miles from Edmond, OK.  The distance just might be too great for PCG staff to overcome.
Wiley has the following charter companies that would have allowed PCG to charter their jets.

Do Meredith's, Pack's and Flurry's Mistaken Prophetic Rants Mask Their Simple Fear of Death?

When did you ever hear  "When I die" from those ministers abscessed (I meant to use that word with their own "because we won't" prophetic drool and why not?

"Would HWA's Empire have been more successful, widespread and accepted if..."

Gerald Bronkar has asked the following question to be thrown out for comment.  This is a "neutral" question that would allow those in LCG and other groups to share their observations.

"Would HWA's Empire have been more successful, widespread and accepted if the heavy yoke of some of his church doctrines had been less onerous?
His idea of God's rules presented many tough pills to swallow: Sabbath, holy days, tithing, divorce and remarriage, dietary laws, secret society difficult to get in, church government, etc.  If some of this had been relaxed, would he have had a greater impact---membership, income, fame?  Or was this actually his real attraction?  He sure knew how to make religion difficult.

COG False Prophet Makes Claim That Tribulation Begins Christmas 2018

Our certified Chief Pharisee, who places the law above mercy and grace, has set a definitive date for the abomination of desolation to be set up and thus start the end times.

Like all of the hundreds and hundreds of Church of God false prophets and outright liars the church has had in its midst for the last 80 some years, the utterances of James Malm will be proven to be wrong once again.  Of course, come October 10th, 2017 and December 24-25, 2018 when absolutely NOTHING will happen, the lying false prophet will claim Jesus Christ has delayed his coming because the church is not ready or that he made a slight "mistake" in his calculations.

  1. Hi James. Why is October 2018 a possible date and not October 2017? I know the dates must line up for Christ returning for a first fruits harvest in the Spring. Just curious as to why next year and not this year?
    1) There does not seem to be enough time to fulfill all the things which must still happen. Even if the wars take place this summer the best part of a year would still be needed to negotiate a final peace deal, ratify it and bring in peacekeeping troops.

    2) Counting back from Pentecost June 6, 2022 to the sixth day of ULB April 22, is a perfect 45 days in 2022; and counting back the full 1335 days from Pentecost June 6, 2022, has the abomination being empowered to do miracles on 10 Oct 2018 with the trib beginning on Dec 24 – 25 2018 with the occupation of Jerusalem. This count fulfills Daniel 12 perfectly. The count for 2021, 1335 days back to 2017 does not fulfill the scriptures.
    3) In addition, the 40 years of God’s protection (Ezek 4 http://82.221.105.8/~theshini/?p=1777 ) on Judah seems to be coming to an end with the fortieth anniversary of the Egypt Israel peace treaty Oct 1978 to Oct 2018.

Everything screams the trib begins in Dec 2018, but being a very cautious person I am not willing to call it as firm until the abomination is actually set up doing miracles and the New Federal Europe is coming together, once this man is scheduled to visit the Holy Place and God’s two are revealed we shall know the date of the trib for certain. Does God want the UCG to flourish?

The United Church of God just finished its annual Council of Elders conference. As usual, there has never been a more unified group of men to meet together in the annals of human history.  The problem when leaders of UCG make such claims, trouble is always on the horizon.

The UCG propaganda publicity department had this to say:

Mr. Kubik expressed his appreciation for the spirit of fellowship among the elders of the general conference. He also welcomed those elders watching the webcast from home who were not able to make it to the meeting this year. He said that he was asked again what the purpose was for the recent church-wide fast we had. The Church hasn’t fasted together in anticipation of the meeting of the general conference for some time. In Isaiah 58 the prophet seems to be answering questions about fasting at that time. He then lays out the spiritual purpose of fasting: to humble ourselves before God and draw closer to Him and to make His purpose our purpose. Fasting is not to get our way; it is to orient ourselves to God’s way. Through this fast he has come to understand who and what we are. He sees how small we are but how much potential there is for growth, both spiritual and in numbers. God wants the Church to flourish.
Why is it that COG leaders seem to be constantly "finding out" who they are as a church?   It has been over 22 years since UCG apostatized from their mother church and decided they knew how to do things better.  At that time they claimed to know who they were and what they were doing.  In the proceeding years, we saw one issue after another hit the church as they were constantly "finding" themselves.  The church imploded with huge numbers of ministers and members jumping ship to form yet another splinter group who in turn claimed that they had found themselves in order to justify their existence.  As all of the COG's shrink smaller and smaller, just how are they to "flourish?"
Though we’re small we’re at a place where we can be united like Gideon’s army in performing God’s purpose for His Church. We’re working on a video to show the Church’s work in fostering and developing relationships across the generations that make up the Church. It’s important that we develop strong relationships among all God’s people. The younger generation coming up is very engaged in the Church and its work. We need to be ready to “hand the keys” off to those who will be the next to do that work.
United has never been united and they most certainly will NEVER be a "Gideon's army" into performing some mighty purpose.  Just HOW can the United Church of God be "fostering and developing relationships" when the leadership of the church has split families and destroyed marriages over it ongoing in-fighting.  This has been the sad legacy of the entire Church of God movement for 80 some years.

Just how can the "younger generation" ever be engaged in the church when the old guard continue to be elected to the Council of Elders?  Four spots were open on the Council and look who is back, yet again:

Council of Elders Seats
Rainer Salomaa (international)
Aaron Dean
Don Ward
Mr. Seelig announced that the last Council spot on the ballot was too close to call. Auditors are reviewing to confirm the General Conference of Elders’ choice, which should be announced tomorrow, May 8.
UCG goes on to say this:

He said there have also been questions about the structure and function of Ministerial and Member Services. He says it’s functional very well, and what he would like to do is put together a chart for the ministry to express how the department works and functions. Mr. Kubik is the acting director of MMS, and Chris Rowland is the administrator, and this situation has worked well. He has a lot of respect and appreciation for the work Mr. Rowland has done in that role. Kathe Myers was also hired to help Mr. Rowland administer the department, and she’s been a big help in the day-to-day function of MMS.
The bandages they continue to put on everything only cover the rot underneath.  After 22 years ministerial services now needs a chart for the ministry to understand what it does. After suffering huge hemorrhaging of members, the church has never recovered to be anything truly outstanding, as hard as they try.

Be Ye Not Of This World

For anyone who has ever been a part of the Church of God longer than 3 months will have heard the following phrase thrown about,

"be not conformed to this world, just as Christ is not of this world."

When you step back and look at the COG leadership and a lot if its ministry, one quickly sees that the church leadership is highly immersed in the world and felt the intense desire to be "seen."  If that were not so, there would be no need for campuses in Edmond, Oklahoma or Wadsworth, Ohio. There would be no need for jets and auditoriums.

Being "not of this world" never applied to church leaders, it was for the lowly masses that composed the membership of the church. Church members were prohibited for all kinds of things and were constantly berated from the pulpit as to what they would NOT be doing.

Church members were told to not worry about things in this world because God was going to fix it all in the future. Church members had no need to feed the homeless, care for the disadvantaged and work to make the lives of people more manageable. Church members were taught this for a far more selfish reason; money that would be used to feed the homeless and care for others would not be sent into the true church, thus the church would suffer financially.

Gerald Bronkar had this post on the Ambassador Alumni page regarding church members "being not of this world" and is posted here with his permission.

One of the many problems I have with Armstrongism and most of Fundamentalism is the concept that "God's Chosen People" are Not Of This World, so in whatever situation we (they) find ourselves, it is His will. YIKES!
Therefore, we should not vote or support any candidate, not join any type of military or defense organization, not join a union (or probably ask for a raise or better working conditions), not protest, not own a weapon for self protection, not stand up for ourselves and never participate in any "worldly" activity.  The "Chosen" are to shut-up and submit, because whoever is in charge is in their position because it is God's will.  YIKES again!

Be quiet and patient and trust God to fix any problem when He sees fit.. Talk about putting your life and that of your family in someone else's hands!    This is the height of the "victim mentality" so prevalent in our country today.
Can we just ignore the many despots throughout the world (and even in the business world) who wreak havoc on their citizens, employees and neighbors?
Pure lunacy!  This mind-set places the general population at the mercy of the tyrants.  If our founding fathers had this attitude, there would be no United States of America.  Are we supposed to be patient and wait for some supernatural intervention, and if so, how long?  It has been over fifty generations since Christians first began waiting on the return of a Savior.  Is there an expiration date?  How long do we wait to get involved and become responsible for our future?

It's all good. Clearing the air.

Dennis, I am David Rickman. I HATE the WCG and all the splinter groups!  I HATE ________ for the unhappiness he and that god dammed church has caused me. I once was a happy person growing up attending a pentecostal Church until I began reading that Armstrong Bull shit and began attending the Tupelo Congregation Of the worldwide church.  I am sorry for the attack that I imposed on you on this website.  I was taking my anger out on you and you did no wrong to me. For that I apologize.  I hope you can forgive my stupidity.

Response:

Hi David,

I completely understand. I have my own issues but have chosen consciously to get on with my life in the present and not the past for my own good.  It was easy to fall into as it seemed to explain a lot and they used the Bible much more than most.  I was a naive kid in the 60's and I did mean well as a minister until it just got to be too much.  All is forgiven if that needs to be.  I do understand the emotions that these kinds of things raise.

My Pastor Is Nuts; he turns heaven into hell for the church

Narcissists can make good first impressions, but they're selfish

By Dennis Diehl
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- I have felt for years that a minister, pastor or priest who in fact has mental and emotional problems can hide in the ministry for years because his quirkiness and his obedience and demands for obedience to whatever he defines as "God's laws" seem so sincere.
Many mental-illness quirks are mistaken for piety and spiritual insights. Leadership styles and public-speaking approaches that Christians would never tolerate in the workplace are encouraged in the pulpit.
A minister who is mentally imbalanced rather than spiritually inspired can wreak havoc on a congregation, and I am amazed at how often few, if any, members of the congregation will confront the problem until it has all but destroyed the church.
Therefore I'd like to politely ask pastors, priests and ministers -- you who have taken it upon yourselves to speak for God, Jesus, the apostles and the intent of Scripture -- to examine the quirkiness that drives your membership nuts and harms more than helps.

Take this test and like it

You -- who think you know the mind of God and can clearly see what the Bible wants humans everywhere to understand through you -- need to find a personality disorder test and take it.
Since you claim to know all of what God is, has done and is doing, along with the truth of every important question about things past, present and future, it's important that your church members understand the filter -- your mind -- that this information passes through before it arrives on their doorstep.
You say you know the mind of God. But do you know how your own mind works and why you inspire the reactions you do from the faithful? Do you even know how people feel about your way of being and doing? Is it just you and God against the world?
Are you mentally fit to lead and speak? Do you responsibly handle the moneys your congregants entrust to you, believing they are sending them to you to do "God's work"? Or do you teach them that, once they send it in, it is no longer their business what "God" does with it?
I recall a leading evangelist in the Worldwide Church of God telling church members that, once they sent their tithe in, Herbert W. Armstrong could throw it off a bridge if he wanted and it was not their concern.
Wrong.

What's the truth?
What about truth, justice and the American way? Do you tell the truth at all costs? Or do you improve on it now and then for your own glory rather than God's?
It's important you find out these things about yourself, because others who have gone before you have ripped the souls out of millions of would-be followers of the Eternal.
Those millions failed to take the time to ask their leaders to divulge a little bit about themselves before they got teary-eyed over the doctrines and other teachings they endeavored to superimpose over their spiritual hopes and dreams.
Mr. Minister, you're invited to see if you can see yourself in the following descriptions of mental disorders. If any of these disorders sound all too familiar to you, maybe now is the time to ask why.

Suspicious mind
o Paranoid-personality disorder: This ailment is characterized by a distrust of others and
a constant suspicion that people around you have sinister motives.
People with this disorder tend to place excessive trust in their own knowledge and abilities and usually avoid close relationships.
They search for hidden meanings in everything and read hostile intentions into the actions of others.
They are quick to challenge the loyalties of friends and loved ones and often appear cold and distant. They usually shift blame to other people and tend to carry long grudges.
Its symptoms also include an unwillingness to forgive perceived insults; distrust and excessive self-reliance; projection of blame onto others; a consuming anticipation of betrayal; combative and tenacious concern for personal rights; and relentless suspicion.
A minister with this disorder may believe the brethren are always talking about him behind his back and may blame all his problems on someone else.

Odd forms
o Schizotypal-personality disorder: Many believe that someone with the schizotypal personality has a mild case of schizophrenia. This disorder is characterized by odd forms of thinking and perceiving. Folks with this malady often seek isolation from others.
They sometimes believe they have extrasensory abilities or that unrelated events relate to each other and to them in some important way.
They engage in eccentric behavior and have difficulty concentrating for long periods. Their speech is often overelaborate and difficult to follow.
Symptoms also include odd or eccentric mannerisms or appearance, superstitious or other preoccupation with paranormal phenomena, difficult-to-follow speech patterns, feelings of anxiety in social situations, suspicion, shyness, aloofness.
Some of these symptoms might explain the tie, collar, robes or crown you wear during sermons. It might also explain the quasi-Jewish paraphernalia in the form of phylacteries and tassels that have found a home in your wardrobe.
These symptoms might also help us understand why we can't understand what the heck you're getting at in your sermons or how you wrested a particular idea out of Scripture.

Lacking social graces
o Antisocial-personality disorder: A common misconception is that "antisocial personality" refers to people who lack the social graces.
The opposite is often the case. Indeed, antisocial-personality disorder is characterized by a lack of conscience. People with symptoms are prone to criminal behavior, believing their victims weak and deserving of being taken advantage of.
Antisocials tend to lie and steal. Often they are careless with money and take action without thinking about consequences. They are sometimes aggressive and are much more concerned with their own needs than the needs of others.
Symptoms include disregard for the feelings of others; impulsive and irresponsible decision-making; a lack of remorse for harm done to others; lying; stealing; other criminal behavior; and disregard for the safety of self and others.
If you have an antisocial personality, that might explain your cruelty to church members or anyone who questions you, or it may be a clue as to why most of the members of your congregation are reduced to tears when they question your stewardship of their money.
It might also explain why you think you need a ministerial bus, or even a small jet aircraft, for your travels around the country.
It could even explain why you made fun of the guy who wasn't able to come to church and then died at home without your taking time to visit and encourage him.

In and out of the mood
o Borderline-personality disorder: A borderline personality is characterized by mood instability and a poor self-image.
People with this disorder are prone to constant mood swings and bouts of anger. Often they take their anger out on themselves, inflicting injury on their own body.
Suicidal threats and actions are not uncommon.
Borderlines think in stark black and white terms and often form intense, conflict-ridden relationships. They are quick to anger when their expectations are not met.
Symptoms also include attempted suicide or other self-injury; strong feelings of anger, anxiety or depression that last for several hours; impulsive behavior; drug or alcohol abuse; feelings of low self-worth; and unstable relationships with friends, family and boyfriends or girlfriends.
Your borderline personality might help us understand why you yell all the time or are so darn negative in sermons about everyone and everything on this beautiful planet.
It might even help us to understand why you disappear on missionary trips or evangelistic journeys for weeks at a time or your visits with brethren we have never heard of in places we have to look up.

The next stage
o Histrionic-personality disorder: People with histrionic personalities are constant attention seekers. They need to be the center of attraction, often interrupting others so they can dominate the conversation.
They use grandiose language to describe everyday events and seek to garner constant praise.
They may dress provocatively or exaggerate illnesses to gain attention.
Histrionic types also tend to exaggerate friendships and relationships, believing that everyone loves them. They are often manipulative.
Symptoms include rapidly shifting and shallow emotions; exaggerated friendliness; and overly dramatic and occasionally theatrical speech. Histrionics are easily influenced and highly suggestible.
Whoa! If we realize you're a histrionic personality, we might then understand why nothing we say is good enough for you or correct and why you make such mountains out of our molehills. We might also understand why you think the whole world is just amazed at your wonderful self.

Good first impressions
Narcissistic-personality disorder: Narcissistic-personality disorder is characterized by self-centeredness.
Like histrionic disorder, people with this ailment seek attention and praise. They exaggerate the number and worth of their achievements, expecting others to honor them as superior.
They tend to be choosy about picking friends, since they believe that not just anyone is worthy of being their friend.
Narcissists can make good first impressions, yet they have difficulty maintaining long-lasting relationships. They are generally not interested in the feelings of others and may take advantage of them.
They crave praise and admiration, have a grandiose sense of self-importance, lack empathy, lie to themselves and others and may be obsessed with fantasies of fame, power or beauty.
How many narcissists does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Just one. He holds the bulb and the whole world revolves around him.
If you're a narcissist, Mr. Minister, that may explain why we have to call you "Mr." and why the in-group you surround yourself with seems to quit working for you or gets thrown out every month or so.

Everything right
o Obsessive-compulsive–personality disorder (OCPD): While OCPD is similar in name to obsessive-compulsive–anxiety disorder, the two are not the same.
People with OCPD are overly focused on orderliness and perfection. Their need to do everything "right" often interferes with their productivity.
They tend to get caught up in the details and miss the bigger picture.
They set unreasonably high standards for themselves and others and tend to be critical of people when they do not live up to their high standards.
They avoid working in teams, believing others to be too careless or incompetent.
They avoid making decisions because they fear making mistakes and are rarely generous with their time or money. They often have difficulty expressing emotion.
Symptoms include a need for perfection and excessive discipline, a preoccupation with orderliness, inflexibility, a lack of generosity, a hyperfocus on details and rules, and excessive devotion to work.
If you're an OCPD person, maybe that's why no one is ever good enough in your church or tries hard enough to become perfect.
We might then understand why you rant in every sermon about "God's law" and Jesus' imminent return with a rod of iron. Heck, a hug would be better, don't you think?
We'd also come close to understanding why once you make up your mind it never changes and why you brag about all the work you do for the church. It could also explain both your and our ulcers.

Friendly advice
If you decide to consider a personality test, please print the results in your local church's bulletin. Even taking the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test would be helpful.
I recommended this to WCG administrators and got an instant no.
That told me a lot right there. However, taking the Myers-Briggs survey would be only fair, since lives, emotions, finances, faith, hope and love depend on whether you really do speak for God, Jesus and the apostles or would just like to be the boss of the world.
"Know thyself" was good advice in ancient times and is still valuable counsel today.

What about Dennis?
I know, I know. What about you, Dennis?
That's a fair question. Here is the result of my own personality outlook, according to a well-known personality test: Paranoid: low. Schizoid: low. Antisocial: low. Borderline: low. Histrionic: low. Narcissistic: low. Avoidant: low. Dependent: low. Obsessive-compulsive: low.
I also turned out to be an ENFP according to Myers-Briggs. That's Extrovert, Intuitive, Feeling and Perceptive.
That's the same as 2 percent of the population.
ENFP types like myself make good negotiators, counselors, pastors and massage therapists.
Alas, the first three didn't work all that well in my experience as a pastor in the Wild World Church of God. I'm presently doing okay in the fourth one.
