Musings: The Problem With Faith

The Problem With Faith: 11 Ways Religion Is Destroying Humanity

http://churchandstate.org.uk/2015/10/the-problem-with-faith-11-ways-religion-is-destroying-humanity/

NOTE: I have posted only part of each point to keep the post short enough to maintain interest. The article adds much more to each concept for those so inclined.

======================

"Religion has been a part of humanity since the first astronomers peered into the sky and created elaborate stories to define the movements of our universe. It made its way into our minds as we fearfully created devils and demons to explain the danger lurking in the darkness of night. It has both enchanted and burdened us as we attempt to define our world with the information available to us as we work our way through history.

However, things are quickly changing. For a growing number of us worldwide, what was once indescribable is now easily explained by the vast data we have gathered as we work towards refining our understanding. We are becoming painfully aware that, although our religions gave us a starting place for thinking about how our world functions, they no longer serve us in that process; and in fact, have left a trail of destruction in their historic path.

1.) The assumption of truth.

Most of our world’s major religions each assume that it is their faith alone that is the “absolute truth” and refuse to concede that those traditions may be mistaken. Instead, they discover ways to force conflicting information to adapt to their own doctrine; no matter how effective the evidence is at actually disproving the rationality of that particular religion.

Many religious adherents have no problem understanding the irrationality of others beliefs, but are unable to apply the same logic when observing their own doctrine. Instead, every effort is made to justify why it is their – and only their – religion that is void of any fault...

2.) The promise of reward.

The faith of many followers hinges on the idea that there is some reward for devotion to their deity. For the Islamic gentleman, it is a promise of virgins after death. For the Christian, it is a perfect place of infinite peace and comfort. For Hindus, it is escaping the grueling task of reincarnation; and for the Buddhist it is reaching Nirvana.

How many of these same enthusiasts would subscribe to their religion if there were not a reward for their commitment? Without a reward, the faith does not carry the same power to control its congregate. There must be a conclusion to every religious story – a reason for carrying the belief to its completion.

It’s not difficult to understand why this is necessary for the ongoing functioning of a religion. Human beings are rarely motivated to commit to anything without a reward for their commitment...

3.) The superiority complex.

Religion enables people to act callously and inflict mental punishment on those they label “evil” without consequence to their hatred; and then permits them to honestly believe that their hatred is defensible as “good moral conduct”.

4.) The usefulness of control.

Most religious supporters are not mindful of the fear that has been instilled in them, often from birth. It is a fear that is so subtle that it goes undetected for much of the follower’s life. It is so deeply embedded that it is not even recognized as fear, but as truth; when in reality, it is a most destructive form of control.

5.) The distraction of division.

As most propagandists understand, by separating individuals from their peers, they are usually able to think more clearly and logically about the information being presented to them. However, when consistently surrounded by their peers, if they are not cautious, they may likely fall prey to being persuaded into believing a “truth” that is not true at all. Religion depends on this human herd mentality in order to maintain its stronghold. When you keep a person within a specific religion, reinforce the ideas of that group and then make everyone else outside of the group somehow immoral, maintaining control of hatred towards others is effortless. The best way to do this is by teaching followers the religion’s concepts from birth; and then reinforcing those ideas throughout the entirety of their life.

6.) The threat of theocracy.

Many individuals who support religious leaders and concepts do not realize the impact that a theocracy will have on their own lives and freedoms. Some people simply follow certain political and religious leaders and trust that they have their best interest in mind; but, in reality, the agenda they support will both further corrupt and further oppress their own country and its people.

7.) The illusion of love.

Is it? There may be some parts that describe love and encourage positive relationships amongst members of the human race; but, what about all the other parts? Are we to ignore some things and only identify with the good?

Here is the problem: Many of our most revered religious texts have hundreds of verses where the deity of the story literally instructs people to abduct and rape young girls whose family members they have just murdered, kill disobedient children, kill disobedient women, commit genocide and infanticide, subdue and silence women, commit incest, oppress mass communities, force marriage on rape victims, torture people, enslave people and loot and pillage entire societies. All by the instruction of or in the name of their god.

Here is the bigger problem: It’s one thing that these words are written, but it is a terrifying thought that many people in this world actually excuse this behavior simply because a god they worship did it or authorized it.

8.) Justification for inequality.

A simple and honest study of our world’s theocracies (and countries such as America where those issues are being debated) reveals how our holy texts are used to discriminate against women, LGBTs, and foreigners. Our top three world religions’ texts are full of discrimination against these groups. In fact, it is openly used as justification for that discrimination.

Religion facilitates erroneous rationalization of the attempts to remove basic rights from others. It prevents people from living in peace as a community and within their own lives. It forces entire groups of people to work tirelessly to create and preserve rights that should be available to them already.

9.) The subjugation of advancement.

We are moving towards a time where we no longer need to base our ideas on things that we cannot see or explain (faith). We can explain much more than ever and our ability to explain our world is expanding rapidly.

Now that science can explain our world, we no longer need mythology to do it for us.

We have a plethora of information available to us today. Information that enables us to become aware of the origins of our religions, the origins and functionings of our planet and of our universe. We understand how weather works and that it is not simply the anger of our gods being poured upon us as our early ancestors believed. We can interpret weather patterns, send people into space, and predict future atmospheric, economic, planetary and biological disruptions and much much more.

Unfortunately, religion has never been much a friend to human knowledge and advancement. Even now we are plagued by leaders who seek to oppress our access to and progression of our knowledge. Religion is known for insisting that it is not humankind’s place to understand things – to seek knowledge of our world. In fact, it makes seeking that understanding wrong and it’s not difficult to find followers who will even quote text supporting why we should not explore our world, ask questions and look for answers.

This is a religious tactic that keeps people in ignorance; and it has worked for thousands of years.

10.) The fear of “end times”.

For thousands of years, religion has used the fear of “end times” to control the masses. What began as mythology that told gruesome stories of a horrific end to our world has evolved into periodic religious mania over an impending doom lurking above the future of humanity.

Fortunately, we have grown enough in our understanding to realize that prophesies of war, famine, atmospheric disruptions, pandemics and expulsion of redundant belief structures are effortless formulations when one comprehends that these occurrences have been and will remain a repetitive element of the human experience. In other words – it is not difficult to predict the future when you understand how human beings think and how nature functions. Anyone who understands the natural world and the mind of human beings can make a fairly accurate prediction of what will occur 10, 20, 100 or even 5,000 years from now. History does repeat itself. Nature repeats itself. This is the cyclical part of life – when you understand the cycle, you are never shocked by the result.

The problem is, we are still living amongst an assortment of end times theories and religious fables that insist we are living in that time

11.) The oppression of terror.

It would be easy for some to look at the violence in religion today and point fingers at one specific religion. The propagandist that dominate many of our mainstream news outlets ensure this. But, the truth is, many of our religions have already asserted themselves through force and violence in the past. This is not merely a modern problem."

Humanity’s most vicious ambitions have been carried out in the name of gods no one has ever seen and beliefs followers are not willing to question and investigate. Until humankind learns to more closely examine their beliefs, wars waged in ignorance will continue to plague our species and prevent lasting peace.

Error Prone Biased False Prophet Says AI Is As Error Prone As He is

In yet another attempt to not have to discuss Jesus or anything he accomplished our favorite error-prone false prophet is back complaining how artificial intelligence will deceive many. Yep, you read that right, one of the biggest error-filled liars the church has today is complaining about AI as error-prone. Talk about gaslighting members!

The Great Bwana Bob Mzungu Thiel considers himself so special that he is set apart from ALL present Church of God leaders and all who have preceded him. No one as magnificent as he is has ever been revealed to the church like he is today. There has been no human leader since Abraham walked this earth who is filled with as much worldly knowledge and spiritual insights as we have in the Great Bwana. He considered himself so special that he is incapable of making a mistake or uttering a false word. No church leader has been filled with more spiritual truth than he has.

Bwana Bob Mzungu believes that since he is so magnificent it means that Satan, the Prince of the power of the air, is going to be so pissed off at him that he is going to use artificial intelligence to deceive people into thinking he, The Bob has uttered certain things.

The Great Bwana Bob Mzungu quotes a fringe conspiracy-laden site that features a quote from Henry Kissinger on Artificial Intelligence:

Henry Kissinger: AI Will Replace Humans within 5 Years
October 29, 2023

Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger has declared that artificial intelligence (AI) will replace humans within the next five years.

Kissinger, a member of the globalist World Economic Forum (WEF), asserts that AI dominance will be the “biggest challenge” humans will face.

According to a report published on Insider, Kissinger made the comments during an interview with Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer. …

Experts have pointed out that most white-collar jobs are in danger of being replaced by AI.
Workers in sectors such as technology, media, law, and customer service are especially at risk.
100-year-old Kissinger said he believes that AI will become so dominant that humans could end up serving machines. Henry Kissinger: AI Will Replace Humans within 5 Years

In spite of years worth of deceiving Christians with his nonsense, The Bob has preached several so-called sermons about AI. Nothing about Jesus and how people don't need to worry about such worthless crap as Bob's speculations. The Bob's sermons are nothing more than brain dumps of useless information. It never contains anything of spiritual worth for anyone.

Is AI in the Bible?

The Bible refers to a place that was ruined in the Book of Joshua called “Ai.” Are there any parallels to what is known as Artificial Intelligence (AI)? What did Joe Kovacs say about that? Are there any risks to AI, such as those warned about by Elon Musk? Are common AI sources like ChatGPT and Bing AI always reliable? Are there certain passages in the Bible, such as prophecies related to the militaristic Beast and Antichrist in the Book of Revelation, that point to the use of AI in the end times? Is the use of computer software consistent with the prophecies of the 666 Beast power? Does the New Testament have warnings of impostors deceiving? Is it possible that demons and AI will be involved in the end time? Will the nations of this world fight Jesus upon His return? Could AI affect and deceive humans? Dr. Thiel and Steve Dupuie address these matters.

Bwana Bob Mzungu is one of the deceivers of the brethren that the Bible warns Christians about. Bwana Bob Mzungu is right there beside Dave Pack, Gerald Flurry, Ron Weinland, Gerald Weston, and other COG leaders currently deceiving the brethren. They are imposters trying to portray themselves as agents of light and truth. None of them are doing this, particularly Bwana Bob Mzungu.

Ron "Weinerdude" Weinland, The First Witless Witness Abandoning His Europe Fantasy

Old Ronnie has always had his sights set upon Europe where imagines he and his loonie wife Laura will spend 3 1/2 years as the Two Witless Witnesses proclaiming some weird nonsense as a "gospel" message to Europe before his angry god comes down and kicks ass.

Before he was sent to prison for tax evasion, he had his loonie wife fill her fat fingers up with several large carat diamonds rings that they could reportedly cash in once they arrived in Europe to fund their stupid ministry.

Much like the loser Dave Pack and his inability to make accurate predictions, Weinerdude does not know how things will play out in the future. So, he is planning next years Feast sites back here in the U.S. instead of in Jerusalem where he thought he was going to start his witless witnessing.

So as I was saying earlier, we’re considering for next year planning to have that primary area where I will be located within, somewhere within the United States, not in Europe. So, Europe will be a smaller site this next year, at least according to the planning at this point, and then we’ll go from there. What a blessing if we didn’t have to come together in this partcular manner, but in a greater manner.

But we’ll see what transpired in the following year. Everything is in God’s timing, but looking at world events, seeing what’s happening in the world, just by the Thunders themselves it’s one of the primary signs of those things we have now that God has given to us to recognize this is what we watch more than anything else because these are the things that are happening in the world as they become stronger. Because it has to be of the same nature than as a woman in travail, as it says in scripture, but in labor with a child, getting ready to have birth. Those things go along with what’s taking place with and has been taking place within the Thunders.

It’s an awesome process to watch take place in the world. We’re watching these things, we’re observing these things, and seeing how horrible the world is becoming as it goes through all of this.

Can anyone imagine any of the current crop of crazy COG leaders being one of the two witnesses? What a cruel joke God is playing on the world if any of these fools are ever became such a thing!

Dave Pack ...we ran through a lotta drills which prepared me to see all kinds of things very quickly because I’m so familiar with the Scriptures.

Drill Them With Blindness

David C. Pack is willing to exploit the war in Israel for his own gain. He is willing to take to himself the titles belonging to Jesus Christ. He is willing to threaten brethren in The Restored Church of God with an eternal death penalty for doing what he makes a habit of.

He is increased with the Campus goods of horses and ceiled houses, so he has need of nothing. He bleeds the brethren with Common, making merchandise of them. He is unteachable, uncorrectable, ever-learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

David C. Pack surrounds himself with hirelings who care not for the sheep. Headquarters is a nest of vipers and a den of spiritual thieves. The entire organization is a corrupt tree, bringing forth corrupt fruit by corrupting the word of God.

David C. Pack’s vain mouth multiplies words without knowledge. He is proud, knowing nothing. Speaking presumptuously, he walks after the imagination of his own foolish heart about visions that are not from the Lord.

There is no fear of God before his eyes.

This is not a drill.

During “The Greatest Unending Story! (Part 476)” on October 21, 2023, David C. Pack warmed up the audience with promises of a wild ride.

Part 476 – October 21, 2023

@ 00:08 This may be (I don’t think I’ve used this word before) kind of a momentous sermon.

Momentous. Kind of.

Dave is always excited to present new angles for excusing biblical miscarriages and recycled concepts.

@ 05:22 Now, for eight years, we’ve been doing various drills.

@ 05:36 It's been helpful to me, and I've used it in private conversations. But, there are drills we have gone through.

Dave is not a proven false prophet. The past ten years have been intentional practice for the big game.

@ 06:09 We would come back and look it again. I once called it “trial and error,” but it would it’s almost more of a natural product of doing drills.

This must have brought a sigh of relief to field hirelings like Brian Jackson and Larry Cockshutt since they have already long burned through their best buzz phrases to blow off tough questions from concerned members.

@ 07:39 So, brethren, in many regards, we ran through a lotta drills. Some of them the same but they would vary slightly. And I can look back now and realize it prepared me to see all kinds of things very quickly because I’m so familiar with the Scriptures.

It is too bad he cannot see all kinds of things very accurately. Come on, Dave. Your entire career rests on you accomplishing a singular task, and you cannot get that one tiny little thing right. Have ANYTHING you have said come to pass.

But, if David C. Pack were right even once, the entire world would shift on its axis.

@ 08:26 So, we're going to look at certain things that we’ve drilled on but never quite seen the way they would apply.

This is a fancy way of saying, “This will sound painfully familiar, but don’t worry because I have a slightly different take on old ideas that will pointlessly absorb the sum of your Sabbath and will be irrelevant within seven days.”

David soiled himself when a bald eagle circled the Campus for a few minutes. I was disappointed he did not remind brethren that the Giant Eagle supermarket is next door to Headquarters. That was a real point a few years ago.

@ 17:42 I should just plant that account in your mind before I tell you why I think that bird came and what I learned in the Scriptures two days before I saw it. And it’s been ten years since I’ve, you know, seen an eagle on Campus.

Dave sees his own shadow and knows there will be six more weeks of winter.

Pastor General David Crowl Pack is not a man of his word. Is that an accusation or observation? Lonnie Hendrix wrote an interesting article for Banned by HWA on that topic.

Part 459 – July 15, 2023

@ 1:25:33 And it has struck me from time to time when the Bible seems to pull you toward a particular time (and it does), if you nail that day down, it strikes me as particularly arrogant.

Part 474 – October 7, 2023 [The Last Great Day]

@ 1:24:02 So, I don’t know how long we’re gonna go. It’s not my job. I’ve often wondered, Is it my job to explain what the Mystery of God is? There’s nothing that says I foretell a date. I’ve wondered if I should for all the reasons I’ve explained. So, every evidence is Elijah’s about to sound…

If his words were true, why are brethren in The Restored Church of God anticipating tomorrow morning?

The Kingdom of God Arrives on October 29, 2023

at Sunset in Jerusalem – 9:52 AM ET

Part 476 – October 21, 2023

@ 1:09:10 It’s interesting. Before the year begins, before Elijah appears as the Messenger of the Covenant, it says he’s like a refiner’s fire and fullers’ soap before the year began. Have we understood that correctly?

You should know the drill by now. When he poses a question that way, the apparent answer is implied.

@ 1:13:43 Let’s imagine the Kingdom of God and the Day of the Lord come next Cheshvan 1. That would be November 1 next year [2024]. Let’s just imagine that.

Dave transitions from imagining to teaching within twenty minutes. Who could have guessed that a wooden ruler art project would hold the key to determining what “the midst of the years” finally means?

@ 1:34:39 Last Cheshvan 1, 2022 (of the first two years) was October 25th. Right here [on ruler]. 2022. Next Cheshvan 1, two years later, is November 1st, 2024.

@ 1:36:23 God is saying dead middle right down the center of those two years because now we know it’s after the Feast. So, you gotta go 369 days forward from last October 25th. Or 369 days backward from next November 1st

When Dave stood up, the camera was forced to either stare at his crotch or show a sparsely-populated Main Hall on the Sabbath. You can have fun counting the empty chairs.

The only bright side to this picture is that Dr. Ranney is still in town. Maybe he got a reprieve from being cast out of the state alongside Ken Orel. With Ken out of the picture (literally), Jaco Viljoen still gets to be the Headquarters Pastor, which is good news for the local congregation.

@ 1:36:45 And you’ll get when it’s game on. Can’t go to another year. Impossible.

@ 1:37:06 So, when is the midst of the year? When is it? It’s October 29th. One week from tomorrow morning at sundown in Jerusalem. One week from tomorrow morning. But it's Cheshvan 15. The start of Cheshvan 15.

So much for making a declarative statement and holding himself accountable.

Part 471 – September 30, 2023

@ 1:43:41 I just don’t know. And I’m not here to tell you the day. I’ll never do it again. I’ll never do it again.

Nobody in The Restored Church of God holds David C. Pack accountable. Not for the words he says. Not for the actions he takes.

Part 476 – October 21, 2023

@ 1:41:17 So, you can decide if the Goodman eventually came to understand when Christ would come.

Considering Dave pushed off and then canceled Part 477 during the week, you can rest assured the brethren of The Restored Church of God have more time. Today, even Dave will have to admit, in some fashion, that he did NOT eventually come to understand when Christ would come. But NOW he does.

Despite the RCG philosophy of "It's not a failure, it's a drill, " the countdown timer on exrcg.org will continue even when the winds of doctrine change direction this afternoon.

This may be the last time you ever see this visual aid at the table. So, soak it in.

Dave was still aflutter about the war in Israel being a metric when he let something fall from his lips.

@ 10:01 Now, I wanna give you a little bit a news because, obviously, that [Hamas attacking Israel] was almost exactly fifteen days ago. That dawn is gonna turn out to be very important. But some things just developed upstairs right before dinner, and I wanted to talk to you about them.

*****

Question: What event occurred at the Headquarters of The Restored Church of God on October 21, 2023, right before dinner?

Answer: Sabbath Services.

*****

Sabbath Services were in progress right before dinner. Upstairs in the Third Floor Executive Imaginarium is where Dave and his broken lackeys hang out to escape holy convocations because those are not meant for them. Watching the news on the projector screen is more important than obeying God.

This is the pattern I witnessed for eight years in the Headquarter's Main Hall. Dave cannot be found so doing during Sabbath Services, but all eyes shall see him at the dining table feeding his face. He skips the Service but not the meal. That is his pattern.

Call me a liar, Brad. Oh…sorry. I keep forgetting that Brad no longer reads these ineffective articles.

Everyone else, you have two options to consider:

1) You can choose to believe that Dave requested Coffee Kid and/or Pepper Boy to go upstairs during Sabbath Services to monitor the news so only they would defy the command of God to assemble on the Sabbath that is even more crucial because they “see the day approaching” while Dave chose to sit at the back of the room, fully aware and present, taking diligent notes from the sermonette and sermon delivered by lesser men so that he could soon review those same notes allowing the spiritual food he desperately needed to be ingrained in his mind.

OR

2) Dave again blew off the commanded assembly, thumbed his nose at God, saying, "You better give me salvation as I rebel against your Feast" [Part 472 @ 1:02:15], and willfully withdrew himself from a holy convocation that he just threatened brethren with eternal death for doing themselves so he could watch TV and prepare news articles for his kind of momentous message.

If you believe the first option, you have not spent any significant time at Headquarters.

David C. Pack has wasted the last ten years drilling false ideas into the heads of the brethren. Members of The Restored Church of God are conditioned to believe the road to salvation is paved with false starts, vain repetition, and countless disappointments.

They are not practicing drills that will prepare them for the coming of Jesus Christ. They are letting a false prophet presumptuously preach while unimpeded by accountability and enabled by cowardly hirelings.

The Bible explains who and what David C. Pack is. The warnings before their eyes are not a drill.
