Will probably get lots of content. I am in my 50's. It took me a long time to get over the hang ups and self loathing that I developed while enduring my growing up in Worldwide. It was a difficult journey to say the least.
Just about being a second generation WCG, or for anyone with harrowing experiences there?
After having been vomitted on for a decade by the nimkompoops here I am pleased to see a PHD in "The relationship between the CIA and Hollywood" being cited in relation to WCG. experiences.
This is as much fun to me as seeing the Pope explaining how the Jewish faith lay at the root of the Catholic Church. In the end everyone will live like Armstrongists. As someone said lately. HWA was completely right on the "big trends" affecting us all. The only thing I did for the past decade was to add that this is because it was established long time American Foreign Policy......

This is all well and good, but it comes on a very sad weekend. Saturday morning, I could not believe my eyes as I learned of the passing of Taylor Hawkins, the incredibly talented and charismatic drummer for the Foo Fighters. Taylor was very unique in that his constant smile let everyone experience the joy he felt while playing the drums, and he was a very powerful drummer! I initially became interested in the Foo Fighters because of the presence of Dave Grohl and Pat Smear of Nirvana, but very quickly my attentions were drawn to the drummer. His sudden death at age 50 while still very much in his prime is a reminder that none of us can really know how much time we have on the planet. The one takeaway which comes to mind in light of our own experiences is that it's best to discover what we do well and to go about doing it, not allowing others to take control or co-opt us with fear motivation, theories, lies, and their own little lists of dos and don'ts. Live life fully, and reject the bogus controllers who will diminish and exploit you!

Interesting. I look forward to this podcast. Maybe I'll even reach out to them. I spent my entire life in the cult until I was in my 30s. It nearly killed me. It's taken years to learn how to manage the trauma. Only recently have I arrived at the point where I can almost talk comfortably about it.
Words of wisdom from an old Southern buddy of mine pretty much sum up the situation with nck: "His only problem is that he's a Yankee!"
Wife and I were disfellowshipped on April Fools Day 1985--two years out of AC (graduated as Student Body VP, wife women's club overall president). No longer believed--but had grown up in the church so was not anxious to separate from friends. Selmer Hegvold was in my living room raising his hand and pointing his finger at me saying "I hand you over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh" (Sounds a bit medieval doesn't it? Also, he pointed to my daughter and said, "Because of YOU, she will have to go through the great tribulation). None of this affected me--I no longer believed and they no longer had me by the b@lls. After several years as the church was breaking up, gradually got integrated with old friends again. Once the dam burst and people left in droves--I had to remind my friends how much money I had saved over the years!
