Be Seen, Not Heard

God's greatest prophet to ever exist in human history posted a 1962 article by Leroy Neff the other day, Do Unconverted People Know That You Are A Christian? It is a pretty bold move for Bwana Beto Bob to post this considering how badly he represents Christianity, especially from what the last few paragraphs have to say:

Be SEEN Not HEARD

If we are the light of the world, the people will see it, even though they may not comprehend it now, or recognize why, now; but later they will remember that we were different, that there were no others like us. They will then remember that in addition to our living example of love, we did obey the living God. They will realize that our “fruits” came from our relationship with God and because we had God’s Holy Spirit. They will then cry out to God in repentance and receive the same Holy Spirit that we have received.

We must let our light shine. Our light is our good works (Matthew 5:16), that light is SEEN of men.
By this way people may know that we are Christ’s disciples and that we are true Christians. There is no other way now for the world and for our unconverted friends and relatives to know.

Don’t falsely assume that Sabbath-keeping, discipline in the home, obedience, or rejection of pagan customs are signs to the unbeliever. Let us have love and kindness that bring forth GOOD WORKS which others can see as Christian attributes in our daily lives.

“Let your light so shine before men. that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Editor’s note: While in times of persecution we will need to be more discrete, yes, Christians should be diligent and live differently enough from the world, that we will be a proper example.

Never has the church had a splinter leader that CANNOT shut up about himself than what we have today with Beto Thiel. The endless rushing wind of his self-congratulatory nature keeps blowing out that candle he needs to let others see shining brightly. His vanity and narcissism overshadow any positive thing he has to say, which is not much.

Dear Bobo:

Matthew 6:2--
…2So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.…

To his credit, Bob has sent more laptop computers and seeds to Africa than all the other visitors to this board combined.

To his discredit, he has sent the stuff to secure members' feigned loyalty and to brag about it to other ACOGs he seeks to brand as Laodicean.

I beg everyone's pardon in advance for this.

I think Bob needs to get laid! He is so uptight and self righteous all the time. Lighten up, BOB. Life is beautiful with Jesus!

10:01 "To his credit, Bob has sent more laptop computers and seeds to Africa than all the other visitors to this board combined."

Computers are sent for only one purpose by Bob, it is so that his leaders there can read HIS literature and preach HIS teachings. Giving laptops to his African followers does nothing to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ because Jesus is not part of the message. His followers there do not care about the endless nonsense topics he preaches on. None of Bob's sermons have anything to do with salvation or being a follower of Christ.

How do you know that no one reading this blog has not done so? The church I go to and members give huge amounts of money to buy cattle, chickens, grain, food, and LAPTOPS for Christians in underdeveloped countries.

My children's youth group raises money to help with clean water wells and pumps in Africa. When has a COG group ever done that (other than Vic Kubik's organization)?

Yes but 12:49 what do you do in your own community? Do you open a food pantry down the street, do you or your church adopt a family that is truly struggling that is not in the church? What do you do locally to bring a positive light to your local congregation to your organization? If someone met you on the street would they recognize you or your fellow members for the good you have done? It's all so hazy and ethereal to say you've sent laptops and goats and cows to Third World nations, and that's all good! But it's the small things which are big things to the people you impact directly. That, will bring in new members and inevitably more revenue to spread your message.

The answer to that is YES, we do things here locally. Our church allows a select few to live on the church property and have been given lockers for storing personal items, and bathroom facilities. These people then become the eyes and ears of the church at night keeping drug dealers and others off the property. Once a week we have a mobile shower trailer come by so the homeless can shower and get cleaned up. Around 40-50 people take advantage of that service. A couple young local barbers come and cut hair for free and give shaves to the men. It is wonderful to watch their self-worth rise afterward.

We have a homeless food ministry that feeds several hundred people each week. On Sundays before church, a local upscale restaurant gives us breakfast bags with food to go. These same people are more than welcome to sit next to us in the pews for worship. At least two of these people are on the welcome/usher teams.

Our church participants in local homeless shelters do outreach and regularly go and cook for families that are transitioning from the street to affordable housing.

Every two weeks a mobile laundry wagon comes to the church and we do the laundry for the homeless, free of charge.

Before school each year we make up backpacks for over 100 children that are filled with school supplies.
Each winter we do a winter coat drive and gather coasts and blankets for the homeless.

During Advent, we hold an Advent market where charities come in that provide goats, cows, clean water supplies, and other necessities to those in Africa. We have orphanages in Haiti and Mexico present that people can "buy" gifts from that, in turn, help destitute people there. Around $70,000 is raised for these charities during this one-day 5 hour event.

We also have taken in Syrian refugees and others that need housing, transportation, clothing, and food as they transition to a new culture.

We also have a team of members who go out and take care of local parishioners and others that cannot come to the church taking food and communion to them. We provide transportation to Doctors and other medical transportation. Others we just go sit and visit with for a few hours. Watching their faces light up as we walk in makes it all worthwhile.

My wife and 5 children also do this, age 5 -16.

Anything else you want to know?

In my experience, you must not be any of the WCG spin-offs.

Perhaps Bob's real struggle is the one we all face. Relevancy. Part of that is being able to relate (back and forth) to the people in our targeted audience. You really can't be an elitist (and a bad one at that!) and expect to strike a common chord with a broad cross section of humanity. A teacher is so much more than an individual with facts, or an authoritarian with laws. Really good teachers find a way to tie it all together, to bring it all home, and to show how the knowledge they share can improve the quality of your life, or the effectiveness you enjoy in your career. They make the learning experience memorable.

Even this ironic latest screed from him is stiff-jointed. Christians live the life. It's natural and flows. But, anyone with half a brain realizes it immediately if someone is deliberately trying to set an example.

Thiel likes to reference HWA. HWA often spoke of the square peg in a round hole. Bob really needs to pursue a different profession or avocation. I have no idea what his real talents actually are, but they obviously have nothing to do with being a prophet, or any sort of teacher. There would have been some sort of growth curve for him by now, one so obvious that he wouldn't even need contrived statistics. He misses the mark that badly! It's like he's trying to turn Megan Thee Stallion's fans on to Dion and the Belmonts. Not gonna happen!

Good job. Definitely not an Armstrongite.
