RCG Member Leaves $700,000 To Church, Dave Then Smears Man In Sermon

During "The Greatest Untold Story! (Part 536)" September 18, 2024, David C. Pack of The Restored Church of God explained that Common (the teaching to "sell all") is a command from God,
like keeping the Sabbath.

He explained that a member who died left all his money to the church, but he would get no credit in God's sight because the man did not act in faith.

Mario Furtado died in February 2024 and left RCG his estate valued at $700,000.

Dave then accused him of "not giving a dime" while he was alive.

Every member of The Restored Church of God gives at least 20% each year and another 10% every three years. This is on top of Holy Day offerings, fundraisers, and free-will offerings.

If Dave applied the same standards to himself as he applies to his hapless followers, he would be living in a shack on the wrong side of the tracks, would be eating beans and driving a junker of a car, and getting his clothes at Goodwill or Savers, so that all of his disposable cash could go to common!

So much for leading by example! I am sure his own account with God is in extreme negative territory.

There are no RCG "members". Only Dave's codependents!

Notice how Dave ignores the truth that leaving an inheritance to your heirs IS a Biblical command for all time (Proverbs 13:22). Dave has a pick-and-choose religion, where he only picks the things that will benefit Dave.

In today's economy, a $700,000 estate is often not "vast riches." Quite often, it's "a house." Unless Dave expects his members to live in tents in homeless encampments, he had better get used to the reality that RCG members are going to have some home equity when they die. Ironically, it's those members whose mortgages are paid off who are more able to give Dave more generous offerings.

"Other than his tithes..." Mr. Pack adds in the clip.

As much as you might oppose his teaching, you should quote him accurately.

And I'm not sure why the donor's name is being revealed in this post. Did he want it kept anonymous?

What an asshole

It's time to lose faith in the people who preach faith.

He would be eating beans ... like me.

He is a thief and a murderer who enters in by the back door

According to the OT, Levites are not to own any property or inheritance.

It seems you don't understand. To Pack, common is no less binding of an obligation than tithing. If you only tithe, you're like a Jew, not a Christian.

If a person must leave assets to a cause beyond any immediate family, they are much better advised to leave their assets to a worthwhile cause, of which there are many - such as refuges and help for the poor, many other good charities - than the greedy and false alleged one true churches trying to find a meaning spreading false prophecies post the false apostle.

A trait that all bullies have and hide from potential victims is the belief that it's a crime that others are alive.Their victims don't deserve anything good in life, and they crave to make their lives a living hell. Dave is no exception.

Levites got allotted specific towns and cities and pastureland within the land given by God to the different tribes. Leviticus 25:32 describes this.
Jeremiah 32:6 talks of Jeremiah himself a levitical priest buying the field of his uncle.
Then in Acts 4:36 Barbara's a levite sold his field and gave the money from the sale to the apostles.

Surely, there must be some people who live such reprehensible lives that God will open his evaluation of them with the words, "Wow! What an anal canal you are!"

That is very true 9:35, very true indeed. Everything the targets do will be a fault finding expedition.
Even dying and bequeathing everything they own is a fault to be picked over by Dave Pack.

I'm glad I won't be Dave Pack on judgment day !

I don't want to see Dave perish forever. C'mon Dave, repent, sell all you have and give to the poor and your parishioners, and of course stop mouthing HWA tithes lies.

7.34, Every hour of every day is an opportunity to repent. I don't believe people "repenting" at deaths door is truly sincere and accepted by God

Here is an idea! Buy cheap term life insurance , for a MILLION DOLLARS , start at age 18, and it's only $50 a month or so. Have your church be the beneficiary., the million will be more than enough to cover your arrears"TITHE" after you are dead. AND if you decide to leave your cult, you can either cancel your insurance, or move it to your next cult as beneficiary.

I wouldn’t utter anything about someone else’s repentance. By what measure you judge another you will also be judged. The Lord desires mercy. Let God be the judge, and don’t step into a role you haven’t been invited into

Well, Dude, there is one theological school of thought that you get to repent after death! Why? Listen to Bob Dylan:

"There must be some way out of here,
Said the joker to the thief
There's too much confusion,
I can't get no relief."

What kind of fool takes some stranger's word that he's speaking on behalf of God, especially if that stranger teaches you to do things that are not in keeping with traditional Christian values, deals in false prophecy, ruins your finances, and messes up your family relationships? By their fruits shall you know them!

The Mormons teach that when we are raised for final judgment, God will explain to us how things really are, and give us a choice as to whether we'll go with that. That makes perfect sense, considering the fact that life and false teachers can spin your head and mess you up so badly!

I’m not familiar with the doctrine about “common” and although I know that the New Testament did have some examples of people selling properties and distributing to the church, I don’t really understand how you can be expected to tithe, which is ten percent but also have to pay “common” which would be everything else. Wouldn’t you then have to give the whole paycheck too, and not just a tithe? Wouldn’t the rest of the paycheck count as “common”? These don’t seem compatible. It’s good to follow the Bible but there are so many ways of doing it wrong.

Somewhat of a different attitude than LCG who got that land in Charlotte after it was "left to", as the move away from San Diego was a bargain. Pack should be grateful, but he's a wolf howlin' in the wind.

Great observation. As I was always taught as an adult the priorities are: God, family, work and then church.

Because if you don't work, then you can't support a family. Work has to go in front of church and so does family. And in the case of Armstrongism, you may live an hour a way from the nearest member. it's not like a community church in your local community.

Feastgoer, Dave is always quoted accurately. The description is not a transcript. Dave accused him of "not giving a dime," but immediately qualified it, nullifying the first statement. It is an oxymoron. The accusation was "not a dime," and the contradiction is "except his tithes." If you were suggesting the quote was disingenuous or out of context, the video showed it was not.

Feastgoer, He was dead, so what he wanted will remain a mystery until the resurrection. I'll ask Mario about it when I see him. I'll ask for forgiveness rather than permission. I knew him while attending RCG. He was named for the sake of RCG members who are still there, so they can attach a face to Dave's tirade. It makes the rant more personal. Anyone else in RCG can be aware that no matter what you do, if Dave perceives you did it wrong, you could get smeared in front of everyone. This is NOT the first time this has happened.

I keep waiting for all the terrible, toxic Karma that Dave is generating to come back at him like a chimera shark/skunk on steroids. Unlike John Lennon's concept of Karma it isn't usually instant. But, when it finally hits it's a deusey!

That’s actually a personal belief or maybe hope of mine ie that at the GWT Christ and His saints will judge the untold dead raised to life and give them an opportunity to repent and choose Christ and life everlasting or to reject Him and die the second death.
