Apostolic Adoration

I use this photo on the Banned Facebook page

Just look at the adoration so many in the crowd have at the mere sight of the holy apostle himself as he points out the future site of God's House that will milk them out 9.8 million dollars, and that would end up being sold for pennies on the dollar to a charismatic speaking-in-tongues Brownsville Revival cult that can cause gold dust to rain down from above and turn teeth into gold as they bark like dogs, shreak in holy laughter, and speak in tongues as they writhe on the floor slain in the spirit.

Except for one man, who threw up in his mouth.

Just looked up Brownsville Revival church and was alarmed by what I read.
Perhaps wwcog was not so awful as we thought after all.
I thought JWs were weird but this group take the cake for weird.
There seems to be a ready ‘market’ for this type of aberration which calls itself a church.
To a hungry man even the bitter tastes sweet.
Apostolic adoration…..not now lol.

The photograph is widely thought to have been taken in Britain at Ambassador College, Bricket Wood campus. Allegedly Herbert had arrived in his Rolls Royce at the same time a bus load of members from another area had, for Holy Day or Sabbath services. He wasn't expecting to encounter them upon arrival, and by the looks on the faces of the group neither were they. Herbert was allegedly pointing to the entrance. I'm sure someone, somewhere got told off later on for the timing coincidence.

It was the post-war era, millions worshipped entertainment, political figures and even in those days Royalty as aspirational human figures. It was idolatry, and did not help the idolised ones, as much as the one's idolising others.

I feel sorry for his audience. Rather than the narrow gate, society taught them over conformity. Herb exploited this by feeding them a brew of truth and untruths that he knew were wrong. He betrayed the trust they put in the man.

$9.8 million? What’s that in today’s money?!

I have read that perhaps this picture was actually taken at the Bricket Wood AC campus, which closed in 1974. No verification on that, but the clothing does look a bit old to be near the beginning of the Auditorium, which opened in, I believe, in 1974.

The fancy auditorium in Pasadena if it was built in 1974 for $10 million is about equal to $65 million today.

I've seen that photo before. Those were much simpler times back then. However that man was no apostle. Oh only had they kept their former estate. Who shall separate us from the love of God.

It's a joke here in Pasadena with some in the city organizations I belong to. They tell me, "We thought you guys were crazy, but you were sane compared to the Harvest Rock people." Now, Che Ahn (Harvest Rock's cult guru) is running for governor of California in 2026

That looks like Gerald Waterhouse standing in the black suit front and center.....I'm leaning more towards Pasadena than BW.

I’m sure Elvis is there somewhere.
Just imagine his tithing.
This alone allows him a front seat in the choice places at the local synagogue lol.
In this case Ambassador Auditorium.
And also hop leaps him past every other for quick fire ordination into the ministry of Herb.

Yes you are correct, I was wrong on the campus. The trees behind are more Pasedena than Bricket Wood.

The photo is another white out! Where are the people of color?

Based on HWA's wrinkles, the fact that the guys are wearing skinny ties and no pastel blue dress shirts as of yet, and the hair styles, the pic is from around 1966-early 1967.

Never knew HWA wore his watch on his right wrist.

The photograph is back to front. You can tell by the way the clothing does up, or was it that way back then?

I considered that the neg had been flipped when printed, however there are at least 5 prominent right hand dominant poses, as one generally favors one's dominant hand. That's what led me to conclude that HWA was wearing his watch on his right hand.

The gentleman up front with glasses behind the woman with his hand on his mouth appears to be about to vomit. Maybe what he just heard was too much to stomach

Entirely possible. Another theory being that someone in the crowd had some of that silent but deadly gas!
