Persecuted Bob Elijah Elisha Amos Thiel "Nearly" Jailed

Jailed French Adventists 1917

Its so comforting to know that God's most important Church of God leader in these last days was nearly jailed for his refusal to work on Saturdays.   Elijah Amos Thiel has added this little tidbit to his roster of "Why I Am The Most Logical Choice To Be A Church of God Leader EVVVVVVER" profiles.

We have double blessings, double anointing, double dreams, various prophet monikers, and other delusional self describing fantasies.  Now we can add "Nearly Jailed" to the list.

I personally was nearly jailed (while working for the government) and threatened with job loss throughout my earlier careers, because I kept the Sabbath.  As it turned out I was not jailed nor fired, but there still is a risk for many.

"Nearly" Jailed Bob Elisha Elijah Amos Thiel is reacting to an article published in COG7's magazine Bible Advocate on  Keeping the Sabbath and Keeping Your Job

What title is left for Nearly Jailed Elisha Elijah Amos Thiel to take?  One of the two witnesses? Since he claims to be a god in training he might as wells add "God" to his title.

Bitter Bob is alleged to have said, "I personally was nearly jailed (while working for the government) and threatened with job loss throughout my earlier careers, because I kept the Sabbath."

MY COMMENT - Nearly jailed for keeping the Sabbath? That is laughable!

Yeah right! And pigs fly!

What Government was Thiel working for that would "nearly" jail him for keeping the Sabbath? The old USSR or North Korea perhaps because it sure wasn't the good old USA or any lower level State government entity. That we know.

Why are there so many cast of clowns in the Armstrongite circus?

They look like dorks in those uniforms. At least modern uniforms have some personality.

Probably the most famous incident of sabbath-firing was when Steven Hill, an orthodox Jew, was fired from the cast of Mission Impossible at the end of the first season in 1967. He insisted on being home by sunset Friday, and the crew sometimes had not finished shooting that week's episode by that time.

It is has generally been my experience that a person is not fired soley because of the sabbath. It is usually the sabbath and something else. A person has not made himself terribly valuable to the company, and the sabbath is used basically as a pretext. Early in my career, it happened to me twice. Later, in retrospect, I realized that I had made some mistakes, or had had difficulties relating to the other employees. Lets face it. Most employers will not fire their most valuable employee over a religious issue, especially if he is also personable and well liked. I had not learned by that point in time that your best job security will be realized if you make yourself pretty darned near indispensable, and try to make friends or play nicely with others.

maybe he was in the military at the time...disobeying orders will get you tossed in the brig.

at least he stood firm, even at the threat of jail.

BB "your best job security will be realised if make yourself pretty damned indispensable, and try to make friends or play nicely with others." has a name. It is called trade. Seems like they didn't teach you that at Ambassador College.

My best advice for Bobby is not to drink and drive.

And also, don't cheat on your Income Taxes.

You are right, T/G. I had to learn about trade, and the art of negotiation on my own. But the biggest thing I had to learn that was not taught in the WCG or at Ambassador College was ethics. We had been so conditioned to see people outside the church in a certain light, and to barely tolerate them, almost in fact dismissively. My further education involved learning the ethical treatment of all people. In many cases, I struggled with my earlier programming, and it was not a pretty picture. Had I not, I probably would never have been able to be a successful business owner today.
