LCG Leaders Continue To Treat Members Like Uneducated Little Kids

Why does the Church of God and particularly the Living Church of God continue to treat its members like little children that have to be constantly reminded on how how to do things?

Appropriate church service attire

What Is Appropriate Dress at the Feast?
At Worship Services: In most modern cultures, coats, collared shirts, ties, and nice slacks are considered appropriate attire for men on special occasions. 1 Timothy 2:9–10 explains that ladies should dress “in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation.” Just because something is comfortable or acceptable in our modern society does not make it appropriate at Church. As we gather to picture Christ’s glorious reign on earth, our ladies should be careful not to dress in a manner that can become a distraction to others from the real purpose of coming to the Feast.
LCG men...please do not wear these anymore!

At the Beach: Appropriate beach attire for women and men is swimwear that is modest and in good taste. Following our Living Youth Programs policy, beachwear at the Feast for ladies should be a modest one-piece or a modest tankini (covering the mid-section), and for the men, no Speedo-type suits.

Damn, I guess I'll have to return my feast thong.

Methinks therein lies just one problem why young people are leaving the various COGs. The hierarchy focuses on superficial appearances. They idealize the Western “Sunday best” traditional attire as if it’s a law in the Bible. They just can’t see it or get it that it’s not dress codes God cares about it’s attitudes of love, hospitality, mercy, non-judgement, respect that He wants to see displayed. So if a homeless man or woman entered a COG service how would s/he be treated? How about someone in tracksuits or shorts and flip flops? Welcomed or shunned and put aside? The youth can see through all the hypocrisy and double standards. Honestly these COGs need to re-evaluate their priorities smh.

@6:37, if John the Baptist and a Pharisee walked into an ACOG service, which one would be treated with more respect? You know the answer, and it explains much about why the ACOGs rarely produce true Christian values and conduct in their members.

Believe it or not, Anon. 6:37, I've been in COG congregations where homeless people showed up. Sometimes they simply passed by the hall somehow. Or they were picked up by members, who spotted them while heading for services and saw an opportunity to introduce them to the church.

The congregation seemed polite to them, not scornful. A couple of members even helped them after the service - in one or two cases, paying for inter-city bus fare that they requested.

As for the topic here - I never knew a "Razorback" was something other than a resident of Arkansas. :-)

Too funny!

One of the vital ingredients of success is the ability to feel good about one's self. That is a vital key to becoming strong enough to help others, and to be a blessing to them. It is a strength, and we do help others from our strengths and surplusses.

There was a time when I prided myself on being able to dress way down for work. But, I always worked hard, and aspired to improving my status. So, for now, I'm really enjoying being a collared guy.

You may be right about authoritarian control over people but you lose your argument with the super nasty photo of the nude fat guys parade... Those Speedos are fighting a losing battle and kids shouldn't be there when they give way.

There are thin guys in the photo as well.

Scripture says to dress modestly. Modesty varies by culture. In Tanzania, we were told that the women visitors to the orphanage can wear shorts, but not when they are in town. Then, they should wear a skirt. But, in Sunday services, mothers can walk in bare breasted with a baby in her arms, and that's OK. Why can't the ministers of the C of God simply remind people to dress modestly and leave it at that? Don't they believe that all members have the Holy Spirit to guide them? I think the leadership does the same thing our Washington politicians do: focus on minor issues to avoid the tough issues of immigration, an ongoing war, and of course, the ever growing national debt.

--exactly right--

A number of things have been lost in the COG in the past 25 years, including proper dress and music at services, culture, hospitality, among other things. It is unbelievable how some people dress for services with T-shirts and cut jeans. It shows nothing less than mockery and disrespect for Almighty God!

using which standard....1800s? early 1900s?, 1950s? 2000?

with the constantly changing standards for "modest", what's a person to do?

Just set up the vollyball net at Haulover and the beach wear problem is solved.

Good looking humans are going to be attractive to other humans and will set off fantasies no matter how they are attired. And, it’s not always about male temptation. Cowgirls get wet over a cowboy with overly tight jeans. So, it’s largely up to the individual to control his or her own thoughts.

Of course, you can get into the realm of the ridiculous. It would be distracting for any speaker to see someone at the front of his audience with a short skirt and no underwear. I think the problem with the ACOGs is where they have always chosen to set the bar. They have gone to stupid extremes in the opposite direction, somewhat like the Amish or Islamic fundamentalists. They’ve ruled out perfectly acceptable fashions just because they are fresh and different from minister-preferred styles.

If God wanted people to wear ties we'd have been born with dewlaps.

Ties? You mean those phallus pointers?

Not to mention the symbology of the wedding ring, appendage inside a hole.
