Weird COG Dude Upset No One Acknowledges Him As Modern Day Amos

Prophets seem to be a dime a dozen in the Church of God now.  In spite of that, some still crow on and on about how special they are and that their message is being ignored.

There is one particular dude though that has to work overtime by repeatedly making claims on how special he is and that no one heeds his message today. Try as he might, people still look at him as this weird guy from Living Church of God that Rod Meredith rejected and publicly rebuked. Stung by that humiliation, he started making fantastical claims that he was suddenly "set apart" from all the other fake COG prophets as the ONE TRUE prophet for the end times.

Church of God members used to be suckers for these types of men as they hit the scene claiming they are modern-day Elijah's, Elisha's, Habbakuk's, and even Amos himself, not so much anymore. In spite of that, one little dude, in particular, loves to make that claim.
It is interesting that he [Amos] had to tell people that one becomes a true prophet in a manner that most did not expect. The Apostle Paul attempted to defend his apostleship that type of way (2 Corinthians 11:5, 22-29)–and that was to people who were supposedly in the Church of God.

One of the messages that Amos proclaimed is that the time would come when people would not be able to find the words of God:
11 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God,
“That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the Lord.
12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord,
But shall not find it. (Amos 8:11-12)
Where would a good COG prophet be today without some tragedy looming on the horizon? The "famine of the word" has always been a favorite tool of COG prophets to hook people in.  Their message is so special that it will be prohibited by the authorities, in horrible times soon to come, from spreading the gospel of Moses.

Of course, in 2020, nothing drives this home to COG prophets more than the coronavirus pandemic and the orders for citizens to not congregate and to stay at home. This is a sure sign that the government is out to stop COG's from meeting.

With people homebound, the internet is the main way news travels and COG prophets have to use this medium as a way to get their message across. Even that is in peril now, because that big bad dude Satan is ANGRY that they are preaching the Gospel of Moses and therefore is going to shut them down from preaching that message.
I believe that the above warning is a reference to a coming internet censorship. This is likely to start just before the start of the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), also called the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21). Perhaps under the guise of “neutrality,” perhaps under the guise of “The Patriot Act,” perhaps under the guise of “public welfare,” perhaps because of alleged “intolerance,” calling parts of the COG message “hate speech” and/or national security threats/issues, something will be done to stop perhaps all of the organized media efforts to proclaim biblical truths. A short work will be done (Romans 9:27-28), which will trigger the end (Matthew 24:14), and likely then the famine of the word (Amos 8:11-12).
This modern-day Amos ends his missive with this as he bemoans the fact that ALL of the Churches of God ignore him as do those the world.
Of course, few in those nations believe that they will be taken over and have such calamity. But that will come to pass. Most would not listen to Amos then, and most, sadly, will not listen to Amos now.

Despise his abrasive personality all you want, but he has been 100% accurate in what he says.

"abrasive personality"? Come on! For that, cajones would be required. The guy comes off as a petulant little pussy! ACOG leaders accumulate followings based on how commanding their personalities are, how they resonate with people. If nobody is listening to this wannabe, he needs to dig deeper, to look inside, and to fix the problem. Either that, or find a profession or hobby that is more suitable to his aptitudes and abilities.

Whoa! I thought David Koresh was the only mostly reliable Millerite prophet. Who is this guy? I don't recognize the photo. Can you give me some examples of his accurate predictions? This may depose David Koresh from his throne.

Sounds like you admit he has one. Bob is no more accurate than any news article, commentary or observations made by others on the Internet and in the news. Asking "Could it be?" "Might...?" and "Is the ....?" or any other speculation disguised in the form of a question does not count.

I have yet to hear a "Thus saith the Lord unto me...." That one is risky

Even Bible prophets and Apostles got it wrong which is why we have those who notice this problem being called scoffers, and yet being correct in their observations.

If Bob's a prophet then so is every man and woman on the news or commentator about it .

Amos? What I want to know is, who is the end-time Agabus? Who is the end-time Ananias? Who is the end-time Salome? The end-time Esther? These guys with the big egos aren't giving us the full picture of end-time prophecy.

How can Bob claim to be the end-time Amos? His photo at the end of the post doesn't look a bit like the portrait of Amos at the beginning. Wrong haplogroup.

Bob's got a horrible spelling problem. He meant Anus.

Bob is the General Pastor of the Crappy Curtains church of God.

For the past few days I've been feeling regretful about some comments I made about Bob and his use of generic prophecies as opposed to timely prophetic revelation. I know Bob doesn't take criticism well, and like Sheldon Cooper, has difficulty with recognizing sarcasm.

But as another poster wrote, there is no "thus saith the Lord", just reuse of prophecies that we've heard decades ago. In my first encounter with GTA, he was showing how some verses in Jeremiah fit current news events, and to me it sounded like he was really on to something. Then there was the failure of 1972, and later I read of all the other failed specific prophecies.

Perhaps citing generic, cause and effect, time and chance prophecies are Bob's best bet, but to point these out doesn't, in my understanding, make one a prophet. I remember after the Challenger disaster people found what appeared to be verses by Nostradamus that described the event - didn't help. Neither does predicting something after it happened.

If Thiel is Moses, then maybe Im a Biblical Andrew.

Then Thiel and I could team up we could become a modern day spiritual "Amos and Andy"!

Sorry, Hoss, but I disagree with you. Think about it this way. We've all seen Bob make statements such as:

"Could it be that another virus like SARS will cause death around the world? Could it be that a female President will lead the USA into a downward spiral of weakness on the world stage?"

Years later, Bob will use the first of those questions as "proof" he is a prophet, but he will forget about the second question, and certainly will not accept that it disqualifies him as the prophet he thinks himself to be.

Anon 1043 -

You're right. In my attempt to redress what I felt was an overzealous rebuke, I unintentionally let Bob off the hook. I believe my real intention was to say the Bible contains numerous "cause and effect" generic warnings, along with Jesus' mention that sometimes time and chance misfortune does not mean divine retribution. And citing such warnings doesn't make someone a prophet.
And I agree with your observation of Bob's methods - I once wrote he shoots at the broad side of a barn with a blunderbuss - he's bound to hit something. I think his round of COVID-19 posts started by Tonto's remark about not having predicted it, and sure enough Bob pulls out an article he posted some years ago as proof that he foresaw the current pandemic. And Bob has to be careful, as at this stage no one can be certain of the outcome.

I don't believe I use the word "perhaps" even a fraction of the times Bob uses it and he calls himself a prophet.
"Perhaps I am God's key to perhaps the apocalypse which will perhaps lead to Jesus returning after we go to Petra perhaps where there will be a much worse shortage of toilet paper.....perhaps" says past, modern and future Bitter Bob the prophet.....perhaps
