Our most favorite self-appointed Church of God leader in the history of the COG movement, so important that he was foreordained by God before he started forming the foundations of the earth so that he could rise up in these perilous end times as the one true faithful COG leader the church would need in order to know when to flee to Petra, or Pella, or wherever his creature intends to hide a few hundred Christians in the midst of an Islamic nation, is back with a recycled message attempting to prove when his small cult is the only true place a "real" Christian should be attending.
The end time Amos, Elisha, Bwana Thiel writes:
A while back, I received an email from a former Worldwide Church of God member that included the following:
I AM CONCERNED ABOUT SOME ISSUES OF MR. …. BELIEF AND APPARENTLY YOU DON’T AGREE WITH. I DON’T THINK THAT ANY OF THESE CHURCHES AGREE WITH OTHER SO WHO DO YOU GO WITH? …
SOME OF GERALD FLURRY’S TEACHINGS ARE COMPLETELY WRONG AND HE’S GONE FAR OUT ON SOME THINGS SUCH AS ARMSTRONG’S STONE REPLACING JACOB’S. MANY, MANY PLACES IN THE BIBLE STATES THAT CHRIST IS THAT ROCK AND IT’S SPIRITUAL. CHRIST DOESN’T NEED A ROCK. FLURRY BASED HIS THEORY ON THE IDEA THAT COME KIDS STOLE JACOB’S ROCK FROM ENGLAND. THAT’S AMAZING SINCE IT WEIGHS OVER 350 LBS. I’VE READ OTHER LITERATURE THAT THE STONE IS STORED IN SCOTLAND.FALSE PREACHER #1
I SAW A DAVID PACK SERMON ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE 2 WITNESSES . HE SAID THAT THEY ARE IN HIS CHURCH RIGHT NOW. I BELIEVE HE’S NOW PULLED THAT SERMON BECAUSE I COULDKN’T FIND IT NOW. FALSE PREACHER #2
I SAW A SERMON BY THE LIVING CHURCH OF GOD ABOUT THE MARK OF THE BEAST AND THE PRESENTER SAID WITHOUT HESITATION THAT THE MARK OF THE BEAST IS SUNDAY WORSHIP. PERIOD.. HE MADE NO MENTION OF ANY MARKS ON YOUR BODY OR 666. SABBATH MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT, BUT THERE WILL BE OTHER FACTORS. YOU LEFT BECAUSE OF DOCTRINE. I’LL ????????? ….
NOW I COME TO … A FALSE TEACHER …
YOU SEE HOW A PERSON COULD BE DECEIVED?
PLEASE ADVISE
After months and months of running off at the mouth and publicly scolding Rod Meredith and the Living Church of God for IGNORING his demands to change doctrines and church teachings, Rod Meredith had enough and kicked Thiel's immature little butt out of the church in a stinging rebuke during a church service.
Immediately, martyrdom set in with the Great Bwana and the excuses start flowing faster than the water trickling out the garden hose in his backyard was doing. With hands and arms flailing about as he bounced in his chair proclaiming his right to restore the truth once delivered.
The Great Bwana responded to the above "person":
Anyway, here is what I responded to the former WCG member with:
Dear …:
As I have repeatedly written at COGwriter, I doubt that David Pack or Gerald Flurry are converted.
I consider that the only COG that is Philadelphian is the CCOG–though not all in CCOG are Philadelphian and there are Philadelphians not in CCOG–but no other COG represents the continuation of Philadelphia.
You should use God’s criteria, and none other to decide.
Here are two links (redacted) you should read and pray about if you are truly serious:
- How does the Continuing Church of God differ from other Sabbatarian COG groups?
- Does the CCOG have the confirmed signs of Acts 2:17-18?
But most refuse to believe and use their own standards.
Best regards,
Bob Thiel
The Great Bwana does not like anyone who use their critical thinking to discern whether it is right or not. Those that see through his lies are apparently operating on a different unconverted standard than he is. Only someone as perfect as the great Bwana can discern the truth.
Many have been confused and used the wrong criteria to assess churches.
Sadly, in the end time, in Revelation 3:14-19 Jesus revealed that even most real Christians would use their criteria, not God’s as they would be part of the “people decide” churches (which is basically what Laodicea means).
Nothing infuriates a self-appointed self-righteous COG minister or leader more than when lay members do not follow them.
The Great Bwana continues with another "letter" from this "ex-WCG " person:
A BETTER JOB IN BEING A WATCHMAN. THIS IS THE 1ST TIME IN 25 YEARS THAT THEY STARTED TO WAKE UP ON PROPHECY.
My response to the above was to tell him that the COG he attends as well as a group that came out of it do not teach much about prophecy. They also have a lot of prophetic errors.
No lay member of the COG movement should be following ANY COG leaders who place the emphasis upon prophecy. In Armstrongism the pathway of prophecy is littered with hundreds of thousands of utter lies and half-truths. The debris on that path makes it impossible to walk towards any real faith. Every single COG leader has been proven to be a liar when it comes to prophecy.
You are free to watch the Great Bwana's animation of himself telling another cartoon character how to find a true church. One guess as to which church he is recommending. Unless you belong to this church your salvation is at risk.

That an ex wwcog member would write/approach Thiel on this subject says more about this individual than it says about Thiel’s answer. But it is a question that deserves to be answered.
Perhaps exercising a little independent thought and critical inquiry will give direction, rather than let others do the thinking for you.
Research research research, there is a wealth of information available about these charlatans who pose as ‘shepherds’.
Especially on Thiel. We are without excuse.
Thiel’s answer is not a surprise and totally expected. Classic Armstrongism on display here.
At the end of the day only you can make that decision.
Do what seems best but keep your expectations low.
Bob is always tooting his own horn, the problem he toots it from the wrong end.
That letter is about as fake as the ones WCG used to claim were proof of the growth of the church. Many were made up by church writers.
Why on earth would any ex-WCG member lower themselves to ask a splinter cult leader of the church, which church they should belong to? Truly pathetic! Use the brain that God gave you to think for yourself! Attempting to use the brain of Bob Thiel to tell you what to do shows a complete lack of faith.
Funny. Bob should dip that horn into Bubble Stuff. I bet he could blow some whopper bubbles! Kinda symbolic. Full of hot air just like him!
As an aspiring intellectual (with diploma mill degrees to prove it), why would Bob deliberately select a particular email that seems to be indicative of the low mentality of its writer? Is this how he wishes his followers to be represented to his COGwriter audience?
Oh well, maybe I should shut my mouth. Maybe he didn't take his Saw Palmetto Complex that morning.
It's the only one he's gotten.
Bob Thiel, attempting to explain the uniqueness of his made-up, man-made group, responded to a former WCG member with God's two criteria:
"...As I have repeatedly written at COGwriter, I doubt that David Pack or Gerald Flurry are converted...
...You should use God’s criteria, and none other to decide.
Here are two links (redacted) you should read and pray about if you are truly serious:

Okay, how does the Continuing Church of God differ from other Sabbatarian COG groups?
The Continuing group is much like, not different from, the other groups, because lots of lies are spewed out, and this blogsite has exposed many of them. So, Continuing isn't all that unique.
For example, how similar is Bob Thiel to a Doug Winnail, who repeats himself over and over again in his "never-ending" Friday night smackdown messages. Huh? Well, look at what Bob wrote! Bob wrote: "...As I have repeatedly written at COGwriter..."
But at least Bob admits it; Doug Winnail does not. Sometimes Doug, it seems, with minor word changes, plagiarizers himself.
Okay, let's consider that second criteria? "Does the CCOG have the confirmed signs of Acts 2:17-18?" Sorry, for that repetition, but I do want to stress what Bob wrote to us. What is Acts 2?
:17 "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:"
Now, Bob differs from the living group, in that Doug believes we are already in "the last days," but obviously those last days, when God's Spirit is to be poured out on all flesh is not today, not at time of 1st resurrection, not during 1,000 year Doug Winnail Mickey Mouse Millennium with "another Jesus" reigning on earth, not when Satan is loosed from the bottomless pit, but that "soon coming" kingdom is scheduled for when "all flesh" with that Spirit poured out and that won't be until AFTER the time of the 2nd resurrection (there is no 3rd resurrection needed).
So, Bob Thiel, who does not always lie to us: you may want to contact Doug Winnail and advise him of when those real "last days" occur, because Doug is still bling-sighted on that.
Will Bob Thiel advise Doug Winnail (Yes, and while you are at it: Weston, Pack, Flurry, Wineland, Franks, Rogers, faithless United Ass's lead hireling Rick Shabi before he is voted out of that position that God never selected him for, etc. pick a name...) of a true partial description of "the last days" using his-selected Biblical criteria of Acts 2:17-18 so that they all know that God's Church cannot be with himself nor with them, but must be somewhere else?
Time will tell...

Is that Bob taking a "hit" off a specially made "bong"?? Would explain a lot actually!
Is that Bob taking a "hit" off a specially made "bong"?
No. It is Bob again Judaizing, misunderstanding the distinction between the Temple regulations and the rules of human conduct, confusing the Old and New Covenants, and seizing on the physical because he neither understands nor has a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Maybe that is part of the reason why Bob, who used to claim 300 non-African CCOG members, is lately saying that his non-African membership is in the 100-200 range.
Ah, come on, Tonts! I don't say this about many people, but in Thiel's case, you know darned well that some good old fashioned cannabis therapy would very much improve his cognitive functions. His big swollen head constricts brain activity and produces symptoms not unlike OCD.
ROFLMAO!!! Has Cartoon Bob finally returned?
Has anyone noticed that whenever doubly blessed, almost arrested for Sabbath Keeping Dr. Bobby Thiel morphs himself into his Cartoon Bob character, he always portrays himself as "better looking" than he really is in real life? Real Bobby Thiel has gray hair and shows age around his face but when Thiel morphs into Cartoon Bob, he has black hair, younger looking and no age marks. Is Thiel projecting his own vanity in his Cartoon Bob character?
I love Thiel's Cartoon Bob animations. They are so funny to watch. For example, in the first 7 seconds of the posted Cartoon Bob clip, it shows a young woman approaching him while he is holding a book. Notice where Cartoon Bob's eyes are for the first 7 seconds: Are they on the book or are they on the young woman? :)
Another example, what is the probability of some young babe randomly coming up to Cartoon Bob (or any one for that matter) and asking a complete stranger if he knows anything about Christianity? I want to put the odds at 1 in billions. In other words, it isn't going to happen but it's very laughably entertaining!
And that is the value of Bobby Thiel and his Cartoon Bob character! He is laughably entertaining. Which is why I love his animations. Nobody takes him seriously. Keep it up Bob. I think you have found your niche in life as Cartoon Bob.

Don't curtains normally hang straight?
Young girls would come up to cartoon Bob if he grew a beard, wore denim, boots, and a bandanna, and rode a Harley Davidson. I mean, it wouldn't even matter if he wore his bandanna crooked! But his problem then would be that they wouldn't be asking him about the Bible.

They are lifted up by the Spirit. It is a token that everything about Bob Thiel is uplifted, including every muscle in his body except one.
"the "people decide" churches (which is basically what Laodicea means)."
I read Pack's booklet on church government about 20 years ago. It's where he defined Laodicea as "the people decide."
Which is a pot shot against intellectual independence. The bible is clear that ministers are not to lord it over members faith, and that the "prove all things" instruction is an individual responsibility. It looks like Dave was even then setting up his members for the not to be questioned Common doctrine
Btw, Laodicea means being spiritually luke warm.
Strictly speaking, the name of the town in its original Greek form comes from the words for "(common) people" and "justice". Much like the (Greek) name Nicholas translates to something like "victory of the people".
Of course, Armstrongites saw in that an ominous warning. But did the people ever really rule in WCG?
I still do not get why in 2022 that church members feel the need to ask ministers what to do with their spiritual life, let alone which church is the "right" church. No minister, especially Bob Thiel is qualified or sent by God to do any spiritual guidance.
RSK
The city of Laodicea was established in 300 BC by king Antiochus 11 in honor of his wife Laodice. According to Revelation 3: 15, the church's main sin was being lukewarm. Dave Pack implies that their main sin was a democratic form of church government. He used this straw man argument to justify his police state church policy.
And Bob freeloaded on this deception
Bob mentions the letter in his current sermon. Also how CCOG is the only truly Philadelphian COG, with restored truth HWA wasn't revealed, and the only COG Jesus goes to.
I think I heard a few swipes at "the church I previously attended" too.
I actually heard the "people rule" interpretation first in Flurrys drivel back in the 90s. In the same form. He was trying to link it to the Tkaches somehow... which really made no sense as nothing was getting decided by "the people" in Tkach-era WCG for sure!

A question might possibly be: what people rule? Could it mean the rule is to be done by the hirelings, little helpers of HWA and JWT Sn., of the former WCG Pasadena organization: those who fled leaving their ministerial credentials behind? HWA no longer needed their assistance, and neither did JWT Sn. Joe was told by HWA to shut down the colleges, sell the jet, etc.
At the conclusion of the 1995 Indianapolis Conference, after the establishment of the United Ass., called at that time: United Church of God an International Association Victor Kubik mentioned "decisions for the people," but which people? Vic meant that the ministry (that people) would make the decisions. What did Vic say to all of the elders, mates, etc. that attended that conference? From a transcript of that conference we may read this:
"...So, we will be praying for you. Pray for us. Pray for the Board. Pray for us to be guided by God in making decisions for the people, and think that really, the ones who win or loose at Indy are the people - the people we serve. They're the ones that we're here for. If we're not here - if we don't organize something they will drift off, and shatter, and splinter..."
It is all about self, themselves: to continue to be in control over people and make decisions for people.
Well, where was God? Where was their faith in what God could do through His Spirit in people's lives.
What was the end result? The United Ass. has seemingly drifted off to who-knows-where, shattered and splintered as if spewed all over the earth: similar to the former WCG.
The hirelings act like babes, spiritual babes, stagnant, still drinking milk. After all, could any of them hirelings identify where and how much they have grown in the knowledge and grace of Jesus Christ? Or, were they driven by another spirit to preach another gospel about another Jesus? The flounder around as if adrift. Yes, here comes another survey for the people to fill out, which in reality provides some guidance where the people are making decisions for the United Ass. ministry, b/c they are "lost" as if in some fog.
The same could be said for cogwa, living, Weston, Winnail (initially attended with the United Ass. for a short time), Wineland, Pack, Flurry, etc. just a bunch of babes, still!
Does any of this make any sense? Who are the babes? Who is the real "baby?"
FWIIW, Victor Kubik went on to say one more thing: "...And now with what we have done we have provided - a baby, and a carriage, and a bassinette, and a crib. Thank you very much.
We love you very much. [Applause]..."
The United Ass. hirelings showed their lack of faith in God when they left WCG Pasadena to go "do their own thing" (something Doug Winnail preaches against doing; however, he too attended that conference) in voting/balloting in their own servant to lead them. Where was God in that?
United is doing another survey. Why? It makes the people think that something is being accomplished, when there isn't much (Remember that naked Emperor?). When they published the Good News magazine and sent it out to the people it was to give the people the touchy/feely feeling idea that something was being done with the mammon sent in to a central office...well, now they no longer have much to do with a magazine by that name "Good News."
Anyway, what does Rick Shabi think about the United Ass's history from May 1995 to today? Is the United Ass. "of God:" The God of the Old Testament (not Jesus Christ Acts 3:13) or not?
Time will tell...
John
