From a reader:
A young man with a developmental disability who had previously attended Restored Church of God Services recently received a letter from that organization with four Holy Day Offering envelopes enclosed. The young man in question is very bright and intellectually curious, but he does not currently have a job or any other source of income. He lives with his parents and had expressed an interest (in times past) of attending RCG's Feast of Tabernacles, but no help was forthcoming for that purpose. Indeed, that organization has not offered any help in the direction of relieving this good person's situation/circumstances or for helping him to attend festivals which they teach that he is bound to observe.
I would say that it was just an honest mistake - an oversight on their part, but the young man did actually monitor* the services of a congregation near him! Moreover, RCG had placed his correct name and address on both the letter to him and the enclosed Offering envelopes! Hence, I'm thinking that it would stretch believability to suggest that they didn't know exactly what they were doing. Maybe they thought that the young man could squeeze some money out of parents, family or friends? Maybe they thought he had a little nest egg set aside? I don't know, and I frankly don't care. I do know, however, that it is downright reprehensible to squeeze a young man for money whom they should obviously be helping!

In the PCG, I heard of some people getting excommunicated for not paying tithes after they lost their job through no fault of their own. Flurry is greedy and cruel!
No conspiracy on this one. These items are mass-produced each year and sent out around the same time. Everyone on "the list" is sent these. Nobody knows what is going on with each individual. Even if their minister does, there are computer systems and databases that still have names and addresses on them.
No company takes you off a list and puts you back on based on your circumstance. You are either registered with info or not.
If I thought there was devious behavior behind it, I would chase this story.
He could access there online sermons so so some jerk decided "we have a live one, yank to set the hook"
He is mentally challenged? Shouldnt be able to resist our thought reform as good as others then...
Oh he asked for financial help? Add him to the doners list, weve got to recoup as much as posible.
Jesus healed the lame that was brought to him. Pack's cult simply wants to suck whatever money they can out of even the poorest of the poor.
The ACOGs are all cut from the same cloth.. Some pull their punches in order to look respectable, but beneath the surface, they are all the same. Members are universally viewed as chattel to be heartlessly exploited. Dave only differs by being more up front and extreme than the other splinters. I experienced this many times while attending services. There were the rude and crude members with there obvious evil motives, and then their socially polished counterparts who used guile, but were driven by the same evil motives.
Just do the Biblical example and put TWO PENNIES in the envelope, like the widows mite.
WHEN WILL THE IRS COME AFTER THIS QUACK AND PUT HIM IN JAIL WHERE BELONGS?
"Sirs,
I can't "send it in". I already sent it in. I can't send it all in twice. I pulled big triggers and am broke. The gun keeps misfiring and ammunition is getting old and moldy. Tell my horses hello from me and perhaps you can send me some of any lefover, world class Hors-D'oeuvres, you served the Elite of Wadsworth this week. Concerning all I sent in, please send it back ASAP. I have needs and know you, as a genuine Christian Ministry, will not shut up the windows of heaven that have opened for you, though for me since giving all, not so much. Envelope enclosed to you too."
To Anon @ 8:50 am- that was hysterical and absolutely brilliant! Loved it!
Three feasts (Ex 23:14-16) but 4 (why green?) envelopes for one feast "season". Truly false profphits have twisted deceiving ways to get your money.
SINCERE MESSAGES TO THE FALSE PROPHETS
REPENT!!!!
To Gerald Flurry: Grow up, you perverted little runt. Unwarp yourself, you perverted little runt. Unfuck yourself, you perverted little runt.
To Dave Pack: Stop lying and stealing and lying and stealing and lying and stealing....
To Ronald Weinland: You have shown no signs of understanding or remorse for your crimes and need more jail time.
To Bob Thiel: Get back in the Elijah closet, you mentally challenged idiot.
Marc,
This is NOT about conspiracy - it's about the very Christian principles of caring for the disadvantaged and being on the giving as opposed to the receiving end! It also provides us with a rather gross example of the hypocrisy of this organization. The "we send it out to everyone" excuse simply doesn't work here. When this young man expressed a desire to attend the feast (in accordance with RCG's teaching on the subject), he was told that he was ineligible for help because he was not a baptized member of the Church. Apparently, there is no such reservation about asking them to contribute money during that same festival! Likewise, I guess he didn't receive any offers of help for his personal situation because he wasn't baptized. I'm thinking too that the folks within RCG who knew about this young man's personal circumstances didn't see any advantage for the "Church" in helping him. Once again, I'm not suggesting that Dave Pack or the Mail Processing Department was aware of this young man's circumstances, but this demonstrates RCG's indifference to the great unwashed in spades!
The subject of this debate should set up a "Go Fund Me" account with the stated purpose as making it possible for him to attend Dave Pack's Feast of Tabernacles. There would be tremendous shaming PR value to such an account, even though he'd probably then receive an email from Dr.Tim Ranney stating that he was not welcome at the feast, and a rescinding of the invitation. Dave would probably have a cop car stationed at the entrance to make sure it was enforced.
Lonnie brother all humans are equal regardless of their race, color ,or nationality.
The Cogs are supposed to help and support the weak ,the poor, the needy, and the disabled.
The followers of Jesus Christ should show respect and tolerance even to those who do not share their faith.
It is equality to make everyone pay or everyone not pay everyone needs to follow the same standards.

This kind of behavior is a recurring theme among the Armstrong Churches of God. The same young man mentioned in the above post also associated with the United Church of God, once upon a time. Fortunately, one of the former members of a UCG congregation in Massachusetts was willing to take the young man to a CGI FOT site. However, as is so often the case with some of these mindless sheep, the man felt compelled to ask a UCG pastor (whom he respected) about the appropriateness of taking the young man to the feast. Not surprisingly, the man in question said that Pastor VanAusdle (New York) advised him not to take the young man to the FOT. His reason? "They would have to keep an eye on the young man because of his disability."
