HWA was the glue that kept Armstrongism together. It is clear that his mini empire has disolved into many little pieces because the leader of the personality cult is no longer alive.

We weren't glued together, we were screwed together.

And now many are being screwed separately based on his legacy of nonsense.

Un-happy death-day, Herbie.

A profound metaphor, Douglas.

Herbert (the W stands for nothing) Armstrong was the one doing the screwing and applying the screws.

Also, nothing of historical note will happen today. How do I know this? Because Gerald Flurry prophecies the opposite! And he has been wrong on everything else.

Too funny, Douglas!

It was Herbie's absolute power and legendary temper that maintained the apparent unity in his church.

Absenting those, over the past 26 years, the groups have lost one of their primary focusses, which was the ability to get their message out in a unified effort, with a certain amount of power. The various groups have splintered, largely because they are focussed on arguing legalistic points, which is basically what Jesus faulted the Pharisees for. Legalism does cause arguments, it causes people to harshly judge one another, and it breeds fanaticism.
It also blinds the participating legalists to their condition.
