Apostle Says Dying Hair OK As Long As You Are Not After A Man

I am so glad we have prophets and apostles who have a direct channel to God so they can tell us what we can do and what we cannot do.  It make life so much easier.  It removes any responsibility from our shoulders.

A Malmite acolyte asks:

Is it a form of lying to colour grey hair? Thanks.

The apostle answers:

That depends on the intent. If the intent is to deceive, then it is a falsehood; however if the intent is to be presentable and you are honest and admit to dying when asked, there is no problem. An example would be a woman prematurely grey who looks incongruous beside a younger looking husband.

Since dying hair is a very common practice today, and most people would not care or be concerned about hair dye, dying hair deceives no one anyway.

I have no problem with it. If you dye your hair and lie about age to land a job or a man; that is lying and wrong. James

"woman prematurely grey who looks incongruous beside a younger looking husband."

Let's not even get started on the problems with a couple like this getting married in the first place; but when I was growing up, in the WCG prior to the changes, the reason giving for encouraging people NOT to dye their hair was both that a hoary head was a sign of wisdom (I'm telling you that's what they said, not that I agree with it), and the second that the chemicals just weren't good for you.

The second part which has been proven by the commercial drive for "natural" and other non-carcinogenic (allegedly) flooding the marketplace in the last few years.

When I was an atheist, I certainly didn't deceive anyone the one time I tried colouring my hair; after all, anyone who thinks blue is a natural hair colour, needs their heads checked. I don't think the chemicals were good for me though, and it was a very unpleasant process....That said, I've also had my fair share of permanents over the years, which also deal with harsh chemicals, but those were somehow OK by the Church, if they were used to make one's appearance neater / make your hair easier to control.

Not that I'm about to stick such noxious things on my scalp ever again, thank you. Not that I would cast stones at anyone who does.

I do think those in the Church who tried all kinds of "workarounds" (everything from henna to grape juice to you name it) were pretty vain, though; your hair gets grey as you get older, and sometimes it goes grey when you're younger; it's a part of life, what's the big deal?

Although I can definitively say I have earned every single grey hair I have on my head right now.

I think the underlying question is, must the carpet match the drapes?

Admit when asked?
How about the fact that some things are none of anyone's business.

As opposed to someone who colors the truth.

Dougslug Winnail's dye job is an abomination!

I'm sure God doesn't care about it but, it hurts my eyes to look upon that Painted Whore of Charlotte.

As vain as they were in their own way, back in the day, Herbutt and Spanky never would have stood for an underling rebelling-Jezabeling with cosmetic color.

I don't know why Spanky's overactive gaydar isn't beeping haywire, given how goofy Winnail has been lately. Or maybe that was the HQ conflict that LCG was supposed to fast about.

Check out this hilarious video of glam Winnail in the LCG pulpit:

Perhaps the flamboyant evangelist is trying to attract a man with all that barking, meowing, and pawing in the air but, at least he's not prophesying.

He never made me laugh in all the years I sat in his congregation - and then he suddenly becomes colorful in his old age!

It's yet another personal matter, and something most people do for themselves. During certain eras, WCG seemed to teach that any use of cosmetics at all was deceptive, or done for evil, ulterior motives.
What a crock. Take the worst stereotype, and simplistically apply it as being universal. And, usually based on HWA's personal opinions!

One thing I've noticed. Many people who do dye their hair fail to consider that your hair is naturally composed of a virtual spectrum of color. They dye too dark, making it not only blatantly obvious, but actually looking worse than grey. There are many jokes about "blue hair" ladies, and guys make the same mistake. Subtlety is good.

Except in my case, Bob, it was actually blue. Dark blue, to be clear, but blue nonetheless.

The questioner asked, "Is it a form of lying to colour gray hair?"

I say, if you're asking the question, you already know the answer. What you're hoping for is a supporting opinion for whatever your own prejudice might be on the answer.

Of course it's a form of lying. You're saying to the world, my hair is color xx -- when your hair is actually color yy. That you did not say it with words, but through non-verbal communication (i.e. the coloring), makes it no less of a lie.

My opinion, but I'm stickin' to it.

For the record, I don't care if people lie about their hair color. I quite lying about mine some time ago, even though I'm a young "salt and pepper." But I keep it young by keeping it stylish and groomed. No one that matters seems to love me less. In fact, I get compliments. And I use the big bucks for other, more valuable, things of life.
