Bob Thiel Resents Being Called A False Prophet By The Living Church of God

Poor Bob.  No matter how hard he tries, he is constantly being labeled a false prophet and teacher.  Even though he claims to be the worlds foremost authority on prophecy, the Mayan's and the Catholic Church, he still cannot shake the stinging rebukes he constantly receives from Living Church of God and others. Between his pathetic video sermons to his badly researched booklets, the troubles keep piling up for the poor guy.

The world's foremost naturopath tries to invoke the words of Herbert Armstrong to justify his world encircling ministry as legitimate and that he is NOT a false prophet.

12/24/13 a.m. After considering how many improper attacks have been posted online against me by various ones (including a couple more by an LCG minister who continues to demonstrate that LCG is not what it claims to be--hopefully those there will stop their improper attacks), I came across something that the late Herbert Armstrong wrote:
PERSECUTORS HAVE CALLED me a "false prophet." Now how would you KNOW whether the accusation IS true- or false?...
Actually, it probably is not very important to you to know whether my persecutors are right or wrong, when they call me dirty names, hurl epithets, resort to innuendo, impute sinister motives, strive to discredit, attempt character assassination. What is important to YOU is whether what you read in The PLAIN TRUTH really is the truth - whether what you hear over The WORLD TOMORROW broadcast is true- not whether I , as an individual, am true or false.
I think our readers know by now that we always say: " DON' T believe what we say because you believe in us." We say " Listen with open mind, without prejudice, then CHECK UP in your own Bible-prove whether it is true, and BELIEVE what you find proved!" I don't seek to induce people to believe in ME- I seek to lead them to believe in JESUS CHRIST! (Armstrong HW. Personal from the Editor. Plain Truth, May 1966, pp. 2)
We in Continuing Church of God (CCOG) urge people to believe the truth and check it out. We have information on numerous websites and two YouTube channels. Satan is the accuser of the brethren, and sadly many in the COGs these days prefer to rely on improper accusations and will not truly check us out to see if what we are teaching is true (including our responses to accusations).

Okay, Bob. I've checked you out.

I have spent enough time reading what you say to know that you cling to the irrational -- that's a fancy word for stupid, Bob -- belief that Herbert Armstrong was Somebody. More than that, that he was a Special Messenger from God and that, decades after he died and most of what he said proved FALSE, we should still look to him -- to what he wrote in some long-forgotten (except to you) and faded magazine -- as a source for our behavior.

Just shut up, Bob, okay?
Shut up, shut up, and go away!

Ugh! The screaming capitals. I forgot about those.

"Hebrews 1
New International Version (NIV)
God’s Final Word: His Son

1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son,"

Aside from this 2000 year old book being wrong about "these last days", I wonder how Prophet Bob, Prophet Ron and Profit Dave Pack get around the concept that no one needs them anymore for New Testament Theology and evidently the job has been phased out to be replaced by NT Jesus?

Seems like Bob is on the "PATH".

He is both a NATUROPATH and a SOCIOPATH!

I would say that the biggest problem in the ACOGs today, the thing that causes the most rancor, and bad fruit is the fact that each time one of these guys ordains himself an apostle or prophet, and goes off and starts a splinter, he refers to that splinter as "God's Church" as if it is some sort of exclusive remnant. Suddenly, everyone else is Laodecean, everyone else does not have proper understanding. And, even if you go independent, you are still in trouble, because you "must" take part in spreading the end time message, and must not forsake assembling together with those of like minds.

Mainstream Christian churches do not participate in this line of thinking. I've heard a pastor say, "If you have a problem here, a matter of conscience or preferences, and if over some weeks or months it cannot be resolved, perhaps this is not the church for you. You've accepted Jesus Christ, and you are saved, so find another church where you can participate and receive your nourishment."

There is, of course, a big difference. The ACOGs often appear not to believe in the power of the Holy Spirit over and within individual Christians. That's why they micromanage through oppressive governance, and each claims to have the only acceptable set of legalism, and to be following "Mr. Armstrong" as if HWA were actually some sort of Biblical figure from chapters not yet written. They usurp the divine by harsh enforcement and constant fear mongering.

Bob Thiel has stated that Living Church of God no longer has the mantle. He claims to have that himself. I can't imagine why he would be surprised that there would be some sort of response, defense, and counter accusation from them. Did he actually expect the members and ministry to lie down at his feet without a whimper?

simultaneousageDBob Thiel's faith draws weak. He finds he must use a dead false prophet to prop it up.

His lack of faith is that he cares what others think of him. When I was a child such things concerned me also. When I grew as a man, I developed confidence in myself and could draw on my own strength. Thiel hasn't developed this and most likely will not at his age.

Expect more weakness as 2014 drags on. In fact, count on it.

The all powerful God, creator of heaven and earth, just cannot prevent or control false prophets...just as he can't prevent or control anything else. Why, it's almost as if God doesn't even exist, isn't it?

RSK said...

Now Corky, they know because they feel it so. They feel it because they know it so. If that seems circular to you, you're not feeling enough and you need another dose of wishful thinking.

Corky at 12:42. Are you assuming that God wants to prevent and control everyone and everything? He didn't in Eden. . . Perhaps He doesn't control everything because gives free will to us; rather than because He doesn't exist.

Exactly, RSK, the presence of the "holy spirit" is not evident - in anybody. A lot of people claim it is so because they have turned their own lives around. In their own eyes it is the work of the holy spirit, but, that's not evident. What is evident is that they reached a point in their lives where they felt guilty about the way they had been living - knowing all along, because of their upbringing, that their lifestyle was wrong. At least they believed their lifestyle was wrong from all they had heard from parents, churches and preachers...and maybe even the police.

Anyway, an unbeliever who prays to find his car keys and is converted because he finds them was never an unbeliever, else he wouldn't be praying. Then to base his life on a coincidence of that sort certainly doesn't indicate the presence of the holy spirit but the presence of wishful thinking.

I've known some really good people in my life who were believers but no indication of the presence of any holy spirit other than their own natural good-natured personalities.

Now, if someone goes to preaching in Greek, Russian, Spanish and other "tongues" without having learned those languages, as the apostle were reported to have done (by people living 50 years afterward), then that might be an indication of a "sign following".

The Bob Thiels of the world certainly have no "signs following" them, other than signs of narcissistic personalities and inflated egos. No "signs" translates to no holy spirit presence (Acts 19:1-6)

The C of G's are personal cash cows for the ministry that over all tend to be fake, phony, money grubbing authority freaks.

Right on, Corky!

People in prison have turned around their lives because of the Holy Spirit!
But some have converted to Islam, some have converted to Christianity, etc etc etc.

Hey, it's all good, and nice PR for whatever belief they've adopted.

My daughter, while in prison, turned her life around and became a Christian Vodun Priestess, and is now an awesome free and respected member of society.

Please excuse me while I go sacrifice some chickens.
(Her religion promotes Shake and Bake, and I helped!)

Hey, Anon 7:31, I hope your daughter continues to do OK.

When I visited my son in a halfway house after the last time he was released, he told me that while on the inside, he had been exposed to the Aryan religion, and planned to study that, and in depth. He was actually doing 88, and FTW tattoos on some of the guys in the halfway house, and when I left, was deeply saddened because at that point, I honestly believed he would reoffend, go back into the system, and probably end up being a lifer. It was more than I could bear to watch.

Months passed, and he suddenly called me, told me there was someone he wanted me to meet, and wondered, since it was Saturday night, if we could go to the races like we always used to do. Long story short, the somebody he wanted me to meet turned out to be his new girlfriend, and she was a Christian. Far from being glad, I was actually pissed, not that I let them see that. My thinking was that I was destined to lose my son no matter what, whether it was to prison, or to Jesus.

Unlike the other times, this time he ended up completely changing, got through parole and probation, the urine tests, and even the unscheduled home-invasion probation inspections required in our state. He got married, graduated from college, bought a home, started a business, and now has a nice little two year old daughter.

As his parent who deliberately had raised him to be an atheist, and who had tried to teach him secular ethics, and watched that not work, his later example affected me in profound ways. Anyone who wants to mock gets a free pass from me, because having my son back means everything to me!
