The Next Time Your Minister Tells You : "Time is short. Obey, Pray, Pay and Stay"....

Consider this while gyrating in your seats, following and funding  the hallucinations and delusional theology of others, hour after hour, day after day, week after week and year after year.

Real life time indeed is short.  Do you really want to spend it driving for hours, sitting for hours, agreeing with what you hope is so based on absolutely no proof that it is so and thinking all the time about the unknowable future as presented by men who can't know either no matter how  hard they pretend to?

How about your children?  Are you wasting their youth and holding them back from the real wonder of being alive NOW?

Are you hurting their real education by making them sit through a fake one?

Are you wasting their free time to explore meaningful and real life wonders and knowledge listening to Dave Pack and Gerald Flurry present you and them with  fake and badly mistaken ones.

They won't thank you when they get older. In time you won't feel so great about it either.

You'll wish you had used your life time for other pursuits, lived in the your present moments and not in the future ones of delusional thinkers.

You'll get really, really put out with yourself , sooner or later, over this experience you are having out off choice, guilt or fear not to think as others tell you to think.

I understand the spell that mere Bible readers and tale weavers can have on a person. I understand the kind of Bible fear that can hold one in a place they'd really rather not be if they felt they had a choice.  I understand the feeling of not having a choice.  I understand the fear of dying and then what?

But to be clear.  Others as well, but specifically Dave Pack and Gerald Flurry are selling you snake oil. They are untrained in the actual history, origins and background of scripture.  They are not really Apostles and their authority is self derived if authority is important to you. They have been badly mistaken in the past and are more so now than ever. It will only get worse. You give them a pass on this because you believe it's a good thing to have more time but it is really just more time to waste on their illusions and delusions.

They are not telling you THE truth.  They are telling you their "truth" and it is going to blow up in everyone's faces sooner or later. Giving your mind and the minds of your children over to them to fill will prove to be the biggest mistake , in hindsight, you will ever regret in your life.

In time, just as Joseph Tkach Sr is said to have lamented when he was dying,  "I have been so stupid", so will they and so will you IF you don't reconsider the path these men are leading you down.

Trusting in their visions is not faith. It truly is the substance of what we hope is true based on absolutely no evidence that it is true. These men are badly mis- taken in their views and they have taken you with them on their mis-taken journey.   It is a farce and dangerous to your mental, emotional and spiritual well being.

My hope is that waking up is in the future of those who might benefit from being reminded of the fact that YOUR life is short too and to choose wisely how when there is much evidence that the current course, with these men and others through the Bible, is off course.

part of the very Christian Doctrine of Faith and Enduring until the end is doing just that: enduring until the end, through humiliation and scoffing, demonstrating the longsuffering of Christ...

The members are trained and conditioned to negate this common sense approach, and to reject second opinions. The leaders of the splinters get around the normal mental processes by making themselves quasi-Biblical personages.

Hopefully, there are some nagging red flags which can come into play causing some to rethink their programming. It certainly happened for us, and the overt ridiculousness of the ACOGs is even more dramatic today than it was in WCG back in 1972-75.

It's often funny how superficial the proofs leading to membership in Armstrongism actually are, but because of the power structure that is taught and the alleged gatekeeper status of the ministry, the depths people might need to go to in order to disprove it all, and undo the damage.

And how do we endure? With the help of the "helpers of our joy."

2 Corinthians 1:24. "Not that we have dominion over your faith, but are fellow workers for your joy; for by faith you stand."

Weston and Pack and Flurry and others like them are working hard to have dominion over your faith. Ask yourself: "How much has the head of my church helped my joy?" In LCG, PCG, RCG and similar cultish ACOGs, members tend to fear the ministry, rather than welcome them as helpers who deepen their joy and their faith. In God's Church, the ministry are "fellow workers" rather than oppressive dominators. So, ask yourself, is your church God's Church?

In the end, it boils down to "could of," "should of," etc. We just have to forgive ourselves because we didn't know any better at the time. At least, I started to wake up at age 40. When 1975 came along and nothing happened, that was it. Shocked me awake, but it still took a long time to fully wake up.

Dennis and Gary, your efforts to free "the faithful" from their onerous religious beliefs must occasionally feel like a poor use of your time. I often wonder if any of these posts ever cause anyone to question their cherished beliefs. Probably not in most cases, instead we just dig in, hold fast and fire back.

I know your motives are not to "be right" but rather to help open eyes to a better way. We know that change is extremely difficult, and as we age nearly impossible. No one wants to admit they have pissed their life away, following some fool.

Enduring to the end in error is not a great choice, but most of us know we are right, and anyone with other ideas is wrong.

Please don't quit. You never know when you may get through to someone. It could happen!

We were drawn to the church because it was different and we wanted to be different.
We thought we had found some new kind of truth.
In reality we didn't know what the Bible actually taught. We followed the booklets and used HWA as a false guide to interpret the Bible for us.
His personal opinions were the gospel. Sad but true.

This is off topic and I apologize but it just hit me about these men in the churches who believe they are Elijah, Zerrubabel, etc.
Mental hospitals are full of people who believe they are Napoleon or Jesus Christ.
Today some men think they are really women.
Johns Hopkins which used to lead the world in gender 'reassignment' reversed themselves and now says they are mentally ill and once changed the suicide numbers go through the roof.
In other words they are really mentally ill.
These men in the church are seriously mentally ill when they actually believe they are a modern day Elijah or whoever.

Just saying

It has happened Gerald. People have left Armstrongism because of what they have read here.

Christian Doctrine is very clear, and a Christian should be able to distinguish the Doctrine of God from that of men...

Joseph, son of Jacob, lived among the heathen for years, yet his Faith in the God of his fathers was not compromised because he understood the principles behind the Doctrine...

if a person is in one of the congregations of the believers, and the fruits of that congregation become unbearable, they should find a Church of God what has the lessor of the two evils, but they should not become bitter, nor have their Faith in the basic Doctrine, e.g., the keeping of the Sabbath and the Holy Days, and the doing unto others, etc. compromised simply because they have become offended...

and while on their journey on the road of endurance they must be Cloaked with the Holy Spirit of God to weather the storm, continue in prayer and study, repentance, etc., and endure until the end...

this is the Commandment; and frankly most of us has not had to endure to the point of having our blood spilled, so if we are believers we shouldnt fall away simply because weve been offended...

There are parallels between the physical and mental. Members sometimes do have their 'blood spilled' as a result of verbal attacks. Sometimes it's the ministers doing the attacking while hiding behind Gods skirts. Cowards!
