Inculcating HWA

Inculcate.  Don't you just hate that word after spending a lifetime in the Chruch of God?  It was a weapon used by church leaders to force members into believing every single thing they said as if it came directly from Jesus Christ himself.

We were expected to take every single word uttered by and written down by Herbert Armstrong as if it was directly channelled by God through him.  Various COG's today have placed his writings and words on the exact same level as scripture.  None is more aggressive in this than the Philadelphia Church of God, as long as it does not interfere with Gerald Flurry's new revelations.

This idolatry is found very active in the PCG's "college" where they now have a class on the life and teachings of Herbert W Armstrong. Instead of discovering the life of Jesus, its all about Herbert.

I appreciate this website for helping me outculcate the teachings and example of HWA from my own life.

HWA's attitude in prayer varied from day to day, depending on how badly he was henpecked by Loma that day, how visible he had to be to students and church members that day, and how strongly he desired something un-Christian that day. HWA also wrote about prayer, but there is precious little evidence that he practiced the regimen he preached.

Does anybody seriously believe that PCG teaches this plain truth to its students?

Do they have a class yet on the life and teachings of Gerald Flurry?

Maybe they can invite you and Dennis as guest lecturers.

Herbert W Armstrong “His attitude in prayer.”
Herbert died over 30 years ago. How in hell would any of these people know what his attitude was? How would they know if he even prayed? If I sat in in one of those classes I think I would puke.

I wrote PCG RCG AMD LCG to ask if I could teach the Harmony of the Gospels and Epistles of Paul, even as a guest. Guess it went into the spammer

Gerald Ray Flurry [His only real name in this list.] has said that the PCG's so-called “ministers” must lead PCG members to “magnify” his office, which he says “is really God's office.” Here are some of the Titles that Gerald gave himself [And the Plain Truth about them.]:

01. That Prophet [Taken from Deuteronomy 18:18-19. Rather than Jesus being that prophet. The ultimate case of Identity Theft.]

02. Malachi [Even more Identity Theft. A fake Malachi who garbled everything that the real Malachi wrote.]

03. The Knocker [Let him knock himself out. Do not let him in.]

04. Joel [Another case of Identity Theft.]

05. Watchman [A voyeur? Well, there are a lot of old sex perverts in the PCG.]

06. Teacher of Righteousness [Actually a teacher of wickedness.]

07. Elisha [Another case of Identity Theft.]

08. Lawgiver [Makes up his own traditions to replace the commandments of God.]

09. King [King of the COG false prophets.]

10. Ambassador [Satan's representative on planet Earth.]

11. A Voice [A drunken, babbling sound.]

12. Zechariah [Another case of Identity Theft.]

13. Counselor [Gives extremely bad advice. Beware!]

14. Micah [Another case of Identity Theft.]

15. Breaker [Mostly a breaker of marriages, families, and all normal relationships.]

16. Habakkuk [Another case of Identity Theft.]

17. Ezekiel [Another case of Identity Theft.]

18. God's Chief Ruler [Satan's chief imposter cult leader.]

19. Amos [Another case of Identity Theft.]

20. Eliakim [Another case of Identity Theft.]

21. Father [A fake father. Wants people to cut off all contact with their real fathers. Wants to be a pope.]

22. The Elder [The old fool.]

23. Obadiah [Another case of Identity Theft.]

24. Messenger [With a different gospel commission that is really no “good news” at all.]

25. Joshua [Yet another case of Identity Theft.]

26. The Nail in a Sure Place [More likely a “sack of hammers.”]

Nice how Gerry altered Mystery of the Ages so he could make himself into a prophet.

Oh, yah. Remember that. Gotta get in 20 minutes of prayer everyday. 18 minutes is too little. A quarter hour keeps you from making it to Petra.

If ya did that on the corner, it would be like the Pharisees; seen by people to be righteous. That doesn't (and shouldn't) count. But a counted, measured 20 minutes praying in a closet somewhere each day, that's the ticket.

Today, now that I'm a real Christian, following the precepts of the New Covenant, I do pray; perhaps even more than 20 minutes. But when the Holy Spirit directs me, for a few moments at time; a conversation with God.

Are Armstrongites to also make sure their conversations with close, good friends are always 20 minutes long, too? What was the magic of an uninterrupted 20 minutes? Content and earnestness; or length of contrived verbosity?

For what it is worth. I am in that class about Mr. Armstrong's life. You are right, there are many times I want to puke at the sick idolatry of the man. We are also expected to have this same reverence and awe of Mr. Flurry. If you think that is hard or equally sick, imagine having to also believe that everything out of Stephen Flurry and other evangelists mouths is equally God delivered.

It won't be long till I am free from this circus.

Anon 2:01 PM - I hope you will write a long blog post about your experiences once you are out.
In the mean time, hang firm, and let no man delude you.

Didn't Garner Ted claim his dads autobiography was full of lies ?

I think he said it was about 50% fiction.
Interesting that when Bob Thiel phoned the ICG office to ask about HWA's alleged incest, GTA didn't speak to him but said to tell him that all he needs to know is in the autobiography.

When any church puts HWA on a pedestal, it's his particular blend of truth and error that's been pushed. God claims that His laws are perfect. People don't agree, so they come up with an alternative. For instance, ministers choose to be masters rather than counsellors.

they are obviously following the man...

Pack only has half those titles. I guess RCG is just PCG lite.

When I was a student I remember us having at least halfway useful classes, even some that were truly useful outside of the church.

Do they even have that anymore at HWAC or have all the classes been replaced with these self fellating "oh boy look at our pedigree" classes?

Shamefru Dispray!
